The special of the night was prime rib, baked potato and vegetable. It was cooked perfectly. My wife ordered the 2 piece fried chicken dinner with 2 sides. The waitress asked her what pieces she would like. She replied "White meat", to which the waitress inquired, " Are 2 breasts alright"? My wife was pleasantly surprised. The chicken arrived perfectly cooked. Golden in color, indicative of fresh oil. The chef stopped by our table to inquire as to our satisfaction. There was overwhelming satisfaction. Reasonably priced. Those 2 entrees and a bottle of wine just at $100.00. We're looking forward to returning in December. As an added bonus they encourage you to visit the second floor to see how the house was at the turn of the century. MAKE RESERVATIONS especially if there is a show at the theatre that evening.

The Pancakes are as big as the plate and to my wife and I tasted delightfully like funnel cake. The hash browns were both wonderful and plentiful. One item on the menu that I rarely find except in the northeast is Hamburger steak. Everything at our table was cooked to order and well prepared. They split the check in our two couple, 5 person group without complaint and the food came out very quickly. If you show up starving and really can't wait you can get an on demand cinnamon bun that is absolutely massive in its own right with enough frosting to trigger diabetes in the healthiest of individuals.

I had the Monday special of 1/2 a sausage cheese omelet with hashbrowns and toast for only $9.49. The omelet was a little different. It had plenty of sausage but the cheese was 1/2 a slice of American cheese on top and apparently the other half inside. It really wasn't enough cheese inside the omelet. It was still good though. My husband had a combo platter for $11.99. The pancakes were much bigger than he expected, lol! But he still cleaned his plate. He said it was all very good!

Staying at the Iron Horse a few doors down, we pulled into town around 630pm. A quick search &…read moreglance around told us the choices were to eat here (within an hour) or not eat. We chose to eat. I can't lie, I went into what's showing as coffee tea & sandwiches pretty bitterly & with low expectations. It hits the greasy spoon look in appearances - and elbow table sticking... a real throwback diner vibe. You'll be eating off grandma's plates & drinking from big plastic soda cups. The sign out front said the specials were fish, shrimp or frog legs. The menu was along the lines of a burger joint & i wasn't feeling a burger. Fried food in 90 degree weather sounded heavy. Still, we both decided to get the fish with the option to sub any side because they were out of the included mac & cheese. Having asked what kind of fish it was, the server said she wasn't sure but it's delicious. This turned out to be incredibly accurate. The fish was EXCELLENT. It was moist, light & flaky with a clean fry, & no dripping oil. I was very pleasantly surprised by the presentation of what hit like a meal at home. We opted for the tasty house-made cobbler to finish. It was $3 - 2 meals, 2 desserts came in at $30. Here's to an accident gone right!. At 12min til close, a group was hovering at the door & checking their watches. I kid you not, the lady in charge went bee-lining for the door. Again, I had expectations of the lock getting turned but, nope, she opened the door & invited them in! They warned they were a party of 12 & it was now -10min til close but she shrugged that off & called them in. That, dear readers, is great customer service.
