We first stopped here back in the pre-pandemic days (remember them?) and had a great dinner. Then, either late in the pandemic or soon afer the pandemic, we stopped here for dinner and discovered that they had gone to a breakfast/lunch only format. This trip we discovered that there is new ownership and that they are again open for dinner -- Hooray - good news for me. The location is right next to the river and a nice park that honors veterans. We stopped for dinner and had a great meal. The food and service were both excellent. The restaurant has a classic diner feel to it and the menu offers a wide array of options - something to suit anyone. I highly recommend the Main St DIner. read more

We ate here while in town. Fried pickles and cheese curds were good. Hubby enjoyed his bourbon chicken! Pancakes were good. Chicken strips were given the ok by my kiddo. I ate here a few times while I was working in Boonville. One time I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes and gravy and a side of green beans. Another time I had the crispy chicken salad, and the third time I had a western omelet. All three meals were very good, the hash browns were a little extra crispy. Service was good, but you could hear the cook complaining loudly when orders came in. They were out of quite a few things, and I heard a waitress say the cook had put the eggs away, so breakfast was not available. Hours might be inconsistent...the open signs were turned off prior to the posted 2pm close. Not sure if we will return based on this experience. Too bad...it used to be good. read more

Quite obviously a major community gathering place. It seemed like everyone knew each other. The food was good, the prices were reasonable.

We ate here this past Friday with family. The food was good and for four people with desert it cost us with tip $60, so not that bad. The service was good and waitress was friendly. It was nice and clean and pretty busy for a Friday night, but we got right in at around 6:30 PM. All in all a good place to eat and we recommend it when you are in town. read more

So glad we left the interstate and headed into town for lunch! We found the Main Street Diner well worth the short detour. The food is cooked with love, for sure! I chose the Monte Christo sandwich after swooning/reading through the breakfast menu, assuming - correctly - that it would be made to perfection. It was accompanied by a healthy stack of dill slices and hot French fries. My spouse enjoyed the special of the day, meatloaf. Of note: both sweet and unsweetened tea are available. I'm not sure what the people who rated this anything more than a couple of stars ordered, but we stopped in today for the first time to eat brunch and were very disappointed. We ordered the triple decker club, the meat was dry, the tomatoes were soggy, to the point my friend didn't even eat the club. When she told the waitress, all the waitress said was, "You should've ordered the BLT." We also ordered the catfish fillets, which weren't fully cooked, and their mashed potatoes were the worst I've ever had in my life. The "white gravy" should've been called albino gravy because there wasn't a speck or seasoning in it and it tasted like it came from a can. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one was because the French fries were good and the Philly Cheesesteak was mediocre at best. The meat isn't shaved, it's very clumpy. Thankfully, we will not be returning. read more

Last week we enjoyed a few days of mild, sunny weather in MO (instead of the usual stifling hot August temps of summer) so we decided to get out and enjoy a Sunday lunch out. My husband was craving fried chicken so I did a search and found Main Street Diner in Boonville, MO. What a treasure! Can't say enough about the quaint atmosphere of Boonville in general and when we stepped into the Diner, I half expected Andy Taylor and Barney Fife to be seated at a table nearby....well, 6 feet away, at least! Our waitress was SO personable - Angel was her name. My husband ordered the fried chicken, which, she explained took 15 minutes to prepare fresh, so ambled outside to check out the Memorial park across the street. Very nice park, right next to the Missouri River Bridge, and Historic Hotel Frederick. The fried chicken arrived promptly afterwards and it was excellent, classic good diner food. Iced tea was perfect. I ordered the open faced turkey sandwich and it was delicious as well. We saved room for dessert because they had our two favorites: lemon meringue pie and carrot cake! SO good! Can't say enough about how good everything was, how great the service was...We discovered there was a walking tour of some historic sites in the area but since it was Sunday, some of the historic places to tour were closed. We came back in the following Tues, brought our bikes, and ate lunch at the Diner again! I got a gyro greek salad and my husband got what I think was called A Manhattan sandwich - a hot open faced sandwich with a choice of meat and mashed potatoes...and more deliciously refreshing iced tea! We chatted with Angel again and had a great day touring the historic homesites of Boonville which was a 3 mile walking tour we did on bicycle. Highly recommend this historic restaurant situated on the corner of Main Street right by the mighty Missouri River! We can't wait to go back to Boonville! read more

Was in Boonville for a soccer tournament and stopped in for lunch. It right down on Main Street, thought it was going to be smaller but once you got inside there are plenty of tables to go around. The menu is pretty big with lots to offer, breakfast, sandwiches, burgers and a good sized kid menu as well. I had the two egg breakfast with gyro meat and it was fantastic. It's a clean, very casual diner with good food and a homey small town feel. read more

They serve old food there,they won't make substitution's or try to make it right,they still make you pay when food is old,they have horrible management,if there is a problem the manager will not talk to you,instead he sends his waitress to do the dirty work while he stays in the back.Other people I know I have gotten the same treatment& it's just not right if there is a problem with the food people should be able to talk to management and it should be made right.Thankfully The Palace is close by,they're all so friendly and if there is a problem management does take care of it. read more

i recently came as i had to wait to get my tablets screen fixed. I came in and it was lovely and was sat almost immediately. Server was amazing. Ordered an appetizer of Mozzarella sticks and they were really crunchy in a different kind of way and the marinara sauce was chunkier then i like it but that's fine. I had the steak and shrimp. I was expecting to have grilled shrimp but that's okay. it seemed like the shrimp had already been fried before. just very oily. The steak was kinda dry but it was okay. My boyfriend had the burger and fries. Also got a side of hashbrowns. I was expecting them to have an actual fresh ground beef patty. What he got was one of those frozen patties you can buy at Walmart. Disappointed. but the fries were amazing and the hashbrowns were great:). I got a side salad and it was nice and fresh. The service was amazing but the food wasn't all i thought it was gonna be.. I will return and try something else in case. I try and always give second chances :)) read more

Classic breakfast place with eggs done to order, hash brown and bacon. All spot on. Also ordered a side of pancakes, they were on the thinner side, but still tasty. Rye toast was excellent. Coffee was just a notch above "Church" coffee. Best part of the meal was our waitress who had a good sense of humor and was a quintessential diner waitress...in a good way. They serve breakfast all day so we were pleased. Tried the chicken skillet. Huge portion, my son had to finish it. I really enjoyed the flavor of the sautéed veggies and chicken on top of the hash browns...chose my eggs scrambled and it was delish. Husband was in the mood for lunch so he tried the Turkey Hot and Hearty Manhattan...he is not real descriptive but said he loved it! Our second time here, and this place is worth driving a ways off the interstate for. Near the river in historic downtown, it's a classic style diner. About 2:00 in the afternoon on Labor Day, but still 6-8 tables occupied. ONE waitress, who still managed to service everyone's table and run the cash register with a friendly smile and manner. Service rarely seen anymore! Food was great and very affordable. Wife had the reuben, and they graciously swapped bread type on it for her. The corned beef was obviously cooked onsite, and she said it was great. The fries were surely frozen, but high quality. Nice seasoning and crunch! I ordered the frisco burger and soup of the day, chicken noodle. Now I know that soups are to use up previous days' leftovers, but the taste of this was very good. Yes, the pasta was soggy, but the other ingredients, thick broth, and taste more than made up for it. The burger was spot-on, and obviously freshly prepared. Nice touch putting it on what is essentially garlic-parmesan Texas toast. In summary, tasty food and great service, and lunch for two for $15...what's not to like? read more
