Beef Maki (only showing less than half an order)
MaryDan H.

I have always loved Moy's egg rolls because of the hint of peanut butter in them. We visited recently and had to try them for old-time's sake. The egg rolls seemed slightly smaller, had the same inside goodness, but the outside wrapper seemed "tougher." Times change, so too did Moy's egg roll wrappers... The Beef Maki skewers were tasty as were the crab rangoons.

Broccoli chicken

We've been missing classic Chinese so this was a treat. We had Moy's fried rice and an order of broccoli chicken. Can't wait to return and try other items.

I ordered the Crab Rangoon and there was no crab in it ..all there I found was what appeared to be warm cream cheese like filling, no crab taste whatsoever. Don't waste your money

Delicious egg rolls

My husband took me here 28 years ago when we first started dating. We have long since moved away but come here every time we are in the area. Driving 684 miles in anticipation of a great meal, we were not disappointed. We always order the same items since we don't eat here often. Hong Sue chicken, egg rolls and soup. The chicken dish is loaded with fresh vegetables in a delicate sauce. The white meat chicken is not greasy and the batter is light. I had chicken rice soup that had enough chicken for a pot of soup, hubby had egg drop and we both loved it. The egg rolls have that peanut butter taste I long for and are crispy and delicious. I was sad when it was over but we left happily with another wonderful memory of Moy's delicious food, excellent service and warm ambiance. Lots of street parking. Beer , wine and cocktails.

I was at first a little hesitant to try Moy's again after all the recent negative reviews, but I have to say it was very good. I did carryout and everything was very good. Sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken and beef fried rice. All excellent. The egg rolls were very good as well. They have a unique taste that is very good. I'll be back

The bar room.

I should have eaten at Sze Chuan ages ago. I was told it was amazing. I even lived very near to it…read morein the past. It's been on my list, but I didn't go. That was an error. The restaurant is in a tucked away strip mall and is modest in size and decor. The strip mall also contains hidden treasures like a Chinese bakery/BBQ and an Asian store. We went early on a Saturday evening with friends. The service was excellent, although with some staff there were language hurdles. No matter - everyone made it work and we were left with an abundance of amazing food at a reasonable price. Wine and beers are served, as well as smoothies and other non-alcoholic drinks. BF ordered crab rangoon as a starter, which was good. He liked it more than I did, but it was nice and crispy. I just didn't think it compared to other dishes. My vegetable egg roll was very good as well, but nothing terribly unique. He went bold on the entree and ordered the pork intestine and blood cake dish. He really enjoyed it and said it was quite spicy. The portions are generous and he did bring a lot home. I ordered the homestyle tofu, which normally has pork. I got it without to make it vegetarian friendly. The textures were very good and the sauce was intensely flavorful, but mild. I also ordered a supplementary dish of braised mushrooms and Shanghai greens. Everyone at the table enjoyed this dish, particularly the greens, which are a variety of bok choy, called pac choy. The mushrooms were wonderful, with the texture of wood ears. I also had plenty of leftovers to eat the next day. Our friends ordered the Szechuan spicy pork dumplings and they got rave reviews. My cousin did say they were not overly spicy. She went on to order the sizzling black pepper beef, which she said was good, but not nearly as unique or deeply flavored as the other dishes. Her husband ordered the pork intestine with clear noodles, which he enjoyed but said was extremely spicy. He did leave a lot of sauce behind since it was so hot. He also had the ox tendon and maw in spicy sauce, which came with chopped peanuts on top. He seemed really pleased with that dish. We agreed that we would happily go back to explore the menu more. Everything was excellent and I thought the prices were generally quite reasonable, especially for the quantity of food. I do wish the menu had more descriptive text, so I could familiarize myself with the dishes. The choices are many and overwhelming and the menu is huge. I'd also love to see a symbol for vegetarian options since it's very hard to know otherwise and many of the vegetable dishes included pork or other meat. As we left the restaurant was getting increasingly busy with people waiting by the door for seats. This is a popular place for good reason.

Sze Chuan is still one of my top 3 favorite Chinese restaurants in the Milwaukee area. It seems…read morethey are always busy, but the staff also does a good job getting guests seated, managing the wait list, getting food served and tables turned without rushing the guests. The Spicy Pork Dumplings have become my go-to appetizer, and the fried spring rolls are also very good. On a most recent visit, we ordered hot pot. Our server brought us the sheet to make our selections. You can choose from mild broth, spicy broth, or half tray of each. The spicy is pretty hot with lots of red chili peppers soaking in it, so I scooped out the chili peppers to keep rhe flavor but lessen the impact on my palate. For 2 guests, I recommend choosing 3 items from the list, maybe 2 protein and one veggie or 2 veggie and one protein to start. You can order more if you finish and need more. This is in addition to the two appetizers you will choose, which is included with rhe hot pot dinner. It's a great value! Sze Chuan remains on my short list of go-to's for Chinese dining, and I look forward to my next visit, whenever that may be.

The food was bland, tasted like it had been microwaved, and seemed outdated. I couldn't even eat it. When I asked for a refund for the beef and broccoli, the owner did refund me, but then charged me more than what was originally on the receipt. When I went to the counter to question the overcharge, she became argumentative, rolled her eyes, called me picky, and denied the charges. I ended up paying $40 just to get out of the situation. It didn't stop there. She followed me out to the parking lot, ripped my phone out of my hand, and demanded that I sign a receipt. All in front of my kids. This behavior is completely unacceptable. Between the poor-quality food, the unprofessional treatment, and how unsafe the situation felt, I strongly urge others to avoid this place at all costs. I haven't even touched on how unclean the restaurant appeared.

The food itself isn't bad - I actually quite liked a lot of the flavors of the dishes I got. I think what truly brings this review down is the poor service I get. There aren't usually many people here, but service is always at a crawling pace - it takes forever to even get a water, and then a second eternity to place an order. Dim Sum is also renowned for its cart service - but I suppose only busier places have this luxury. Nani only has a paper menu that you can order from straight from the kitchen - by no means a poor experience, but a far cry from the true dim sum experience. Again, the food is actually quite nice, but the lack of quality service, somewhat empty atmosphere, and no cart service makes this place a far cry from a real dim sum experience.

Tucked into a no-frills corner on the South Side, Dai Yee's looks modest from the outside, but step in after 10 p.m. and it's pure magic. The room is packed with everybody--sneakerheads, nurses coming off shift, club kids, cops, and couples on first dates who somehow heard the legend. The vibe is chaotic in the best way: woks roaring, orders flying, and that unmistakable perfume of sizzling garlic, ginger, and chili filling the air. The food is straight-up stupid good. The Hong Kong-style salt & pepper smelts are crackly, spicy, and gone in 30 seconds. The beef chow fun has that elusive wok hei (breath of the wok) that most places only dream of, wide rice noodles slick with smoky char and tender flank steak. The black pepper beef tenderloin is velvet-soft, glossy, and aggressively peppery in a way that makes you order extra rice just to survive the happiness. The Singapore noodles are bright curry perfection, and the Mongolian beef is saucy, crispy-edged, and borderline addictive. Portions are straight out of the 90s--massive trays that could feed a family of four for under $15. Cash-only, BYOB, and everything comes out blazing hot in under ten minutes even when the place is slammed. The ladies running the show are legends: fast, funny, and they'll roast you (lovingly) if you can't handle the spice level you asked for. If you leave Chicago without hitting Dai Yee's at least once (preferably at 1 a.m. with a six-pack), you didn't really experience the city. This is real-deal, no-filter, soul-satisfying Chinese food that reminds you why we fall in love with restaurants in the first place. Dai Yee's isn't just a restaurant; it's a Chicago institution in the making. I'd wait in line in a blizzard for those smelts. See you at midnight.

I thought today that I would visit my old friend and even though I have been around the world with the menu that dam general Taos chicken dinner combination is my favorite. The chicken is always big moist chunks of tender velveted chicken which I can't tell if it's white or dark meat because of the velveting process but I like it. The egg roll isn't the tiny ones that became the norm over the years and it's super average like 95 % of Asian restaurants now, not like years past when the egg roll was a signature staple in Asian restaurants and they made really good ones. The combination chicken fried rice is that kind you find on most combination menus, not the main dish dark fried rice full of meat and veggies but just enough to accompany the main dish. Overall it's tasty enough and better than the average neighborhood Chinese restaurant and for a dinner combination that was 2 1/2 pounds of food for $13.50, price vs quality vs taste it's a winner.
