4 Stars - Great facility, but scheduling and supervision need improvement The Moylan Iceplex is a really nice facility overall. Having two rinks makes it easy for them to host a wide variety of activities, and there's almost always something going on. Between public skating, club hockey, adult ("old man") leagues, stick-and-puck sessions, and other events, it's a very active place for the hockey community. The staff have always been friendly in my experience, which makes a big difference. The facility itself is well set up, with places to eat and even a small arcade area, which is great if you're bringing kids or family members who aren't skating. Prices for skating sessions and activities are also pretty reasonable compared to many rinks. My main frustration is the scheduling. The posted schedules sometimes change without notice, which can be really frustrating when you drive there expecting ice time and find out it was changed or canceled. The other concern is supervision. During public skating especially, there often appears to be little or no monitoring on the ice. With a lot of kids skating at once, things can get chaotic and occasionally dangerous. Overall it's a great facility with a lot going for it, but better schedule management and more active supervision would make a big difference. read more

We had so much fun ice skating here!! Being our first time we didn't know what to expect and we had a blast. We came for a small birthday party and it was cool. I saw people complaining about the smell but I mean hockey games are played here and their stuff stored in lockers so I figured that was going to be the case. It's not really even that bad. The concession stand has so much to offer for reasonable prices as well. Definitely a cool family trip! read more

This is a two rink establishment with lockers. It's both a sports rink and an all-skate rink. Contact them for times or check their website: https://www.moylaniceplex.com It sports two Olympic-sized rinks. On visiting for the first time, I saw one rink hosting hockey practice. The other was for the all-skate I was attending. The rink is well maintained. Zambonis resurfaced each rink after use, prior to the next season. Lighting and temps were solid. It had proper benches for hockey and ringette. The all-skate had good music playing loud enough to hear over blades on ice and hockey next rink over. Colored lighting for the all-skate suited as I recalled it from youth. That side of the two rinks has bleachers facing it, too. The other side did not. Skates are rentable in a station between the two rinks, next to the locker room. A large seating area faces the rink on the right. This has windows for viewing the action on the ice. Good for parties and large events. In that large area is a game room, a prize station, and a concession stand. All were, to my mind, well done. The staff I encountered were all very polite and friendly. Will return. read more

We come here weekly for the adult hockey league, it has two large areas for seating and two nice, well kept ice rinks!

We rented out one of the two ice rinks they have for a school event. They made the process easy. There wasn't much supervision, but most of us are adults and the kids who did come were with their parents. Their prices were better than other rinks for entire rink rentals. There is also a little arcade area for kids. The items in the crane games were lacking and it was $1. The place itself is older and could use some updating but things get so wet around the ice rinks that anything newer would get ruined too. The concession stand had a good variety of drinks and snacks/food for a reasonable price. Drinks ranged from Monster energy drinks to chocolate milk; hot chocolate to frozen slushies. read more

Public skate is a joke if you truly want to skate and not trip over people for an hour. No organization. I left after 20 minutes. Kids that can't skate and need a massive plastic walker should be on the outside and those that actually want to come skate should be on the inside. Seems simple. Kids going horizontally, the wrong way, groups of people just stopped chatting on ice. So many kids getting inured and crying. What a mess. I love the Learn to Skate here, but public skate was a terrible experience. I'll go to Motto McLean for $4 and some order. read more

Just a truly wholesome place to enjoy ice skating. The vibe is decidedly communal with two rinks and various hours to free skate. On the Saturday afternoon I went, I think the open skate session was open from 2p - 10p which was generous. Wanna know what's even more generous? The pricing was $8 for an adult to skate for all day - including skate rental. Either these fine people haven't raised their rates since the 80s, or we've got a very reasonable local venue to get social, bring a date, get some exercise and enjoy. My favorite aspect was that I saw - zero - people with cellphones in their hands. Way to live in the moment and enjoy! read more

This place is less than 5 minutes from our home and offers a reasonably priced fun activity for the family. The price is $8.56 (random) per person during open skate. The also on occasion offer family skate nights where everyone can get in for $10. Walkers are available for kids. They also have a reasonably priced concession stand . Some of the skates are a little beat up and they could definitely stand to upgrade the lockers, which are probably older than me but this is overall a nice facility. read more

While taking part in an ice hockey tournament, we watched as the Zamboni driver put down an exorbitant amount of water, to the point where we could see visible waves as he made his passes. The water was pooled on the ice most of the game which made for a dangerous and sloppy situation. After our game we watched as he did exactly the same for the next game. When we asked one of the rink workers about it he shrugged and said "It has been like that all day" and walked off. There does not seem to be much care in the quality of the ice, even when hockey teams have paid good money for a quality tournament experience. read more

Just to be clear, this is an ice skating rink and the map is wrong, this place is on the little spur road in the park to the east of where it shows on the map. I really like to go here with my youngest son. They offer quite a bit of public skating time and reasonable rates. For $20 we can skate until we are beat and it is almost never really busy. They have two full sized rinks inside this facility and are open year round. Although we usually end up going there in the winter, it is a very fun time to go there when it is hot outside too. They have all of the usual stuff, skate rentals, concessions, etc. They lose a star for having almost no parking, er, well they have lots of parking but it seems to be all up several flights of stairs which can get a bit slippery in the winter. In the summer it is fine though, and I can't think of a better place to be when it is 90+ degrees and 100% humidity this summer. Their schedule is available on the website. read more

My daughter and her friends had been wanting to ice skate, so we stopped in over their winter break from school for some skating. While they do host hockey teams (practices and games), we were here for some free skating. First off the price is right. Around $8 gets you access to two full size rinks and rental skates. These days that's pretty cheap entertainment, especially when coupled with some 80's rock playing overhead. If you are an adult and either can't skate or don't want to feel like your feet are being bound like in ancient China, there are bleachers to sit in or tables in the main entrance. They do also have 'walkers' for beginners to help them get around the ice. For those who make an afternoon of it, they also have a snack bar if you need something to eat. So yeah, in a nutshell it's a place to go ice skating and it seems like cheap fun in my opinion. The girls liked it so much they came back less than a week later. read more

For the price, not a bad place to skate; however, there is zero staff supervision on the ice. During public skate, there were many kids basically using the walkers as bumper cars so to speak and crashing into each other (on purpose) and using them as torpedoes against each other. Again, since there was no staff supervision, this continued the entire session. It was not only annoying for those trying to skate but also dangerous especially for those who were actually trying to learn to skate (particularly younger, smaller, children). Also, the ice was not cleared before or anytime during the entire three-hour public skate session making the ice very rough the first 30-45 minutes. read more

They are a great venue for anything where you need on the ice, but I feel the recent service over this summer has been fairly poor. We sign up and pay to play for an hour. The ice has been soaked so we had to wait for the puddles to go away. That cancels out like 10 minutes. Before they even zamboni it, there is still hockey going on from the last session when our session is supposed to begin, so that is another 10 minutes. Lastly the boy usually opens the gate and kicks us out anywhere from 3-10 minutes before our session ends. So basic math shows that we pay regular price every week to play for one hour like the previous session gets, when we are only getting 30-40 minutes. That doesn't seem very fair in my opinion. read more

I knew this place was here and knew it was indoor skating but why I didn't have my kids come here sooner is beyond me! Cheap fun and something different. For $8 you get skates and free reign on a rink, a fun Friday night option. Variety of ages on the rink having fun. This place has two rinks but the other one was being used for a hockey game which is another option to watch! This place also serves eats and drinks and has a big area to sit and watch/wait. read more
