While not really a 5-star, I'm rounding up just to give a true experience compared to the sad reviews currently here. Lessons learned: don't park a car here; expect to walk a quarter mile; anticipate the normal Moxy mojo. But otherwise it's a fine airport-hotel experience when you're not paying 3x prices for someplace you probably are leaving before dawn to catch the early flight. There's a nice gathering space in the lobby, with good food/drink selection and a few choices on tap. No Michelin stars but you'll eat. Play some billiards or relax in many chairs. It could be a little warmer, but don't mind the Southerner who doesn't think "cold and damp" is normal. The rooms are Moxy-esque and will get you a night's sleep as advertised. There's a walkway halfway covered, the rest open-air, so you folks with the steamer trunks won't be happy walking the distance. Also don't park here, since it's one of the 100% of airport hotels that don't have any free parking. Come on folks. Then if we can avoid another world pandemic type situation and you don't need a refund, maybe this place will get a couple 3-star reviews from y'all. Only stayed here because had early flight in morning. Should have read the Yelp reviews first! When reading about the parking issue, made sure no problem while checking in. You check in at the bar. The lobby is a big ugly noisy space with concrete floor. A monstrosity of decor. The colors are purple and grey. It is truly hideous. I'm sure the idea is to give it a fresh, hip look but the truth is it's very low service hotel for a fairly high price. No freebies such as coffee in the morning. No phone in room, so I had to go downstairs to report drain problem in shower. Room is OK, comfortable, clean. Weird lighting. For example there is motion detected lighting under the bed so when you get up in the middle of the night it lights up. In a way this is cool but my husband hates it because it woke him up when I got out of bed. The breakfast was £15 so we skipped. Important: there is no shuttle to the airport. Was told, "It's only a 10 minute walk!" Easier said than done. Shlepping with multiple suitcases across a dicey route is no fun and I can't imagine what it would be like in cold or rainy weather. I should have checked Yelp before staying. I had the same experience of parking my rental car while dropping bags off, returning the rental car, receiving a notice a few days later that included an administration fee, and then having my appeal to Parkingeye denied. A 122 GPB hotel stay cost me an additional 95 GPB in parking fines. Even though the hotel's website says parking is included with an overnight stay. Absolute rip off! Don't stay here or at any Moxy property. read more

I'm seeing that a lot of other people also had this experience, but my husband and I parked in the parking lot for 20 minutes in order to drop off our bags and received a £100 parking fine. We were just dropping our luggage off so we can return the rental car. The front desk did not mention that we needed to register a car, and I would never have thought that a car parked temporarily would need to be registered. £100 is actually so absurd, I can't honestly believe it. In the parking violation citation they say that there are clearly marked signs all around the property that the carpark is only for patrons, but we were patrons so it doesn't make sense that we were charged so much. read more

This hotel is within walking distance to/from the airport. If you will be dragging your luggage, just know that it's bumpy and not a smooth pathway. Sometimes it rains too, so be prepared for that, as this is not a covered pathway. It feels very boutiquey!! Walking in, it's black&white checkerboard retro theme, actual book poles, and hot pink walls. They have a Photo Booth, a Star Wars pinball game (I think), a foosball table, and a pool table. I do not know if you need to pay to play those or not, as I didn't check. Check in with the person at the bar for your room assignment, and just know that your breakfast will not be free (even if you have status with Marriott). There is a selection of pastries/eggs/sausage/cereals/meats/cheeses/juices for breakfast. You are supposed to grab a tray located underneath the utensils, and place everything on there in one shot, if possible. If you bring your things to a table and leave them unattended, staff may think you left and will clean the area/throw away whatever was there pretty quickly. When you are done eating, you are supposed to bring your tray to the racks next to the kitchen hallway and slide them in 2 trays per rack. Rooms are very efficient- don't be expecting a lot of space at this place!! Shower was warm within 2 seconds!! Bed was clean and plushy. As an airport hotel, it's ideal for being close by the airport. We did not have a vehicle but were warned that any vehicle that enters the parking lot needs to be registered, even if it's just for a few minutes. Nothing is free, except for WiFi!! ;) read more

Like the contributor Samantha and others, I checked into the Moxy (on June 4, 2025) and was parked curbside for 17 minutes during check-in and then I returned my car to the car rental company Drivalia. Drivalia let me know they charged me a $60-pound administrative fee and Parking eye will be sending me a ticket. Neither of the two hotel workers mentioned anything about this being an issue and they were well aware that I was parked curbside to unload luggage. This is a scam and should be stopped. Also, the patrons of the Moxy (Marriott) should be reimbursed for all related expenses. read more

While the rooms are modern and reasonably well appointed, the overall service here is not so great. The lack of a shuttle to the terminal is a big flaw. The terminal is not so far away but if the weather is poor or you have some heavy bags, it is a drag. The restaurant and bar were not bad. read more

For me the Moxy is a true 5 star review. Only stayed here one night for a really early flight back home but absolutely loved it. The lobby is just one big living room where you can really enjoy either working or just relaxing. It's all about books and there are plenty of them to have a look at. Several tiny meeting rooms available in the lobby as well if you need to focus or work with several people. Bar crew is fast and friendly, drinks are good and at reasonable prices. Go and check out the two hanging chairs, they are super comfy. Fancy a game at the pool table, foosball table (Garlando) or even pinball machine? All possible. Rooms are clean, bed is very good and has a tiny gimmick I have never had before: Lights under the bed which are triggered by motion sensors if you get up in the middle of the night :) read more

Although "individual climate control" is listed as one of the "general room amenities", in fact this is the only branded hotel I've ever stayed at where I cannot control the temperature of my room. I was told simply to turn the heat off and open the window because they don't turn on the AC until summer! Clearly, guest comfort is not a priority for the operators of this hotel. It's particularly weird because I also stayed at the Moxy in downtown Edinburgh and was able to set the temperature to my liking. Instead of sleeping, I'm busy writing this. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. We had some friends staying in town, we purchased a night for them in this hotel the day before they flew out. We were in the drop off zone (not even the parking lot) for 1 extra minute (21 min. instead of 20) I am now fighting a £170 parking ticket. I called this hotel everyday for 3 weeks. After being on hold for 15 minutes I would give up. Eventually after a month someone actually answered the phone. They emailed parking eye (the company that owns the parking lot) to dismiss parking charge, but it was ignored. Beware if you stay here, you WILLL get a ticket even if you are a guest. THE HOTEL DOES NOT OWN THEIR OWN PARKING LOT. Also, after speaking to staff, they also DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO CONTACT PARKINGEYE. They email the same email anyone else would (which doesn't actually go anywhere), they don't have a phone number to contact the parking lot owners. WHAT A JOKE. read more

2 star hotel at best. We got charged 135 euros for crossing into the parking lot with our rental car. We were under the car port for "19 minutes"- enough to check in and drop off luggage before leaving to return our rental car. Ended up getting fined for parking without registering our car- which we never actually parked. Ridiculous. read more

It's pretty new and is a 10 min walk to the airport, allowing us to skip the 12 British pound taxi ride. That said, it's a budget hotel and shouldn't be considered otherwise. Tiny rooms with tiny bathrooms, no upgrade rooms or King size beds. Perhaps the most annoying thing was the inability to use the AC to cool the room when they decide it's more cost effective for you to "open the window". Having to choose between airport plus road noise or a hot room is not what I expect from Marriott. Stay at the Hilton next door and leave this budget motel to the Millennial backpackers. read more

I stay in LOTS of Marriott hotels, and this Moxey concept is definitely the stupidest idea Marriott has ever had. You check in at the bar, and the entire first floor is literally a bar, complete with super loud music and drunk people. No lobby. We ordered burgers and waited over an hour before getting them. And the bar tenders seemed more interested in flirting with girls at the bar than anything else. As far as the rooms, they're lean like you would expect feom a marriott, but they don't have phones in the rooms. So when the 1/4 roll of toilet paper in our room was quickly used up, I had to run downstairs to ask for more. I'm giving this two stars because the rooms are clean, standard Marriott rooms, but everything else about this Moxy hotel concept is terrible. read more

We spent 20 minutes checking in to our hotel in Edinburgh before returning our rental car and we just received a parking ticket for parking in the hotel parking lot while checking in. Not good! Rooms are tiny, beds are small, bathroom has no space whatsoever to turnaround in. The noise from the bar can easily be heard, room was hot, opening window meant hearing traffic all night. Would never recommend it or ever stay there again read more

Customer service is atrocious. My wife and I booked a weekend in December. Unfortunately COVID entry rules changed last minute in the UK (Omicron) meaning we would have to quarantine the whole weekend. We had a non-refundable booking at the Moxie. That alone should've been a red flag since no reputable hotels employ such policies, but it is what it is. We accepted that loss and moved on. One problem, we needed a receipt of this transaction. Weeks later and multiple calls, constantly being shifted around from representative to representative they can't even provide a receipt! Zero tangible proof of what, why, and how much they charged us so I can't even use my travel insurance. Each call lead to a brand new case number which ultimately was a dead end wasting more time. It's 2022, how do you not store booking and receipt records beyond 3 days? read more

Three months after our stay for one night at the Moxy EDI we received a Parking Notice Charge from a company called Parkingeye for parking 1 hr 50 mins at the Moxy Hotel Edinburgh airport. We were guests at the hotel, had no idea we had to pay for parking, nor did we see a notice nor were we informed of the parking charge. The charge is for 100 British pounds, but we could only pay 60 pounds if we paid within 28 days of the notice issue date. NOTE: we got the notice three months later!!! We live in the US. What a rip-off! Don't think I will be staying there again! read more
