It took maybe three minutes to walk from the hotel to the entrance of the airport. There is a subway station in the airport, which made it easy to get to famous landmarks in Berlin. This hotel had a nice modern vibe to it. It also had kiosk so you can check in yourself. My only complaint was that I could only reduce the temperature in the room by three. So it was hot in the middle of the night. And the thermostat only worked if you were in the room.

On 17.09, he left the reception unattended to eat while several guests were waiting in line. After more than 30 minutes of waiting, I had to check in via the self-service machine. Later, when I tried to resolve a room issue (my room was placed directly opposite the elevator despite my earlier request), I patiently waited another 20 minutes in line. Mr. Reupke then refused to help me until everyone else was served, making me wait an additional 15 minutes. Altogether I lost more than an hour just because the receptionist neglected his duties. On 19.09, I had extended and paid for my stay until 21.09. Despite this, at around 14:00 someone tried to forcefully enter my room while I was resting, even though the "Do Not Disturb" sign was on the door. At the reception, Mr. Reupke gave contradictory explanations ("a mistake", then "they wanted to clean"), although the person knocking was clearly not a cleaner. When I expressed that this was unacceptable, he dismissed me, saying "it's not a big deal". When I insisted on my right to complain, he rudely told me: "Don't teach me how to do my job", then turned his back, left the desk, and went to eat instead of resolving the issue. I paid €160 per night and expected professionalism and respect. Instead, I was met with arrogance, rudeness, and complete disregard for guests. This is the worst hotel experience I've had in Berlin, and I strongly advise management to review the behavior of this employee.

I was also promised I could get a cab early to catch an early flight. The cab took 30 minutes with lots of stress. The clientele seems to be just travelers and not so much rowdy 20-somethings. The hotel has air conditioning, which was a very welcome addition during our stay while it was very hot. It is a very new facility and the rooms was very modern and clean. With 4 people in my family, we had a queen-size bed and a bunk bed for our kids. Since it is a hostel, it has some amenities that are helpful for travelers looking to economize, such as a kitchenette complete with stove, refrigerator, washing machine and dryer. There is a Aldi grocery store attached to the hotel, so you are only a few steps away from being able to buy your own groceries for a cheap meal. I would definitely stay here again.

It has a fairly big parking lot which costs something around 8€ per day, but it's nothing more than a piece separated from the Aldi parking lot. So if you're willing to walk 3 steps more, park for free just beside it and you're good to go. They have free WiFi and have a breakfast buffet, nothing fancy but somehow enough and inexpensive. For us it was really great, because we were just moving around Tempelhof and Schönefeld, and had the advantage to Park 2 MB Vianos without any trouble.

It's well designed and quiet. My TV wasn't working and after one day they replaced the TV with a new one. Casting worked but many chanells (English ones) were habitually out. There's an ice maker on every floor, but no ice bucket. The minifridge was good. Overall I liked the room. The service: a very mixed bag. I called for an ice bucket and plug adapter to be sent to my room. The desk manager advised that they would charge me 7 euros to send me the ice bucket, or I could come down and pick one up. Likewise the adapter, I needed to come down to get it and a 20 euro deposit would be taken. I expressed my opinion that this wasn't in keeping with a 4 star hotel, to which I was shocked to hear "we're not a 4 star hotel, we aren't rated, we're a no-star hotel". I advised that this is not how Expedia sells the property, to which he said "that's up to Expedia". I advised that clearly they had an agreement with Expedia that was misleading, that if the hotel didn't offer 4 star service I would have stayed elsewhere. He and the rest of the front desk staff are uninterested in providing courteous service. As a VIP Gold Expedia member I requested a late check out as a perk, but was charged 30 euros to have the room till 4. After an hour they called and said there would be no charge after all, but the bad taste was already set. Room service is only from 3pm-10pm. Good location, good price, comfy room, mediocre service.

And I can't forget the receptionist always willing to help with my bizzare issues even during late hours. I only experienced two unpleasant surprises: Incredibly long journey from the reception to my room. Many stairs to walk, even more doors to open. The Cookpit restaurant is not a restaurant - they don't cook there. But the receptionist recomended me an italian restaurant nearby, which was great. (Well, there was another surprise, which made my departure much more adventurous than I wanted - my alarm clock didn't work the last morning, but I suppose it was not a plot of the hotel :)) Note: Wireless internet is not free and there was no refrigerator in my room.

Employee mentioned that the entire kitchen staff left. Staff seems in general quite indifferent, after another guest had taken our do not disturb card from the door over night, a request to the staff to replace it was taken but never acted upon. And what's up with no towel racks in the bathroom? And no convenient place to hang a jacket? Mattress and pillow quality average, I've had much better. Also avoid rooms in first floor. Some of them are only accessible by taking the lift to third, then walking over and down two flights of stairs in another part of the building. I'm definitely taking this hotel off my list of places to stay.
