Too expensive, and there's a catch. I called Pro-core to fix my small self-propelled mower. I…read morealready knew what the problem was before they came -- needed a new drive belt (and of course told them on the phone before they came). But their process is, we come and inspect, charge you $66 to look at it, and if you have them repair it, they reduce your bill by $66. Fine, although again, I already knew the problem, so this whole first step was unnecessary. He comes, charges us $66 to tell me what I already know, then they send an estimate for repairs -- and this is where they get you. In the estimate (total of $259 minus the $66), they charge you for a "Regular service" which is $129 (which includes, among other things, blade sharpen, oil change, fuel filter, adjust height, remove debris, etc). I didn't need any of that -- only the $60 Belt install and $20 belt (all itemized on estimate) -- but the owner says he can't do it without charging the $129 as well (very unclear why). Additionally, like any "good" mechanic, they find problems you didn't ask about like telling me I need a new blade (another $40), despite again, paying $129 for blade sharpening. Bottom line, they got me for $66 for doing absolutely nothing but telling me what I already knew. Goes without saying, I wouldn't use this service. Try to find a smaller repairman that doesn't require a service visit/charge unless you truly don't know what's wrong with your mower.

I contacted Nova Mower Repair by email to get a quote to have my riding lawn mower serviced. The…read moremower started and drove fine, but my blades were bad and the deck needed to be leveled. Jonathan responded that they could do the repair but the pickup of my mower and the estimate would be $150. The $150 would be deducted from the cost of the total repair. I agreed and he came to pick up my mower. I wouldn't say the repair was quick because he had my mower for a couple weeks. No big deal since Spring was coming and I figured they were pretty busy. Still, I got no updates from Nova Mower Repair until I requested a status on my mower. Again, this was after a couple weeks had passed. Shortly after I asked about the status, the repair was completed and my mower was returned. I was told that the engine had been serviced, the deck had been leveled, and my blades had been sharpened. Jonathan also mentioned that my belt needed to be replaced. I thought that it was odd that he didn't replace it for me since assumed that would have been included in the repair that he performed. Total cost of the service was $300 (minus the $150 I had already paid). The cost sounded steep, but I was happy not to have to fix the mower myself. Unfortunately, when I attempted to cut my grass I noticed right away that one of the blades was cutting lower than the other, which meant the deck hadn't been leveled. Also, the blades seemed to be struggling to spin. Not only did it sound awful, but it also caused piles of cut grass to just sit on top of my lawn. (I've got a mulching lawn mower, so that is not supposed to happen). To make matters worse, I discovered that the brakes no longer worked. I asked Jonathan about the repairs made to my mower but he didn't seem like he was interested in elaborating. The bottom line is I ended up have to replace my blades, replace the belt, and level the deck myself. Jonathan was a very nice guy on the phone and in person and I appreciate the fact that his company will pick up and deliver your riding mower. He also gave me some great advice about where to get a good weed eater and what brand to buy. Sadly, I was disappointed in the quality of service I received. I expected to have my mower returned to me in better shape than when it was picked up but that was not my experience. Your mileage may vary.
