My previous review stated, "I love any store where I can get tulip bulbs, a new bird house, a winter hat shaped like a Christmas tree, a new cookie sheet and a loaf of Zingerman's bread" and all that still rings true. But these days I also add national parks merch, gear for my dogs, holiday decor, kitchen gadgets and cookbooks and, perhaps most exciting for a Polish broad like myself, a variety of Polish pottery pieces. In the spring and summer months I can be found perusing peony bulbs for my garden, hummingbird feeders, bird seed and squirrel proof bird feeders, planters, plants/starters for my veggie garden, pest control and fertilizers, plus a variety of lawn decor and sculpture pieces, etc. Some things can be kind of pricey but you truly get what you pay for. Even after years out in the elements everything I've bought for my yard here is still in amazing condition, my plants from here always yield the most delicious fruits and veggies, and the little birdies are so happy with the snacks we provide them from their bins.

I can come and do one hour today for $65. Let me know if that works..." When I asked him why the price changed in a few days he said: "Yes. We change prices based on demand and circumstances. I have unlimited clients at this point so we set prices accordingly. I plan on raising to $200/hour. This is just business economics...My time is very valuable." Following the completion of the job, I noticed he had cut the lawn unevenly in several areas. He also didn't move a small table and chairs in my lawn and just mowed around it, leaving the tall grass underneath. I called and texted Nelson several times to voice my concerns and ensure these mistakes weren't made twice. He never returned my texts or phone calls and didn't show up to mow my lawn again. This spring was fairly challenging with some family medical drama taking me to and from the…read morehospital at least several days a week. As such, I didn't get to tending to my garden or yard in the same way I had in previous years. After the first few spring rains the weeds just exploded. I looked at them, totally exhausted, and decided I'd hire someone while I was on vacation the week after to get my bed cleaned up and ready for me to plant in when I returned. I did "request a quote" and within minutes, Deb was calling me to schedule a visit to give me an estimate. She stopped over a few days later, we walked through what I needed to have done (this includes cleaning up a decomposing stump from a dead tree removed by DTW several weeks before) and assured me that it would be taken care of. Two young gentleman showed up the day we were heading out of town so I was able to survey their work. They worked quickly and between the two of them, cleaned up the front and back yard gardens in 3 hours (my entire front yard is a garden so this was a lot of ground to cover) as well as a side garden by our garage. Everything was clean and, aside from a few small weeds that popped up in the days I was gone, heading in and planting a week later was a breeze. I like working in the garden so I didn't hire them for regular maintenance or planting (although it WAS tempting) but they do offer that if you want to keep things tidy and don't have the time or physical ability to do it yourself. But for early or late season clean up, or during busy times, I could definitely see myself calling upon their services again.

They are booked pretty heavily so it took a couple of weeks for our appointment but they showed up and worked efficiently to finish the job neatly and thoroughly. Our garden looks amazing and they did a great job pulling all those pesky weeds in our rock beds that had been causing me grief (and back pain!) over the spring and summer. I'm so happy with how it all looks. I can't stop marveling at our very cute yard now! And my plants seem way happier now that we've got the mulch around them as well. Prices are typical for independent greenhouse operations (vs. chain stores where prices might be lower but so will the quality and selection.) They also offer a limited weekly farm to table crate plans which is unique in that you get to pick what's in your bag based on what's available. No need to end up with many veggies you don't want just because that's what the farm has available. The staff are very knowledgeable about the plants they offer and can recommend specific varieties to suit your needs, taste and growing conditions. Their hours vary seasonally so unless it's June, July and August, it's best to check their web site for hours of operation.
