Bozeman's Movie Lovers is awesome, with great service and a personal touch. Just last week I asked the clerk about three different movies I had heard decent things about, and he steered me away from all of them. Based on my rental history (which he remembered vaguely, not in a creepy way), he suggested two other films. I rented both and loved them. I've had this same experience with two other employees in the same store. I've regularly had late fees forgiven without requesting it, even though I don't deserve it, as have other acquaintances of mine. This kind of store needs to stay in business. Netflix is convenient but streaming can be a pain and the mail option is slow to get new releases. Redbox has a crappy selection unless you love cheesy action movies and teenage comedies. I can't say enough positive words about Movie Lovers! I have been renting from them for over 13 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else in Bozeman to rent a movie. Sure Redbox is cheaper but when something goes wrong you get nothing but hassles. I have been most impressed with the customer service from Movie Lovers! They are quick to share a friendly hello, give recommendations if needed or desired, or go that extra step to answer questions re: movies you are interested in, replace/give you credit for a damaged dvd. The staff are the most valuable assets at Movie Lovers! Please don't let one person's negative experience steer you away from this place. What counts is the overall long term service of the masses. I recently wanted to watch Spirited Away and went to Hastings to find it. Incredibly unorganized and lacking in variety of movies. So I tried Movie Lovers. They have a whole endcap with Studio Ghibli films. From looking at the rest of the store, they seem to have an excellent selection of films that are well organized. I also picked up a new movie without being disappointed that all copies were already rented, as seems to be the case when I go to Hastings. Prices were reasonable as well. I would say if you don't have Netflix and want to watch a movie that's less mainstream, Movie Lovers would likely have it. read more

I have always had great luck with movie lovers, yes there have been a few employers that have not been the friendliest but you find those kinds of people everywhere. Recently though, I haven't encountered anyone thats not friendly, nearly every time I go, the same guy works there and he is so incredibly helpful. They have wonderful suggestions and they are incredibly genuine. If you get one of the guys, they will cut your late fees in half too. I've never felt like reviewing a business before, but Movie Lovers is so consistently impressive, I thought I'd finally change that. The selection is better than most other brick-and-mortar stores, the staff is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and I haven't gotten a single damaged DVD in the years I've been renting (more than I can say about any other shop or service). We have been going to Movie Lovers for years and love it! There is something about being able to look through all of the old movies and find the ones you loved growing up and sharing them with your kids. But the best part is the customer service. Fantastic local movie store! Always have whatever you are looking for - unlike Redbox which only has the new releases (and not even those all the time!). Every staff member has been great for suggestions and the staff is always friendly. Jim even recognizes my name on the phone a lot when I call to see if something is in. Try getting obscure random movies from netflix or even hastings. Movie Lovers was the only place in town I could rent "Once Upon a Time in the West"; a charles bronson western and "Wallace"; a documentary about the american dictator of nicaragua.
