I had such a horrible experience there, felt so pressured into buying a long term treatment plan, and the whole office was incredibly unprofessional. I gave up on finding a chiropractor until I started having debilitating knee pain that was getting in the way of my workouts. My fitness instructor recommended Dr. Ariana (a chiro for knee pain? Worth a shot!). Dr. Ariana immediately did an outstanding job of helping me understand how my entire body was having an effect on my knee pain. She helped tailor exercises specific to my needs for me to work on outside of our sessions and DID SO MANY MAGICAL THINGS DURING THE SESSIONS TO HEAL ME! Adjustments, muscle work, therapeutic ultrasound, graston, electro stim - she does it all!!! I am so impressed with how much Dr. Ariana has helped me over the past year. He was originally referred to Dr. Cortis by one of her existing patients after a trip abroad left my husband in agony with lower back pain. After a couple of visits, along with prescribed back exercise homework, my husband was good as new. He was so grateful that she was able to help him rid his lower back pain, that he's been raving about her practice since. As time would dictate; I was eventually in need of some acupuncture treatments for myself, and there was only one physician of which we both could think. Seeing as I was new to acupuncture, I initially went into Dr. Cortis' office a little scared and very anxious. That is, I didn't know that I was anxious, until I was on Dr. Cortis' chiropractor bed and was overcome with anxiety. Had it not been for her patient demeanor, I don't know if I could have ever completed my acupuncture treatments. Dr. Cortis was not only very professional and knowledgable, but she was also caring, gentle, and considerate with me. Dr. Cortis took her time during the acupuncture process to fully explain exactly what she was doing and the benefits which would follow. Not only did her demeanor help me to overcome my anxiety in the midst of my treatment that day, I have been able to return to Dr. Cortis for multiple treatments since then.

I called my parents and they told me one of their friend's daughter was a chiropractor/acupuncturist in Chicago and very close to where I lived! How perfect right?! I gave her a call and the rest is history! Number one, and most important to me she was super affordable! She has a private office, so no annoying waiting room. Her office was clean and it was really nice not having to interact with anyone but her. I told her what was bothering me and she went to work. To be honest, I've always been pretty skeptical about acupuncture, and I still won't say it's my favorite, but I immediately felt better after the session. I don't know what else to say, it was all just so simple! I was very comfortable in her home and she must know what she's doing because now I go once a month and feel great!

tl;dr: Brenda and Dr. Kyle are Masters of their Crafts. They're deeply invested in you as a patient…read moreand how they can help your physical self feel better and stronger. If you know you're ready to change how you care for and nurture your physical self and you feel like you need people in your corner - knowledgeable, supportive motivators and expert caretakers, I highly, highly recommend Midtown. They are truly a rare gem in their fields.  While my nerdy Teacher Self is inspired to write a straight-up essay about how Brenda and Dr. Kyle have already changed how I feel in my body in such a short period of time, I'll try to keep this concise (ish lol). Evidence:  I wanted to start with experiential evidence - the differences I'm feeling in my body, what I'm able to do for slightly longer than I have traditionally, etc. because that's what matters most to me - less pain, more ability, so that I can live my life fully and stop avoiding activities simply because I don't think my body can handle it.  1. Doing housework (dishes, laundry, dusting!, etc.), for even a few minutes, is really hard on my body. Just standing while organizing or washing dishes for less than 60 seconds can be very painful. I always need to take a lot of breaks and even then, they level of pain is still high when I return. I've lived like this for years - certainly over a decade. In the last couple weeks, I noticed that I'm able to last a few minutes longer now before the pain becomes great enough for me to need to rest my body. It kind of freaked me out the first time I noticed lol, because I'm so used to feeling it and needing to take very frequent breaks. Of course, the pain isn't completely gone, but Rome wasn't built in a day, etc. etc. etc.  2. This is a big one. I'm on my feet all day at work, and I don't notice the body pain until I'm in my car at the end of the day. The pain is so acute that I often am not able to run quick errands like stopping at Aldi (shoutout!) or picking medications because walking and standing for very short amounts of time are highly painful. My body just needs to sit or collapse in on itself. Sometimes I walk out of a store without getting anything because my body's like "nope, we hurt, please let us rest."  I'm back at work and finding that the acute pain after work is so much more manageable that I AM able to run errands without feeling like I'm pushing my body too hard. This impacts my daily life immensely and feels really good to have this long-standing barrier beginning to break down. 3. Last, the very first difference I noticed was about two or three weeks into working with them. When standing up after sitting for long periods of time, my lower back is often sore and requires me to slowly move and wait until the pain dissipates. I've been hopping out of my car at the end of a long day, again, weirded out by the fact that my lower back either isn't in pain at all or is really low level and dissipates quickly without me doing anything. The Type of Providers They Are: a bulleted list of why Brenda and Dr. Kyle both earned my deep respect and gratefulness: - They are patient-centered and they genuinely give a shit about improving your physical wellness. They recognize me as a whole human - how emotions, stress, etc. impact my body, my motivation, etc. They actively listen, ask questions, and their treatment is in response to my answers. (For real - Brenda asked so many questions I didn't have an answer to that it forced me to pay more attention to my body/sensations!). They continuously check in with me so that they always have updated data they're using to adjust treatments as needed. - They encourage me to voice my needs and always respect my boundaries. I particularly appreciate the teacher moves Dr. Kyle implements - he knows when he can push me just beyond a limit I don't think I can manage (usually he's right and I can and I'll admit it's a little annoying when I'm wrong lol). He also respects when I'm like "I don't think I can do that many." He'll negotiate and compromise without making me feel like I'm not working hard enough or am slacking/lazy/don't care enough.  - They both demonstrate such strong Mastery of their Crafts when working with me. This is something I learned first with how my body feels after treatments with them, as well as the depth of their knowledge and their ability to explain what they're doing (or what/why I'm feeling the discomfort/pain) in ways I can understand. - Last, honestly, they are both just Excellent Humans. Truly. As a teacher, my job is more than a job or career - it's service for me. It's how I serve and give back to the world.  Brenda and Dr. Kyle are the same. They don't just provide a service - they're invested and dedicated to supporting and guiding you toward your physical wellness goals.  Basically, they're helping me change my life and how I live in really fundamental ways, and I'm deeply grateful to have found such rare, passionate providers.

I have since finished with my Groupon sessions and am intending on returning to see Dr. Norini on a regular basis. She is very knowledgeable and extremely kind and helpful. Before each session, she will sit and talk with you about your physical/emotional concerns, will recommend a course of action, and will take time to explain everything to you. It is so refreshing to meet with a doctor who is invested in your personal well being, and takes the time to check in with you and discuss matters with you. She has a very calm demeanor, and I have never felt rushed if I come in with a long list of concerns and questions. Personally, she has helped me with my high stress levels, back pain, hormonal imbalances, chronic digestive problems, and overall well-being. I have seen quicker results in 6 visits with her than I have over the years when I've brought these concerns to therapists, psychiatrists, ob/gyns, and gastroenterologists combined. I feel great. Dr. Norini has a very practical and holistic approach in her practice. She blends Eastern and Western medical practices to suit your needs. She is very objective, and if she feels that your concerns may be better treated with seeing a medical specialist or seeing a general practitioner associated with a hospital elsewhere, she will tell you that. In my particular experience, she has recommended that I get certain blood work done elsewhere so that she can better assess my physical concerns. I am currently a student and in-between jobs, as well as without health insurance, and Dr Norini has been very helpful in offering different types of affordable payment plans for people in my situation. It has been a struggle for me to find reasonable payment plans (even with doctors I have seen for over a decade) without insurance, and Dr Norini offers plans that are affordable for everyone. Each session with her could easily cost $100+, and I am so thankful that she finds a way to make her quality healthcare services affordable. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Norini at Whole Body Health and Wellness. She's great!
