I've been seeing Dr. Huffman for several months now and she has completely changed my perspective on chiropractic care. I've always been skeptical on chiropractic care due to past experiences, but Dr. Huffman's warm personality, level of skill, attention to detail, and approach have made all the difference. She truly listens to your concerns and creates a holistic treatment plan tailored for you, and your goals. Her treatment extends beyond pain relief; it has significantly enhanced my mobility and running performance. Her treatment doesn't stop at the office. She works with you and shows you practical exercises that you can use to augment your therapy at home. Dr. Huffman is a hidden gem. If you're considering chiropractic care, or looking to improve your mobility to support an active lifestyle, I can't recommend Dr. Huffman enough. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. (Mary) Huffman for years and I have nothing but great things to say about her medical ability, care, and concern. Dr. Huffman has put me back together after bicycle accidents, motorcycle accidents, and just the general wear and tear of being a life-long athlete. Her appointments run on-time, her rates are reasonable and fair, and I can use insurance or pay cash. Dr. Huffman is not a "whack and crack", i.e. 5 min and out like other chiros I have been (to). Instead, Dr. H. took the time to get know me, my lifestyle, and my goals. She used that background info to create a plan of care. I have never spent less than 40 minutes in her office being treated. Oh, and on that note, I didn't spend 48 weeks going her like some chiros I experienced. Nope, a reasonable length of time and I was back to my former, active self. Now I go just for maintenance. There are many fine chiros and I hope you find one that works for you. If you are looking for a chiro, I highly recommend Dr. Huffman. You won't be disappointed! Dr Huffman is the best doctor/chiropractor I have ever seen. I am a former collegiate athlete and a professional coach and yoga instructor. I am very careful about who treats me, Dr Huffman helped me back from two accidents. I had herniated discs in my neck from a car accident and I hurt myself at work and herniated discs in my lower back. She is incredibly knowledgable and makes scheduling with her easy, and handles the billing well too. I'd give her 10 stars on a 5 star rating. read more

Dr. Huffman is not only the best Chiropractor I have ever been under the care of, but hands down the best and most kind doctor, period. I was amazed during my very first visit at how much time she took to assess the pain and dig down on what the cause/solution to the problem would be. I had lived under the impression that a visit to the Chiro was a 10 minute deal. The level of care, time and attention that Dr. Huffman gives to every session is unparalleled. I have had two major injuries (left and right knee) and I can undoubtedly say that in both occasions Dr. Huffman saved me from surgery. I have the misfortune now of living out of state and it has been an absolute nightmare to find a Chiropractor that even compares to Dr. Huffman. I am now back to 5-10 minute visits to the Chiro. I take every single opportunity that I am in Chicago to make an appointment with her. I cannot recommend her enough!! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Huffman! In only a couple weeks she had done more for me in terms of diagnosis and treatment than months of seeing other professionals. She's extremely knowledgable and so incredibly kind. Every visit, she really listened to what I was experiencing and checked in on past mentionings. She did an exceptional job at explaining to me in layman's terms what the problem was, how we were going to resolve it and why she/I was doing certain things/movements. She's always ensuring I'm comfortable and informed - you can tell she really cares about her patients. As a major plus too, her scheduling is super flexible which was really nice as a working professional. I seriously can't recommend her enough - so grateful I found her! read more

*Since writing about my experience in a review, two of Dr Huffmans patients have written her 5 star reviews. Both sent harassing messages saying "how dare you write this about a sweet lady." This has nothing to do with personality and everything to do with the injuries sustained in her care. FYI When Mrs Huffman read my Xray, she was certain that my pain was from arthritis. Arthritis doesn't all of a sudden activate or cause the knee to buckle after a chiropractic session, unless that chiropractor injured the patients knee and hip. read more

Dr. Huffman is THE BEST chiropractor I have ever been to!!! I should have written this a long time ago but I'm pretty lazy about writing reviews... I know I should do it more often but.... ANYWAY... I was referred to Dr. Huffman by one of my doctors (I forget) because I was having issues with my legs and feet. I came in and within a few visits, she was able to help me with my pain in not only my legs and feet but also my back, shoulders, and neck. Dr. Huffman is so awesome, kind, funny, helpful, and every positive adjective you can imagine. One of the best things she does is she asks you questions that seem like she is just asking about your week but, in fact, she gathers information about what you are doing that may contribute to your overall positive or negative health. I have had several health issues due to a chronic pain disorder. Dr. Huffman knows this and makes sure she adjusts my treatment so that my issues are always addressed and that any problems I have are never aggravated. She has helped me get me to the point of being pain-free. She even given me "homework" - exercises to do outside of the office to keep me limber and comfortable. On a personal note, Dr. Huffman is a great person. In the couple years I have been seeing her, I have gone thru depression and losing several loved ones. When I have talked about it, she listens without any prejudice or judgment. Seeing her smiling face every time I come in makes my week. I look forward to each visit because I know she will be happy to see me and talk about a book or movie or show that she knows I will just love. tl:dr - Dr. Huffman is the best. She is a great doctor and an amazing person. read more

If you are searching for a new chiropractor and are considering Dr. Huffman, then I encourage you to make an appointment and decide for yourself. I am with the five-star reviewers. We recognize not only her level of skill and professionalism, but the difference in attention that she provides. You will never feel rushed, or as if you are just another patient to her -- from a patient's perspective, she certainly is not just another chiropractor. read more

Let's start off by staying that I am a difficult patient. I have an irrational fear of doctors and as childish as that is, my pain finally overcame my crippling fear. In my head, I was a tough guy and I wasn't going to let a doctor snap my neck like I've seen in so many true to life Jean-Claude Van Damme movies. Dr. Huffman is the only doctor that has singlehandedly shut down my fears while dealing with my childish antics. She laughs at my weak jokes that I use to cover my insecurities and reassures me at every step. Dr. Huffman is the only doctor I like. That is a bold statement coming from a guy who once refused to go to the hospital with a dime sized hole completely thru his arm. I swore up and down while yelling at the ER doc's that I could fix it myself with a roll of duct tape and a bottle of Jack Daniels. Yeah...I'm that kind of patient. Regardless, Dr. Huffman took the time to sit me down and discuss my issues (physical, my tough guys mental issues are incurable! LOL). She has always been available for an emergency appointment when my dumbass hurt myself doing something I shouldn't have. Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention, my back is 10x better thanks to her and I would highly recommend her to anyone. So if you're looking for a great doctor, look no further. If she can fix me, she can fix anyone. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Huffman for a year and a half now, and have had nothing but a positive experience both at every appointment and with my overall experience. I'm incredibly picky when it comes to chiropractors as I'm sensitive with my back. Dr. Huffman is gentle and makes sure that I am okay with every adjustment. You can tell that she genuinely cares about her practice, while also caring about you as the patient. She's the absolute sweetest! I've seen improvement both short term and long term, and will continue to see Dr. Huffman for as long as I'm in the Chicago area! Love love love her. read more

I have been visiting Dr. Huffman for over 10 years with chronic shoulder and back pain. She is by far the most thoughtful, intelligent, thorough doctor I have been to for treatment. She is now helping me after shoulder surgery and has been the quintessential source for my therapy. I came here ( to Yelp) to provide an unsolicited review and I have noticed another review at this site, stating that she injured her during treatment and was not even apologetic. Not possible ! Clearly ( from the 750 word rant) this person has an axe to grind and somehow trying to play off of Dr. Huffman's incredible kindness for some other source of accommodation. I can't believe someone would make such comments about her. But you can tell from her commentary that she has chronic issues, perhaps an athlete?,,, looking to cause harm to one of the most thoughtful chiropractors in Chicago. Unsolicited 5-Stars, after 12 years of treatment!! read more

Dr. Huffman is one of the best doctors I have ever had. She truly cares about her patient's well-being and it shows. She is not the type of doctor that does an "adjustment" and sends you on your way. She has always taken the time to evaluate what is going on with me and has helped me tremendously. I had severe neck pain and didn't know what was going on. She treated me and also helped me get to the bottom of it...x-rays, MRI physical therapy and eventually epidural steroid shots which helped! She didn't keep seeing me and doing the same thing, she actually continued to find alternatives while being treated by her to make sure I was improving. I now see her for low back pain and once again she has already helped me drastically. Dr. Huffman is kind, VERY SMART and caring. You leave her office feeling better and with more of an understanding of what is going on with your condition. You also leave knowing she wants you to get better and be healthy. I could not recommend her enough, she is AMAZING! read more

Dr. Huffman is one of the most caring doctors I have ever met! She really takes the time to listen to whats going on to get to the bottom of what is hurting. She always makes me feel comfortable and explains everything in an easy to understand way. The appointment times are so convenient (early mornings and even some late night ones). The office is super cool as well, it's a loft with exposed brick! read more

Repeating my review written on the Yelp page for Dr. Huffman's old location: Dr. Huffman is by far the most knowledgeable and caring doctor I've ever seen. I wish I could give her more than 5 stars because she's that good at what she does. I had a mysterious pain in my upper left abdomen for about two years, and in that time I saw a LOT of doctors to try and determine a cause. I had a colonoscopy, an endoscopy, a CT scan, an ultrasound, blood tests... just about everything. But when results came back normal, every doctor told me I was fine and I never saw them again. About a year ago, I started having pain in my back as well as my abdomen, so I was referred to Dr. Huffman to see if my back was the root of the problem. Like other people have said, Dr. Huffman took the time to sit and listen to me - she asked me a lot of questions about my symptoms, and came up with a few possible causes for my pain. Over the next couple of weeks, I came into Chiromedica to work on some exercises and get adjusted by Dr. Huffman. By about the fifth appointment we didn't see any improvement in my pain, so Dr. Huffman recommended that I get an MRI of my thoracic spine because it was possible I had a tumor on the T8 nerve covering near my spine. She explained that the T8 nerve comes out of your spine, wraps around your side, and connects up in your upper left abdomen under your rib cage, which would justify why I had so much pain in my abdomen. She referred me to a great MRI facility, and called me a few days later to tell me that the MRI showed a tumor in the exact location she suspected it would be. I have since had neurosurgery to remove the tumor, and now my back and stomach are 100% better! I can't even imagine how much longer I would have had the tumor (and how much larger it may have gotten) if I hadn't seen Dr. Huffman. After this experience, I would recommend seeing Dr. Huffman for any pain/problem your body is having. read more

Dr. Huffman is a very kind and compassionate chiropractor. At my initial consultation, I voiced my concerns about it being my first experience with a chiropractor and how I was nervous. She immediately made me feel comfortable, at ease, and that she understood the cause of my concern and discomfort. Dr. Huffman is very thorough and provides education on healthy strategies that I am able to use between appointments to improve my overall well being and strength. Since I have been working with her, I have noticed a significant reduction in the symptoms I was experiencing before I started working with her. I would highly recommend her services. read more

Dr. Huffman.IS.AMAZING. I don't dole out compliments loosely and I have high standards, and I was genuinely giddy when I walked out of my massage today. I felt so good and I was so happy to have finally found a med practice that did massage, chiro treatments, etc that are covered by my insurance and where they know what they're doing. She's knowledgeable, she is nice, down to earth, humble (how many docs do you know that fit that description?), and she is flexible with times. I have seen a number of other chiros and massage therapists and she is among the best. Many other chiros left my ears ringing, awful soreness for a week, and even nauseated after adjustments; but after her treatments (because she isn't giving me a one-size-fits-all treatment), I feel better. I can't say enough nice things about her and her skills. Go see her or you're silly! read more

I can't even count how many times I have recommended Dr. Huffman to friends and co-workers over the past decade I have been seeing her. She is even the unofficial "team doctor" for a running team I manage and we have had athletes go to see her with a variety of hip, knee and back issues. Why go see Dr. Huffman? - She truly (truly) cares about her patients and getting them better. - She takes her time with the diagnosis. When you go in with a new issue she has you run through a series of tests to narrow down the cause. - She takes her time with appointments. I've never been in there less than 50 minutes. She does a ton of soft tissue work before any adjustments (if you want them). - She has a busy schedule, but always makes time for her patients who need her. - I rarely have to wait at an appointment and if I do it is just a matter of minutes. - She is kind, and easy to talk to, and knows her stuff! There are two stories / times I've gone to see her that really stand out. The first time was my first ever appointment. I went in and told her my neck was really hurting (I twisted it on an amusement park ride). I had never been to a chiropractor before and expected her to work on my actual neck. But after examining from my back up to my neck, she started working inside of my shoulder blade. That area wasn't sore at all. But she explained how it was tight and that is what is actually pulling across and straining my neck. And...she was right. If I was left up to my own devices I would have just kept rubbing my neck waiting for it to get better. She knows to look beyond the symptoms and find the causes. The second time that stands out was more recent, and the reason I am finally getting around to doing a review. I went to my primary care doctor with pain and tingling down my left arm. I was really worried as to what it could be, and was almost relieved to be diagnosed with carpal tunnel and given a wrist brace to wear. I went to see Dr. Huffman to have my back worked on about 3 days after I had started wearing the brace. My arm was not getting any better, and in fact, it was starting to hurt and tingle even more than before. I walked in and mentioned my wrist / carpel tunnel. She asked me a couple of basic questions (i.e., is it bilateral pain) and from spending 30 seconds talking to me she knew the primary care physician had misdiagnosed me. She knew right away it was not carpal tunnel and based on where the pain was originating she figured it was caused by a misaligned vertebrae in my neck. Sure enough, she had me lay down and was able to trigger it just by placing a little pressure on the area she thought was causing it. She was able to work on that area and within a few days and a second session with her the pain and tingling, which had been getting progressively worse for weeks, was gone. Again, not just looking for a quick fix (slapping on a brace), but she instead addressed the cause. If you are having any kind of back, shoulder, neck, hip, knee, etc, pain go see her, you won't be disappointed! read more

Dr. Mary Huffman has been my chiropractor for the past 5 years. She is one of the best doctors I know and I feel so fortunate to have her as my doctor. Without Dr. Huffman, I would be in so much pain. She truly cares for each of her patients and tries her very best to provide each of us good quality care. I did not have a good experience with Dr Huffman. She knew my care was part of an ongoing personal injury lawsuit, and she refused to charge my insurance so she could wait and get paid more through the lawsuit. Each week I would ask her about charging my insurance, because I wasn't getting any EOBs, she would shrug and say "that's weird I submitted it!" She was lying. When I finally pinned her down about it, MONTHS into treatment without any EOBs from my insurance, she rolled her eyes and said my insurance only pays $60 an hour (or whatever it was). That was the last time I saw her. If she doesn't like what insurance pays, then don't accept it! I was eventually able to get her to go through my insurance, but I had to threaten her with calling the chiropractor licensing organization in Illinois. read more

I could sit here all day singing the praises of Dr. Huffman, she is exceptional. I have lived in many different cities throughout my adult life, and have been the patient of 9 different chiropractors before Dr. Huffman. I've always liked my previous ones, they were all pretty much the same though, so I had no idea how beneficial chiropractic care could be until Dr. Huffman started treating me. The difference is astounding. She spends an hour with me every time, and she works my muscles; stretching them, relaxing them, working out the knots. I've learned this makes for an easier, more comfortable adjustment, and definitely more effective too. A massage therapist recommended her to me, and I think I'll be sending him flowers because Dr. Huffman's treatments have really improved my life. I can fall asleep easily now because I'm no longer distracted by constant shoulder and neck pain. I never knew chiropractic care could be like this, where the doctor takes their time and genuinely cares about their patients' long term health and comfort. Dr. Huffman has also taught me simple exercises that I can do to keep our momentum going and will help keep my neck & shoulder issues in line. After going to her for almost a month, I have confidence that the problems that have plagued me for years might actually be permanently cured with her ministrations. She is THAT different, she is THAT good. read more
