I've been going here for 2 separate issues. very pleased that one issue is resolved the other, my hand is getting better. the facility is clean, staff professional my only complaint is it's hard to get booked in a timely manner read more

This is my second review because they are so darn good! Unfortunately, I have had to utilize their services again. Different ailment but same fabulous care at Movement for Life in Templeton. Although there is a closer facility to my home, I prefer the Templeton staff. My condition has improved greatly. They know their stuff! read more

Great therapist but be prepared for appointments to be hit and miss. They don't have enough therapists but keep taking new patients. I had to switch to another group because not being seen regularly wasn't working. I wouldn't recommend going there to any of my friends. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this physical therapy group! I had knee surgery and was amazed at how quickly I recovered under the capable care of "Big Mike." He was compassionate, but pushed me to become active at a faster rate than I thought possible. I was going on a trip soon, and he even took the time to teach me how to best lift my luggage without setting my treatment back. I have now recovered to an even better physical condition than before my surgery. I confess, I am active, but older, so I have been to this group for both knees, and a twisted rib. I have worked with Jason, PJ, Kyle, and Mike. What I love is they give you exercises you can use to avoid injury in the future! I highly recommend Movement for Life! read more

I just finished physical therapy on my hand here at Movement for Life. Thanks to everyone that was involved in helping with my physical therapy. Very professional and friendly staff! I would highly recommend this business. read more

I am recovering from hand surgery and I have nothing but praise for the Physical Hand Therapists, Amy and Mike! They have given me great information and exercises to get my hand back in working order. Everyone in that office is kind and efficient. I would highly recommend! read more

I have been coming to this great facility for decades. Carpal tunnel surgery. Right and left shoulders. November December 2019, plantar fasciitis. They are the best in the county. My daughter is currently there as well for her back and a knee issue. Highly recommended. Don't hesitate to schedule here. read more

Great experience. Worked with michael who was nice and professional. We worked on some stretches and he did some measurements. Lots of people in here and if you dint feel comfortable it looks like they can close a curtain for you for privacy. They have weights for patients that need that I suppose for their therapy. I did not. It's on the first floor so no stairs or elevators. Parking lot is very big and I did not have a problem finding a spot. At the end they asked if I would like some heat and I said yes. They put these things on my lower back and they started producing heat which felt very nice. That's where I am while I write this. Michael printed out a sheet for my workouts and went over them with me again to make sure I understand it. One last thing. The receptionists that greeted me were super nice. They make you feel like you have known them for a while. read more

I broke my wrist 5 months ago and Movement For Life Physical Therapy was recommended for me. I just want to say everyone from the receptionists to all the therapists were excellent! I looked forward to my weekly visits. Mike, Amy, Troy and the aides Anthony and Alberto were very professional and kind to me. They made me want to get better and continue my exercises at home. I had my last session several days ago and I feel confident with all the tips and exercises that gave me. I highly recommend this office. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! read more

Graduation has always been a event to anticipate with joy and a feeling of accomplishment. I had excellent evaluation and treatment from Troy, Michael and Mark, regained strength, flexion and extension in my right wrist and hand after a fracture, and graduated! RATS. I didn't want to graduate! Yet accepted success as gracefully as possible! This practice walks its three "A" philosophy: Access, Activity, Atmosphere without fail. I'll be back-for any PT I may need in the future or simply to drop off a treat to say Thank You, again and again. Grateful. Nancy Fiske. read more

Mike Smith and his Hand Therapy team are unmatched in their knowledge, skill, customer service and caring. This is my 3rd time with them and they never disappoint! If you want the best, you'll want to reach out to them at Movement for Life Physical Therapy! read more

I have been a regular patient (2x per week) for over 6 months. While I have nothing but positive things to say about the therapists, I am extremely dissatisfied with the office staff. Specifically, the office manager, Lisa, is incompetent and rude. She confidently passes along misinformation. When I have tried to address issues with her, she does not take my calls or flat out lies. It has been nothing but a hassle dealing with her. All I want to do is pay them money to give me physical therapy. There's no reason for it to be difficult. Kinda wish I'd picked a different place. read more

I can't say enough good things about the team they have here! From check-in through each therapy session on my wrist, the team here was professional yet very friendly, encouraging and very informative. The exercise and treatment routine they worked out for me, both at the facility and for home, worked wonders! Mike, Troy and Mark you all have my sincerest thanks for the work you put into making me whole again! read more

My 33+ year-long computer-related desk job wreaked havoc on my body - carpal tunnel wrists, neck problems - and then when I did make efforts to move, hello Achilles tendinitis & plantar fasciitis. I watched my coworkers go through similar ailments and still experience pain after multiple surgeries, cortisone shots, etc. With the direction, knowledge, experience, and kind, patient support of the good people of Movement for Life, I was able to recover from my pain without surgery, cortisone, medication, etc. I also brought my elderly mother in for fall prevention and balance treatment. As far as my burning, painful carpal tunnel story goes, with treatment, guidance and direction from accomplished expert in his field, Mike Smith, I avoided surgery and served out my career (and beyond) pain-free with no time lost from work. The same is true for my neck and foot problems. Treatment consisted of stretches, exercises, hold/cold therapy, massage techniques, practical lifestyle tips, homework and more. Progress was regularly and accurately measured. The camaraderie, support, humor and mentorship between staff is remarkable. It is also apparent they are active supporters of community events. The office staff were always helpful and "on it". The sites are clean and comfortable. PT staff remained available to me when I had questions far after my treatment was completed. I only have praise for Movement for Life and am fortunate to have had their services. read more

I had constant pain in my hand after injuring it. I highly recommend going to S.L. Sports Therapy for treatment. They are professional, highly skilled and friendly. It's a clean office with several therapists. My hand is almost back to 100%. I saw Troy, Mark and Michael who specialize in hands. But they have several locations up and down the Coast. read more

I had hand therapy after a distal radial fracture with the hand therapy department of movement for life. I used both the San Luis Obispo and Templeton offices. I worked with Mike the head of the department and Amy and they were both knowledgeable helpful and pleasant to work with. I recommend them to anybody with issues with their hands. Thanks Mike and Amy read more

With qualified expert therapists for every kind of injury, you can be sure you will be in good hands here. You don't have to have a sports injury. They take care of everything for your best mobility, wellness, and comfort. Machines here for everything, too. They'll do an induction evaluation in order to make you the best personalized plan for you! Then they help you implement it. They work hard for your recovery and even occasionally provide therapeutic adjuncts like a door pulley, for example, as required. When I need therapy for injury or if I am post op, I know I'll be safe and well taken care of here. Up and about as soon as possible. Thanks, Jason Sanders, and the whole team. (Great Tee shirts too!) read more

Mike Smith and the team are excellent at what they do. I would strongly recommend their therapy. My wrist had little mobility when I began treatment and with the help of Mike, Troy and Mark I am using my hand and arm as I did before. Thanks Guys. read more

I have been to several therapy centers over the years, but San Luis Sports Therapy is definitely the premier place for your rehabilitation needs. This time I needed hand therapy following surgery. I most worked with Troy and Mark PT Assistant. Both were gentle, compassionate and friendly. They listened carefully to my concerns and addressed them. I also saw Michael a few time, he was equally wonderful. One warning, don't say it hurts, you will owe them a box of donuts . Be specific about your pain, this helps them to treat you more appropriately. I can't recommend them enough! read more

After suffering for over ten years with hand stiffness, I learned I have "severe arthritis". Not wanting surgery, I asked my doctor for a referral for hand therapy. She sent me to San Luis Sports Therapy where I met Mike Smith, Director of Hand/Arm/Shoulder Therapy. In only three sessions with Mike and his assistant, Mark, my hand progressed to the point where I was released to continue my exercises and therapy at home. I highly recommend Mike and his team! read more

I am 81 years old and have A mild case ofCOPD. My pulmonary doctor specifically referred me to JASON at SLST. As you can imagine, I have been to many physical therapists in my lifetime. Jason has helped me beyond anything I could have expected both in the physical therapy areaAnd in the educational area concerning my breathing and importance of exercise, etc. Jason and his Assistant, Lisa, both have charm and humor which helps the path to improvement so much more pleasurable! read more

Full knee replacements were installed on my 64 year old body on August 23rd and December 5th of 2017. I waited until 6 months after my last rehab appointment to write my critique. Jason and Adam were my "main men" during physical therapy on both knees. I shopped for the best prior to the surgeries knowing that the PT would be the key to getting back to normal. I didn't want short cuts and they didn't provide any. I'm certain they cater to every personality as they did for me. The PT progressed slowly at first, but progress came...and more progress and more until I knew the routine. They gave me the tools and I couldn't be more thankful. You guys really know your stuff and I suffer NO pain in either knee. Squats (deeper than before), burpees, stairclimber, cycling classes. I'm so thankful I found you. My advice to those seeking knee replacements...unless you're willing to go through some painful PT, look at another option. No pain, No gain has never been more true. You will be so thankful IF you put in the effort and you have the skill and support of San Luis Sports Therapy. Rick C. Templeton, CA read more

I thought that my Doctor was nuts when he recommended Hand Therapy for my severe hand pain. (They are full of Arthritis). Why would I want to do exercises when normal use was so painful? That didn't make sense to me. I had already been through Physical Therapy after a Knee Replacement and Rotator Cuff Surgery to get my full range of motion back. That was painful but was actually necessary. (Kudos to the team at San Luis Sports Therapy in Paso Robles: MacKensie, Jason and all. They were sympathetic but got the job done!) After I had Rotator Cuff Surgery I was waking up with total numbness in my hand and it was going numb when I was driving. Once again I was referred to San Luis Sports Therapy in Templeton. This time I went though I was still skeptical. HOWEVER, this was TOTALLY different! This is actually "Stop before the Pain" therapy! Michael Smith and Troy McClanahan were great. They taught me stretching exercises and I was instructed to "Feel the stretch but stop before you feel any pain". What a concept!!! In just a couple of months Mike and Troy helped me to improve the mobility in my fingers and thumb and I've been taught the "Smarter Way" to do daily chores to put less strain on my joints. They helped me relieve the numbness in my hand by having me do neck stretches and giving me driving positioning guidelines. Mike has also suggested other items that I use to support my hands in heavy use and ways to modify household items to make them more user friendly. This was totally different than expected and it has made a huge difference in my pain level. Mike patiently and thoroughly explained how all the joints, muscles and tendons work in your hand and how injury or arthritis and hand positioning affects that. Then you start to learn the techniques to minimize the pain. Who knew? SO... If you need Hand Physical Therapy, go for it. But make sure you go to the Templeton office and request Mike Smith. He and Troy will hook you up with the knowledge and tools that will help you minimize and/or eliminate pain. Do Not be Afraid... read more

I completed hand therapy after complicated wrist injuries to both wrists. Mike Smith PT and his PT Aid Mark, were extremely educated, caring and outcome driven in my treatment. The team has much education and training under their belts and understands current practices well. As a medical professional myself, I don't believe there was a question that they could not answer. My hand surgeon recommended this PT team after each of three surgeries and it is clear that they work together and communicate well. I will never go to another location for PT again. Thank you for working so diligently to help restore my health! L. Garrison RN read more

I am afflicted with a recurring hand disease. I tried another local therapy outfit and did not get good results. Mike Smith and his team have been highly effective in helping me recover from my second surgery. I have almost recovered completely and will certainly return when the next surgery will correct my other hand. They are extremely professional, personally concerned for their patients, and I would recommend this outfit to anyone! Lynne Martin read more

I have had the pleasure of being a hand therapy patient three times following surgery. My hand surgeon, Dr. Robert Ruth from Associated Hand Surgeons on the central coast always recommends the Templeton Branch of San Luis Sports Therapy. I have found the team to be friendly, professional, and EXTREMELY knowledgable. Dr Michael Smth has assembled a wonderful team of caring specialists who were able to answer every one of my questions. I have arthritis in both hands and wrist. The hand specialist team made me feel very comfortable. They were friendly, courteous, helpful, good sense of humor, knowledgeable and you can tell loved their jobs. The therapy exercise program for my condition was taught with simplicity and gentleness. They welcomed and answered all my questions and I was told to feel free to call upon them at anytime. I walked away with a wealth of information and confidence that I could help prevent this arthritis from progressing through diligently exercising my hands and wrists, use of support aids, incorporate tools to make my life easier without adding stress to my hands/wrist and by changing my stinking-thinking habits. Thank you Michael Smith, you are "No Ka OI", the best! Mahalo to Chris, Spencer, Troy, Mark and Bob. I sincerely appreciate your wonderful services. read more

I was referred to Karma Sage-Johnson by my surgeon in the Bay Area. I had a bad experience at a local physical therapist prior to the surgery and felt as though physical therapy wasn't very effective. Karma was professional, organized, and incredibly knowledgable. I have been to San Luis Sports Therapy for four different things over the last few years. Every time I have come away feeling great, and with a plan to stay that way. I recently had Jason Sanders for physical therapy on my back. He is truly excellent! He really listens, comes up with a program to help, then constantly monitors the progress and changes the program as we go along for optimum improvement. He is very positive, incredibly knowledgeable and quite personable. His assistant Adam is awesome. He's encouraging, organized, and he actually makes physical therapy fun. The office staff is very pleasant and efficient. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. If I need physical therapy in the future this is definitely where I'll come. read more

When I told my hand surgeon at Stanford Medical that I live in Paso Robles, CA, she immediately recommended that I see Dr. Michael Smith at San Luis Obispo Sports Therapy. As one of the premier hand surgeons in California, she has a close working relationship with Mike and a high regard for his work. Mike specializes in hand therapy, and has treated a very large number of patients. I am back now playing tennis with the hand on which I had surgery.
