I cannot say enough good things about this physical therapy group! I had knee surgery and was amazed at how quickly I recovered under the capable care of "Big Mike." He was compassionate, but pushed me to become active at a faster rate than I thought possible. I was going on a trip soon, and he even took the time to teach me how to best lift my luggage without setting my treatment back. I have now recovered to an even better physical condition than before my surgery. I confess, I am active, but older, so I have been to this group for both knees, and a twisted rib. Great experience. Worked with michael who was nice and professional. We worked on some stretches and he did some measurements. Lots of people in here and if you dint feel comfortable it looks like they can close a curtain for you for privacy. They have weights for patients that need that I suppose for their therapy. I did not. It's on the first floor so no stairs or elevators. Parking lot is very big and I did not have a problem finding a spot. At the end they asked if I would like some heat and I said yes. They put these things on my lower back and they started producing heat which felt very nice. That's where I am while I write this. Michael printed out a sheet for my workouts and went over them with me again to make sure I understand it. One last thing. The receptionists that greeted me were super nice. They make you feel like you have known them for a while. read more

I broke my wrist 5 months ago and Movement For Life Physical Therapy was recommended for me. I just want to say everyone from the receptionists to all the therapists were excellent! I looked forward to my weekly visits. Mike, Amy, Troy and the aides Anthony and Alberto were very professional and kind to me. They made me want to get better and continue my exercises at home. I have been a regular patient (2x per week) for over 6 months. While I have nothing but positive things to say about the therapists, I am extremely dissatisfied with the office staff. Specifically, the office manager, Lisa, is incompetent and rude. She confidently passes along misinformation. When I have tried to address issues with her, she does not take my calls or flat out lies. It has been nothing but a hassle dealing with her. My 33+ year-long computer-related desk job wreaked havoc on my body - carpal tunnel wrists, neck problems - and then when I did make efforts to move, hello Achilles tendinitis & plantar fasciitis. I watched my coworkers go through similar ailments and still experience pain after multiple surgeries, cortisone shots, etc. With the direction, knowledge, experience, and kind, patient support of the good people of Movement for Life, I was able to recover from my pain without surgery, cortisone, medication, etc. I also brought my elderly mother in for fall prevention and balance treatment. As far as my burning, painful carpal tunnel story goes, with treatment, guidance and direction from accomplished expert in his field, Mike Smith, I avoided surgery and served out my career (and beyond) pain-free with no time lost from work. The same is true for my neck and foot problems. Treatment consisted of stretches, exercises, hold/cold therapy, massage techniques, practical lifestyle tips, homework and more. Progress was regularly and accurately measured. The camaraderie, support, humor and mentorship between staff is remarkable. It is also apparent they are active supporters of community events. The office staff were always helpful and "on it". The sites are clean and comfortable. PT staff remained available to me when I had questions far after my treatment was completed. They take care of everything for your best mobility, wellness, and comfort. Machines here for everything, too. They'll do an induction evaluation in order to make you the best personalized plan for you! Then they help you implement it. They work hard for your recovery and even occasionally provide therapeutic adjuncts like a door pulley, for example, as required. I have been to several therapy centers over the years, but San Luis Sports Therapy is definitely the premier place for your rehabilitation needs. This time I needed hand therapy following surgery. I most worked with Troy and Mark PT Assistant. Both were gentle, compassionate and friendly. They listened carefully to my concerns and addressed them. I also saw Michael a few time, he was equally wonderful. One warning, don't say it hurts, you will owe them a box of donuts . Full knee replacements were installed on my 64 year old body on August 23rd and December 5th of 2017. I waited until 6 months after my last rehab appointment to write my critique. Jason and Adam were my "main men" during physical therapy on both knees. I shopped for the best prior to the surgeries knowing that the PT would be the key to getting back to normal. I didn't want short cuts and they didn't provide any. I'm certain they cater to every personality as they did for me. The PT progressed slowly at first, but progress came...and more progress and more until I knew the routine. They gave me the tools and I couldn't be more thankful. You guys really know your stuff and I suffer NO pain in either knee. Squats (deeper than before), burpees, stairclimber, cycling classes. I'm so thankful I found you. My advice to those seeking knee replacements...unless you're willing to go through some painful PT, look at another option. No pain, No gain has never been more true. I thought that my Doctor was nuts when he recommended Hand Therapy for my severe hand pain. (They are full of Arthritis). Why would I want to do exercises when normal use was so painful? That didn't make sense to me. I had already been through Physical Therapy after a Knee Replacement and Rotator Cuff Surgery to get my full range of motion back. That was painful but was actually necessary. (Kudos to the team at San Luis Sports Therapy in Paso Robles: MacKensie, Jason and all. They were sympathetic but got the job done!) After I had Rotator Cuff Surgery I was waking up with total numbness in my hand and it was going numb when I was driving. Once again I was referred to San Luis Sports Therapy in Templeton. This time I went though I was still skeptical. HOWEVER, this was TOTALLY different! This is actually "Stop before the Pain" therapy! Michael Smith and Troy McClanahan were great. They taught me stretching exercises and I was instructed to "Feel the stretch but stop before you feel any pain". What a concept!!! In just a couple of months Mike and Troy helped me to improve the mobility in my fingers and thumb and I've been taught the "Smarter Way" to do daily chores to put less strain on my joints. They helped me relieve the numbness in my hand by having me do neck stretches and giving me driving positioning guidelines. Mike has also suggested other items that I use to support my hands in heavy use and ways to modify household items to make them more user friendly. This was totally different than expected and it has made a huge difference in my pain level. Mike patiently and thoroughly explained how all the joints, muscles and tendons work in your hand and how injury or arthritis and hand positioning affects that. Then you start to learn the techniques to minimize the pain. Who knew? SO... If you need Hand Physical Therapy, go for it. But make sure you go to the Templeton office and request Mike Smith. I completed hand therapy after complicated wrist injuries to both wrists. Mike Smith PT and his PT Aid Mark, were extremely educated, caring and outcome driven in my treatment.
