I love food trucks!!! It's fun to have so many options in one place. I went for The Chairman's tofu burger, which was unexpectedly DELISH (unexpected bc I never had one and tofu is bland when not seasoned correctly). The sesame glaze was drool-worthy. I accompanied it with onion rings from another vendor. My only complaint is the lack of variety. I feel like it's limited to different versions of burgers, and I would like to see more types of cuisines. That doesn't keep me from returning though. :) Arrive before 8, as that's when they start packing up. read more

What a fun new event to check out in San Jose! We have been to Moveable Feast (or "Foodtruck extravaganza" as I think of it) twice now. It has always been really popular with people bringing their kids, dogs, and friends to hang out eating a wide variety of crazy ethnic fusion foods (kimchi quesadillas anyone?). The times I was there I saw a good dozen different kinds of trucks including ones selling dessert and coffee in addition to the regular characters (creole, BBQ, Indian, etc.). They have a bunch of 5-gallon buckets thrown out that people sit on and some outdoor gas heaters for cool evenings. The downside of the popularity is that the lines at the best trucks can be pretty lengthy. The fun part of it is that you can try all sorts of new things and you don't have to agree with your significant other/friends on a single type of cuisine for the evening. I'd recommend making sure you hit the bathroom before going (no facilities) and bring a jacket as it can get chilly as the sun goes down. Some trucks take credit cards but cash is going to be the easiest. read more

Gotta love food trucks and good variety. Chairman - Pork belly and coke braised pork. Both were delicious, but I'm a sucker for pork belly. So good. KoJa Kitchen - Short rib KoJa and kamikaze fries. The KoJa was just ok as the rice buns weren't that crispy. Kamikaze fries were interesting and very filling, but I'm not sure I would order them again. Parking was pretty easy. The lines get long, so either split up or get some food at one truck first and eat while you're in line at the next truck.. read more

So, I can't really compete with Ms. ROTD, but... yes, yes, and yes. The location of the event is perfect; just an illegal right turn (I may or may not have been in the left turning lane) and your there! The event is off of Curtner and just off of the freeway! Hungry? No. Well... neither were we. But we ate, and boy oh boy did we enjoy it! I had some gumbo, and my girl had a sandwich with sweet potato fries. There is seriously something awesome about eating from a fancy painted vehicle. It's like everything in your head says... "but it doesn't look like a roach coach", and the other part of you is like... "but how does it work?". The confusion just results in you stuffing your face in a line of more face filling food, among tuns of strangers. read more

What a fun thing to do on a Friday night with the family! We had a little guy with us (2 years old) and it was fun to grab some different food and tailgate with him out of the back of our truck. I wish I was able to try one of everything, but I probably would have exploded if I tried. This time around we tried the Sam's Lobster Roll, and some tacos from the taco truck (I can't remember the name). Both were super delicious! It was a fun atmosphere, music playing and families everywhere. They had red buckets to sit on, but we had our trucks with us so we went the tailgate party route. We had a great time and can't wait to do it again and try the other trucks. I'm already drooling thinking about it... read more

Moveable Feast!! A few things that I would love to eat again, but I forgot which truck it was. Overall there will be about 6 to 8 trucks with a variety of eateries or where you can get your veggies also. Tips to Keep in Mind: 01) Overall they switch off every friday, so expect changes and not the same trucks every so often. 02) Bring CASH!! Some trucks don't have machines for our plastic cards, but hey, a couple of them do, but just in case, bring a $20 03) If you're scared to buy something too expensive and it you seem unsure of the food or don't want to eat too much, bring a friend to try it out with you and pay half! That's how I usually do it when I come here! read more

I've been bugging the husband about going for awhile now and tonight was the night! We got there right around 7pm. There was plenty of parking. Some people brought their own tables and chairs. Note to self for next time. I'm sure they were more comfortable than us, we say on the red buckets provided. They weren't as flimsy as another reviewer mentioned. I'm 7+ months pregnant and I was ok with sitting on the bucket. The lines weren't that bad. 9 trucks total and I would say most trucks had approximately 10 people in line. And the lines moved pretty quickly. We ordered the Lucy Lucy from Babaloo. Juicy chicken Cuban sandwich. They didn't have plantains today. Sad face. I only ate half of my sandwich, just so i could sample food from the other trucks The husband got the kalbi burrito from BBQ Kalbi. We weren't impressed. We ordered it extra spicy, and spicy it was not. There was more rice than meat, and some of the rice looked like just plain white rice. Not impressed. The longest line by far was for Fairycakes. There were a lot of people walking around with a box of cupcakes. So I headed to that line next. They had cupcakes for $3 each, buy 5 and get the 6th free. I can never resist a deal, do I had to get 6. I ordered a salted caramel vanilla, salted caramel chocolate, peanut butter cup, upside down pineapple cake, and California dream. I got two of something, just can't remember which. Blame it Ob the pregnancy brain. But I couldn't just order 6 and the other flavors didn't sound exciting. I've only had the salted caramel vanilla cupcake and it was a bit sweeter than I preferred. They were a bit small for the price that you pay. But the cupcake was moist and it had the right amount of frosting. Oh, and there's free organic milk next to the sprinkles. Not sure if it's regular, non fat, or low fat, but it helps with the sweetness of the cupcakes! Something to note, most of the trucks accepted credit cards. They swipe your card and have you sign their iPhones and email or text you a receipt. So if you don't have cash on you, no worries. Also, it is a bit windy out here. I got cold in jeans and a sweater. But I'm sure as the weather gets better it won't be an issue. Will be back, I don't think I'll go back to the BBQ Kalbi truck, but definitely the Cuban Babaloo truck. Fairycakes is a maybe if there isn't another dessert truck out there. read more

Movable Feast has a great thing going as a smaller scale south bay equivalent to the Off The Grid food truck events that happen regularly in SF. Everyone of all ages is here enjoying themselves, going from truck to truck figuring out how try something from everywhere as quickly as possible before items run out or they are too full to continue. It's organized madness that is as reminiscent of a mall food court as it is an elementary school cafeteria. There is something for everyone from appetizers, entrees, and dessert. I recommend coming with a few friends so that you can split dishes and try as much of a variety as possible. One of my favorite touches is the upside down paint buckets that are used for seating. They are easy to grab and rearrange as people come and go. read more

I absolutely love it here. Stopped by three weeks ago and have been back every Friday since then. They change some of the trucks every week so there is always something new to try. The Chairman is my favorite - the pork belly steamed bun is delicious (although very fatty). I also liked the Korean tacos and the homed ice-cream. I love that it is family and dog friendly, I usually bump into someone I know. I like the very causal atmosphere. I have seen people tailgate in the parking lot which is a great idea. Pretty affordable. It is from 3-9 so it you come after 6pm it will get a little crowded but you still do not have to wait a long time. Most trucks take cards which is great but some only take cash - so bring some. read more

This place is like a festival! Hours are from 5:00 - 9:00pm and is usually located at the VTA parking lot, but tonight it was at the church across the street. Live music playing (I'm not sure if its only for the month of August), lots of places to sit, huge parking lots, cute lighting, and best of all, food trucks galore. I decided to try the Waffle Amore since I was craving something cold and already had tried TreatBot before in San Pedro (I did notice however, the truck at movable feast had more flavors to choose from though). The line for Waffle Amore was not bad if you have someone to talk to I guess. Like my boyfriend said after we got our ice cream waffle sandwiches ($8), "This is the longest I have waited for food truck food!" LOL. The ice cream waffle sandwich was really good! It has 3 scoops of treat vanilla ice cream on top of a crispy circular waffle drizzled with lots of nutella (they do NOT skimp on that!) My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our ice cream waffle sandwiches and would come again! read more

Good event for the community to rally around. Nothing different than the other Moveable Feasts in the different cities. Nothing different about the food trucks you follow on Twitter or FB - good place for people who are excited over the food truck business and want to try multiple trucks at one time. For me, I'm happy that it's in the location it's in because food trucks rarely go to that area - they're either in Milpitas or Kohl's on Blossom HIll or at Garden City - nothing really in the Central/Downtown area (the "Willow Glen" location isn't quite in Willow Glen as it is in the outskirts of Willow Glen). Anyway, good way to support your local businesses. I'm also impressed with the resourcefulness of the event coordinators - buckets for seats...brilliant! Ample parking within the park & ride but beware of the traffic on Curtner which backs up because of the event. Also beware of the idiot pedestrians who park/walk across the street at Curtner and play Frogger with the cars because they want to try and get to MF quickly and not wanting to wait for the pedestrian light to go green - I've seen 3 people in the past 2 weeks pull this stupidity. read more

I really like that despite the cold weather, people came out to go to this. I'm wondering how they will cope when the warmer weather arrives. Ample parking, good selection of food and desserts and a friendly crowd. I'm not a fan of the seats they have - some are buckets and some are rickety fold out chairs you see at garden weddings. You know the kind -- you wonder if your 85 pound mom would break it because it looks so flimsy! My 85 year old mom (ok, so I'm aging her by a few years!) didn't break the chair, but I had a good time. I've been to a couple of food truck things and by far, this is one I enjoy. I do have to say, I'm always surprised by how the crowd cleans up after themselves - you'd expect them to be messy and uncaring. It's nice to see that the crowd cares enough to clean up. read more

Come in the summer and graze through a dozen food trucks chock full of goodness. You'll find families setting up their chairs around the car and sending in runners for their favorites or just grab a red bucket for a chair and people watch while you munch. read more

Moveable Feast - Rain! - Food Trucks Near Me

Interesting take on street food sweeping the bay area that is so drastically not 'street food' except its sold on the streets. Well maybe it tries to be but definitely not street food prices. Or maybe if I was younger, I'm paying for the social aspect also. 'The Chairman' truck... A+ all the way. Fun take on steamed buns or a mini burger on fresh buns from the Chinese bakery. Yummmmm There is a pork belly option. Pork roasted in coke. Chicken and grilled tofu. each comes with a very nice accompanying fresh pickled or not pickled veg root topping. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. $3.75 for steamed and think $6 something for the 'baked buns'. An's 'FAMOUS' Garlic Noodles. For the starch just have to have that noodle fix .. this would be your solace. Thick infused noodles with garlic you can have with option of veg or grilled skewar meats. Pretty good around $9 a pop. Curry up Now was out of Kathi rolls .. so on to the next truck. The other half felt like he needed meat since went with the garlic noodles all veg. One of his employees geared him towards a .. hmm.. well lets put it this way. Either you are popular or not. And if there are less than five folks in the line at a truck, ya might want to keep moving. Soooo disapointed .. the wrap was not a wrap but a poorly slopped together thick pita bread. Think the sauce was not maybe sitting chilled properly and was very sour. Meat half raw in some of the pieces. But we had brought that one home .. Anyway fun place for the area workers to grab a bite after work.. people watch.. got a kick out of the folks who were prepared like it was their job! Tables set. Coolers of beverages. I guess if you were really creative this would beat the usual happy hour. Grab your colleagues, a cooler of your liquid desire, everyone bring a chair and it's onnn!! Hence if your like me with your other half and an eight year old in tow...for $60 it's not a fun event. Next time I'm going alone!!! :) read more

I've seen people there complaining about the lack of seating but I can't be moved by their plight. We strap out lawn chairs to the back of our bikes and enjoy the people watching and amazing eats! Good food and get there before 6 if you are driving! read more

oh, hubba hubba. I live close, I drive by often, and think, why didn't i stop to eat here? Well, tonight! I did it. and I was sad. Seriously Sad. Because I could only eat from one truck. I want to taste everything. the smells as you walked by each truck were fabulous. I love the idea. I love the implementation. I will be a regular. as a plus? my dining companions turned some local kids onto "RateMyPoo.com" to the chagrin of the parents, and eventual peals of laughter from everyone. Seriously - Moveable Feast? Brilliant idea. Thank you. read more

A year ago, I'd give them 4 stars if not 5. It's nice that Moveable Feast has at least established something of a food truck scene in the South Bay. But there are a couple flaws with Moveable Feast Willow Glen, the South Bay's premier food truck event... (1) The location. It's just too far south for an event during Friday rush hour. In case anyone hasn't noticed, PM traffic in the South Bay is always a complete disaster on all freeways going south from Sunnyvale to south San Jose, especially on Friday (Something to do with all the jobs being up there and all the residential hoods being down there...) Seems like the ideal location would be a little further up, like Sunnyvale, Cupertino, or Mountain View, so nobody would have to deal with that brick wall of traffic until after the event, at which point it usually clears up anyway. (2) There's a decent variety of food trucks for the South Bay, but it just doesn't compare with Off the Grid in SF. Having the lineup at least rotate a little from week to week would be a good start. (Perhaps not Moveable Feast's fault, as that depends on people being willing to start up new food trucks, but a minus nonetheless, especially because of (1) above) read more

I have been to MF time and time again from their Blossom Hill location to this one near the Curtner light rail station Each time they are crowded and have a wide array of food trucks for almost anyones palette. Seafood, to Korean, to American, Vegetarian, Chinese, and many more options, along with Fairycakes for dessert there is pretty much something for everyone It becomes quite the social outing as you can mingle freely with other customers and the staff for each truck is always in a talkative mood. read more

Great reason for a tailgate party with friends. This is gourmet food on wheels. Every truck sells something unique and fantastic. My favorites: Lobster Rolls - Sam's Chowder Mobile Short Rib Kamikaze Combo- Koja Kitchen Short Rib Tacos- Mogo's BBQ Lomo Saltado- Sanguchón Peruvian This is just a starters list of the amazement you will find at Moveable Feast! read more

I had a great experience with my food here. I had a Cheese Steak from Oh Miso Hungry and it was a nice blend of sweet and spicy - a bit different than I have had before. I was expecting to have to put jalapeños on it to give it a little kick. The only disappointment is that the pricing is a bit high at around $10 per meal without drink. I guess it is trendy now so they can make good money. Good and bad, it is definitely not the roach coaches of the past. read more

Eaten here a couple of times on the way to or from volunteering @ the SJ Animal Center (SJACC). ALWAYS ADOPT! This location is convenient right off 87 and in a big parking lot. Tried a couple of things and it was good-okish. Would come back again since the trucks change a little. read more

Probably my favorite location thus far for MF, because every time I've been there the best food trucks have been there. Everything from Soulenese to Sam's Chowder Mobile can be visited weekly. However, since the best food trucks are always here, the lines are ridiculously long. It's great to come in groups and bring cash so you can split up and save places in line. I love food trucks. Years ago I moved down to Orange County and they have a moveable feast called "food truck Wednesdays" at the OC fair grounds every week, I think they do it on Thursdays as well. The Willow Glen location is conveniently located off 87 and Curtner. The parking lot is decent. But traffic is a pain (I took the side streets to avoid the freeway)! My recent Friday night here was mellow. I was told the truck options were more in the past but, at this time, the pumpkin patch is sharing the lot. The crowd and the music was a good mix (music was reminiscent of my teens; ie: No Doubt, ska/dub, etc). I was looking forward to the Chairman (steam buns) but they were not there. I failed to thoroughly check the list of attendees prior. But I enjoyed Hula Truck and Sam's Chowdermobile. My Hula Truck order consisted of "Da Situation" (it's like tater tot nachos). With an egg on top and Kalua Pork. And, "Boom Plate" (papaya salad) with lechon kawali, no egg. Both were good! And, Sam's Chowdermobile: The lobster roll was good. But the clam chowder was basic. Overall, I would return! It is on the expensive side. I recommend bringing your own soda/water. Treatbot sounds good but not sure if they offer Ube anymore. read more

Had the Kamikaze fries and BBQ beef from KOJA. Oh so good!

5 stars for The Chairman and the rest would get 3 stars. The Chairman makes the best pork belly sandwich, so go to their long line, be patient, and then pace yourself as you devour the sandwich. read more

Trucks on trucks on trucks! This is the ultimate casual dining experience, complete with red buckets as chairs and makeshift tables. Sometimes folks will bring their folding chairs and tents to camp out in the parking lot with their families. There is a plethora of food trucks that offer a variety of food to satisfy each individual's unique palette. I enjoyed pretty much everything my bf and I ordered - a kamikaze dog from Road Dogs, roti curry from Thai Thai, pulled pork waffle from Waffle Amore, and an ice cream donut sandwich from Frozen Kuhsterd. Most of the establishments on wheels accept debit/credit cards so YAY. Also, this event is dog friendly so long as your pup is well-mannered. Make sure to dress warmly and bring a jacket as it is off the freeway and can be very cool and windy outside. read more
