Old equipment that needs replacing, sanitizing tissues that never get restocked, sanitizer pumps that haven't been refilled for months, weights everywhere, etc. Filed a harassment complaint earlier this year, been months and still haven't heard back. Matter of fact, saw the perpetrator working out and yelling aggressively at other patrons the other day, lol. If you want a clean gym with members who are respectful of maintaining a clean locker room and facility and know how to pick up towels, paper, trash and even broken glass then avoid this facility which is not up to the normal standards of other Movati locations. Should management at least try to train or instruct their members at this Movati location to be more respectful of a higher standard normally found at other gyms including other Movati Gyms. Of course. Does this gym need an upgraded direction as many feel that it is in very poor condition with some very uncaring, undisciplined members? Where is Movati management and decent club standards? Should there be a corporate level set of club standards? Should they be enforced at this facility which some feel is trending towards unhealthy conditions and needs a deep clean and a new direction. read more

After being a member since opening, I had to quit, due to several reasons (all fixable) but management do not accept complaints, suggestions at all. - the cleanness is a big issue, the change room. shower area is not very clean (several members I was acquitted with openingly said that they won't take a shower there) - due to the uncleanness of the change room. I got a very severe foot infection that took over three months of special medical treatment. I started after that to use sandals in the change shower area - it's common that members do not wipe the machine after use - endless use of cell phones sitting on machines for 15 to 30 minutes without using the machine, and when asked to use the machine, verbal nasty attacks - I was actually threatened a couple times, as when on a machine, one crazed individual came over claiming shouting, although no one was using the machine, physically threatening me for using it, claiming he was using it, although no one was on - when at the bar ordering a milk shake, I foolishly left my wallet to get my drink someone stole the dollar bills out of the wallet (heard having something stolen does happens) - although there is a sign asking members to remove shoes or boots before entering the change room, practically no one removes shoes or boots when entering the change room - I recommended that a policy board of rules be placed in the training areas (one was placed on the wall years ago, but not anymore. When I asked whether one could be posted again, the person(s) walk away - it's common groups of younger members gang up on a machine, monopolizing it, using cell phones, not allowing others to use it read more

Every-time I go to Movati I have anxiety from their "inclusion" policy which essentially allows men into the women's change room. I'm to afraid to complain because I don't want my membership revoked. Every-time I get changed I'm paranoid and am constantly looking about the room around me. It feels very sexist to women, to completely disregard their safety just to make men feel comfortable. I want to update my previous review as my main point was that the reservation system implemented during COVID was very competitive and made it difficult to book a class (as reported by friends who attended when capacity was quite limited). However, now that capacity has increased, it is not terribly hard to make a reservation as classes no longer fill up within a few minutes of the start of time to book a reservation (73 hours before a class).. Some classes do fill up, but some have spaces as late as the day of the class. And some folks with reservations may not show up, I'm told, so someone without a reservation is sometimes allowed in by just showing up if there is space available right before the class. The Movati app does tell you how many spots are available and how many are on the wait list already, which is helpful. I have not been on a waiting list since I activated my membership, so I cannot speak to how well the wait list notifications are working. It wasn't working well the one time I was on it and got notified as a class ended that now I could go to the class! I hope this has improved. Overall, my experience since returning after the re-opening to almost full capacity has been positive. read more

The equipment is maintained better than it used to be, even though the gym is busier than it used to be. Biggest complaint would be the overuse of perfumes and colognes by users. Decent facilities, but rude and confrontational staff. When they provide personal training to other customers they monopolize machines for long times, and they actually talk to their customers, who just sit on the machines rather than workout. When they finally freed the machine that I needed, the trainer came back after after I started my workout, and told me that they were still using that machine -they left a bottle there. I started my workout again, but the trainer kept telling me that they needed that machine. Finally their manager contacted me, and rather than attempt to defuse the situation adopted a confrontational attitude and lectured me about "sharing" machines - something I'm more than willing to do, unless their staff prevent me from working out. Overall, both staff and management provided me with a very unpleasant experience. read more

Please rethink joining this club! I had a personal trainer take pictures of me while training. I expressed my concerns to management and never heard back! Filing a complaint by email is useless! They give you a ticket to respond, but then tell you not to respond to email! Was not issued a refund for a training session that I used 1/10 because I felt so violated! Over 6 years paying almost 70$ a month.... I am happier now to keep my money and walk outside in nature which is extremely healing all in its own! They are horrible with customer service esp. the Barrhaven location! read more

I love this gym. I'm a new member but I'm there almost every day. The classes are great and included in the membership price. There are pools, a steam room, dry sauna, hot tub, lots of machines, and the treadmills can track in Km (which is important for me). The areal fitness and areal yoga classes are such a blast and quite the work-out. I have yet to try some of the other features but so far, it's all great. The gym offered a military discount as well, which was a big bonus for us, and I'm very grateful - military can also cancel without penalty if posted or sent on tour. A group of four of us have all joined together and we love it. Happy customer so far! read more

I am not a member of this gym but a friend recommended me for their free trial and I kept getting phone calls and texts asking me to come in for a visit. Constantly too even when I would actively ignore them or even said no. My friend has now gone through the same exact thing. No disrespect to the actual services provided by the gym but there's got to be a better way of soliciting new members to the gym or it being a one off question. read more

Be careful before joining this club. They are charging me and taking money from my account ahead of time for services that they are not able to offer. The gym is closed due to the pandemic, but they are still withdrawing money from my account. When I sent an email to the service desk asking them to refund me, I was threatened that my balance will be sent to their collection agency. I understand businesses are under pressure due to the pandemic, but hey Movati! At least hire someone who has had customer service training and knows how to communicate with the customers! read more

Love coming here ! The staff make you feel super welcome, when I first started coming Nancy helped me and now when I workout she remembers me by name which is excellent customer service in my opinion. Movati offers classes that are all included so if it's in your budget it beats good life for sure. The equipment is sometimes busy so I usually choose What to work out based on that unless I wanna just share a machine. Professional, motivating, fun! I would normally not relate these terms with a gym! Most clean gym I have ever been to. Membership includes drop in classes! Ladies, the women's only section has their own pool, hot tub, wet sauna, dry sauna, studio, and equipment room which has a nit of everything. Just try their one day pass! If they don't have their one day pass on, call and talk with someone. Request one and try Movati out. I promise you that you will never invest on yourself better. I was really disappointed with they're classes. I was especially disappointed with their customer service. They left things in the dark and did not give me all the correct information, when I signed up for my membership, I asked if there were different kinds of membership, the guy responded with no. Naturally I took his word for it and guess what, there were TWO other different kinds of memberships that I could have signed up for. ( I would have signed up for them). He also failed to mention that you only had a 10 day grace period to cancel your membership. I wrote an email to them and got a call back, the person wasn't very apologetic and didn't even attempt to try making things better. He said there was nothing he could do. Worst Movati location I have ever visited! Staff totally lack professionalism. Nice facility. Adequate instructors, but that's about it. There is absolutely zero respect for club rules and policies from both staff and members. Not only are there kids under 18 running around without adult supervision misusing equipment, but the over 18 members don't seem to know how to conduct themselves in accordance with club policies, and the staff don't care. Dress code? What dress code? I regularly see women working out in their sports bras and men in the hot yoga studio with no shirts on. I also notice it's rare that patrons wipe of their cardio equipment after use. Have also had instructors plug their own external business endeavors using class time, which I feel its a conflict of interest and lacks professionalism. Cell phone use in locker rooms is rampant despite clear signage. I regularly see women talking on their phones, video-chatting and taking pictures inside the women's locker room; staff just walk by without saying anything. I have even reported a member for taking a picture inside the locker room only to see that person again at the club a week later. Needless to say, the "automatic termination of membership" policy was not enforced. I have been to other Movati locations where none of these issues are a problem, so please don't let that deter you from the chain altogether. read more
