If you are anyone else, i.e. not young, not interested in competing, this is a terrible school. You are treated like a cash cow for the competitors. I was a member for over a year, not ONCE did an instructor correct a technique, adjust a stance, or give individual advice. Classes are run like machines. Everyone does the same thing at the same time with the instructor barely looking at the students. When the class is finished, the next one comes in so there are no opportunities to ask questions. The classes are physically demanding so you definitely get a good workout but if you are interested in being a better martial artist, forget it. If all you want is a workout, you are better off joining their cardio kick boxing class (which is very good). I've been a student in martial arts classes in Toronto, Ottawa, London (England), and San Francisco. I had high hopes for Douvris since they have a great competing reputation. However, my competing days are behind me and I was disappointed that at Douvris, the instructors would not look twice at me, despite my obvious enthusiasm and passion for martial arts. If you are a student of the martial arts and over 30, this is not the school for you.

I have been going to Douvris since the beginning of February, 2016. I signed up for the Total Body…read moreTraining program. This allowed me to attend up to 10 classes per week. The classes range from Power (boxing gloves and punching bag), Precision (team up with someone and practice sparring with boxing gloves), and Strength (exercise with weights and cardio). Each class is led by an enthusiastic and friendly instructor who know their routines. They inspire and motivate us, along with the great music playing in the background. At first, I was attending three classes per week. But, after a few months, I upped that to four classes per week. I am feeling fantastic! I have lost at least 2 inches on my waist and have gained 5 pounds. No, that isn't fat. :) Tomorrow, I am moving to Orleans, so I won't be going here anymore. I will miss it greatly. I thoroughly recommend this location if you are wanting to get in shape in a fun and entertaining way.

I spend a whole lot of time in this GoodLife. When I first started coming here, I had just moved to…read moreOrleans and had been going to the City of Ottawa gym in Vanier. So obviousyl compared to the City of Ottawa gym in Vanier, this big fancy GoodLife was like gym heaven! It has been 8 months since then, so my opinions have evened out a bit, and I am not ready to write this GoodLife the review it deserves! First of all, this location is big. It is in a new-ish plaza on Tenth Line, and has lots of parking. The other stores in the plaza are a Christian thrift store, a dollar store, and a computer store. There's a big open industrial feel inside, which I prefer to the claustrophobic feeling of some other locations. There is lots of cardio equipment, including a long row of treadmills, ellipticals, steppers, stair mills, and four Concept-2 rowers. There are 3 squat racks, a smith rack, some Nautilus circuit machines, 3 cable setups, two bench press benches, two leg presses... there's more, but that's all I can think of at the moment. This location has child minding at designated hours. There is a workout classroom with yoga/zumba/body pump/ all those types of classes, and a spin room. There's actually a pretty good selection of classes. Not normally my jam, but I see why others would like that. This location has towel service (not all locations do -- a tough thing to learn the hard way!) The people working at the Tenth Line location are pretty awesome. Always nice and friendly. This place is super busy on Friday and Saturday nights. More often than not the gym bros are pretty polite here. One out of every ten is a jerk, so just keep your guard up. I go in the mornings before work, and I find that it's not too busy. I like it! I pay $100/month for me any my husband's memberships, which allows us to go to any location in Canada, didn't require us to sign a contract, and includes towel service. I really enjoy going to this GoodLife.
