BEWARE - Deceptive Sales Tactics & Zero Accountability at Movado Arundel Mills!
If you're considering shopping at the Movado Company Store at Arundel Mills, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. My experience here was not only frustrating and dishonest but also an absolute masterclass in gaslighting from both the sales associates and management.
Let me break it down:
I initially visited the store on February 16, 2025, interested in purchasing the Movado Trend Bangle Watch, 30mm (Silver & Blue) for my birthday. The sales associate, Alfred, strung me along for 40 minutes, convincing me to come back later in the week because he was "sure" there would be a better sale coming up. He even commented on my Coach watch, saying that the Movado I wanted was "a step closer to luxury" and assured me I was making the right choice.
What he failed to mention during our entire conversation was that there was an active Presidents' Day sale offering up to 70% off plus an additional 40% off--a deal that would have allowed me to purchase both watches instead of one. At no point did the store display any signage or advertisements about the sale--just a small clear sign on the counter listing the watch at $199. It's almost as if they didn't want customers to know about the better deal so they could push more expensive options instead.
When I returned on March 1, 2025, I was met with an even bigger insult. Instead of helping me with my original purchase, Alfred handed me off to a colleague who aggressively pushed watches priced over $1,000, completely ignoring my requests. When I finally got Alfred's attention, I asked why he didn't tell me about the sale when I was there. His response? "It was word-of-mouth"--as if that's an excuse for misleading a customer for almost an hour!
The worst part? Management at Movado Arundel Mills is just as deceptive and unhelpful.
When I reached out to the store to speak to a manager about this experience, I was met with zero accountability and a total lack of professionalism. Rather than acknowledging the oversight and attempting to make things right, they completely dismissed my concerns and acted as if I was in the wrong for even asking. Instead of honoring the Presidents' Day sale price or the coupon listed on the Movado website, they proceeded to offer me the same watch at full price, as if there was no reason for my complaint at all.
The entire interaction felt like a scam designed to push customers into buying overpriced items while keeping them in the dark about actual deals. And since Movado Company Stores don't allow returns or exchanges, once you buy, you're stuck--exactly how they want it.
BOTTOM LINE: If you shop here, expect to be misled, upsold, gaslit, and completely disregarded if you catch onto their tactics. The management doesn't care about integrity, they care about squeezing as much money out of you as possible. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID THIS STORE AT ALL COSTS. read more
