When I tell you, Brilliant Earth and Zoe knocked me off my feet, I am not exaggerating. This experience from start to finish was exceptional. Zoe was EXTREMELY knowledgeable, professional, friendly, kind, and so much more. She made this experience absolutely amazing for us. Before our appointment, she reached out to touch base about our interests and likes / dislikes. Upon arrival, she was able to point out and show us all the pieces that aligned with our interests. She did show us other pieces as well, just to make sure we were given all of the options and we were able to mark those items off our lists. Any question we had, she had the answers. She did not make us feel dumb when asking even what may have seemed like a small, or silly question. She walked us through all of the steps and made sure to touch base on all of the aspects of the engagement ring buying process, some topics we didn't even think to touch base on before she brought them up. Zoe was extremely patient and so helpful during our appointment. She made sure we felt understood and heard, she prioritized our wants and needs. We were most interested in lab created diamonds for both of our rings, something in solitaire settings, and later on, more intricate wedding bands. She took her time when going through options with the 4 C's and again, answered any and all questions we had with confidence and clarity. I was in the market for a sapphire…read moreengagement ring and the only other tip I had from my girlfriend at the time was that it should "sparkle." I did some research online to figure out what style ring I wanted. I came in to Boris' store, he asked me what my budget was, what kind of ring I wanted (sapphire and "sparkle"), took a look at the pictures from my research, and handled all of the rest. He put together a mock-up of the ring, offered his own suggestions (all of which I thankfully took), and then ordered the stones for the ring. When the stones arrived, he offered honest assessments of different sapphire stones, never being pushy, and even offered to discount a nicer sapphire so that it could fit into my budget. I am a busy graduate student, so my hours are not the most flexible; Boris was exceedingly accommodating, offered to meet me whenever was convenient for me (and would text me when I could not meet in person), and even offered to pay for my parking meter. When the ring finally arrived, it was more beautiful than what I had pictured in my mind and it was all the better knowing that it was a completely unique, original ring. My fianceé adored the ring and loved that it was custom-made for her. When the ring ended up being too big for my fiancée's fingers, Boris was incredibly polite and dedicated to re-sizing the ring; it was a difficult job because of how much the ring needed to be down-sized (it was a whole size too big with a very ornately decorated band). When he tried and it didn't work out, he re-made the band from scratch and only charged me for the service fee. Boris has an unparalleled commitment to excellence and customer service. He will work alongside you to make sure that when you're ready to pop the big question, you'll have on-hand an individualized, carefully-crafted ring that your partner will love. An anecdote emphasizing how dedicated Boris is to his craft: he asked me how I found out about the shop, and said that he hoped it was not from online. He said he's worried that people will share photos of the rings he's made online and future customers ask him to make identical ones, undermining the uniqueness of his rings for his customers. I was really moved to learn that he was willing to sacrifice online promotion of his business for the sake of his craftsmanship and his customers' happiness with their rings. The only point of clarification is that there are two shops with the same name (both are run by Boris and his wife, Svetlana). The one listed on Yelp is the one on E Baltimore street, which has a wider selection of jewelry beyond engagement rings and is where Svetlana works. Boris is based in the store on Lexington Avenue. This might save you an unnecessary trip to the wrong store, but if you do make the mistake like I did, the stores are a quick walk away from each other and Boris/Svetlana will help direct you to the store you want.

The manager of this store is a scam artist who charged me for a ring I never bought…read more It started when I went into the store in early June looking for an engagement ring. The store manager Shawanna sat down with me, and the first thing she asked was if I would like to get pre-approved for 0% financing, and I accepted. We then looked at some ring settings and diamonds. When I went to leave, Shawanna asked me if I 'd like her to hold the ring and diamond we looked at, and I said yes. She then asked me to sign something. I told her specifically that I had not yet made a decision and did not want to commit to buying anything at that moment. She said that's fine, and that the signature was only to hold the ring for me. She said she would call me back Thursday to see if I had made a decision (it was a Monday). Shawanna never called me, I never went back to the store, and I ended up buying a ring elsewhere (at a place that offered me a much better price on a diamond). Fast-forward to about 5 weeks later, I get a statement in the mail for my new Reeds Jewelers credit card that I never signed up for, with a $4200 charge on it for a ring I never bought. Apparently Shawanna decided to use the information I gave her for the pre-approval to create a credit card in my name and charge a ring to it. When I went back to the store, I was told only Shawanna could give me a refund, and that she was scheduled to come in at noon but usually came in late. I waited around for about an hour and a half while they tried to get her on the phone. When they finally reached her she OK'd the refund and the money was refunded back to the credit card. Moral of the story: never sign anything until you're ready to buy. And definitely don't trust Shawanna with any personal information.
