OMG!!!! The pork shoulder sandwich was incredible. It had a thin crusted layer of cheese on top of this heavenly crusty yet ever so soft french bread. It definitely deserved the serrated knife and fork. When you take a bite the pork just melts in your mouth. I'm Already thinking of coming g back for it. One reviewer complained of flies. So romantic serving delicious meals, they even start you off with a mis-a-bouche that was unexpected, ours were bite-sized cod fritters with homemade mayo sauce. Excellent food. We were given a complimentary amuse-bouche to start of cod fritters. The mushroom and cheese tart appetizer was very good but a bit soft. The dinner entree of steak was also very good. The pork stew was fantastic. Service was friendly and attentive. We ate early (6pm) and didn't experience the long wait time for food that others did. We came here upon a recommendation by our friends. The place was a little underwhelming. Even though we made reservations, they put us at a small table, where there were flies and mosquitoes constantly flying around and people passing by us. The decor of the place is somewhat rustic, though with nice paintings hanging everywhere (probably gotten from the many local galleries in the town). The food was probably above average, but nothing impressive. The portions were relatively small, especially given the prices. What a perfect restaurant! We had some of the best food we've ever eaten...skillfully prepared and perfectly balanced flavors. Desserts were impeccable. Service is friendly. The restaurant is really very unpretentious while serving some high caliber dishes. One slight negative thing to note is that some of the waitresses are young student part time job types. For example, the young lady wasn't able to answer some basic questions we had and got some descriptions wrong - no big deal to me. They were all friendly and smily, so it's all good. Perfectly fine, but unremarkable. Nice ambiance, good location, nice staff. Appetizer: Tartare de boeuf à l'Asiatique. I was intrigued when told that "à l'asiatique" meant there would gingembre in there. I didn't taste much of that. It was a good, basic tartare, but quite bland. Main: Boudin noir. Again, good but not great. Presentation was a bit of a mess: boudin on top of asparagus, on top of pear, on top of mashed potatoes, on top of... The boudin itself was very creamy/soft; it fell apart completely. Crème brulée was all cold. I like a bit of contrast in my crème brulée, but maybe it's just me. The waiter was very nice and personable. Unfortunately, even if our orders were very simple, he still forgot a couple of the things we asked for. His table check-ups seemed rushed, and he never asked if we needed more wine (I did). Overall, it was an alright meal, but I feel that the quality/price ratio wasn't all that favorable. read more

I arrived in Saint Paul ville at like 11:00 AM after like 2 hour walking in village i get to hungry and tired we ( me and my family) asked for a good restaurant near us they said yeah there is a place making something special black sheep!!!!! what?! OK let see what is this black sheep! after all we went there for try that steak delicious and tasty and it came with salad or soup i selected the soup! you know always french foods are different you can't ignore them you know! the negative thing is just one of the waiters knows English the servant who serving the dessert didn't know English!! and he must get help of other waiter. but the point is i was lucky cause of choosing soup you must try their soup it was wonderful! i can't forget the taste of that soup and the dessert was usual! like other french restaurant! We were starving after a long drive, so I think that may have provoked the fifth star, but we had a great dining experience. Great food but the manager made us very uncomfortable. We were sitting on a table by the kitchen and we could see and hear the manager yelling a being very mean to his waiters/waitresses. Do yourself a favor and skip lunch if you are coming here for Dinner. All meals are served Table d'hôte style so that you get to sample many things, however the portions are generous and you won't want to stop eating. A very quaint place that is a nice spot if you are a couple on a romantic date or with a small group of friends. Service was friendly and sufficient. The food was lackluster. It was not bad, but not near the levels of admiration given by other reviewers. I ordered the braised lamb and while while it was tasty, the meat was rather dry and chewy. My guest had the Cuisine de Pintade (guinea fowl) and had a similar reaction - dry and chewy. The vegetables and the sides were outstanding and very fresh. And they came out nice and hot! Giving this restaurant four stars. I had a cod fish over vegetables and mashed potato that was moist, flavorful, simply delicious (loved the lemon butter sauce). Others in the party had the lamb burgers, the corque monsieur, and suasage sandwich. All enjoyed their entrée and appetizers. The place itself is rustic and intimate. Lovely restaurant overlooking the river in a relaxing setting. We stopped in for a very late lunch and they were still able to seat and serve us. Service excellent. Gazpacho was wonderful with creative presentation. Skirt steak and hamburger dishes savory and all around yummy. Sangria was refreshing. We paid the extra $ to get cappuccinos after the meal instead of coffee. Nice foamy top, but underneath it tasted more like a regular (weak) coffee than an espresso. Overall it is a good place. Watch what you order. If you like traditional recipes you might get surprised (can't tell whether or not it will be pleasant). We went there in January 2017. I don't remember the name of my main dish but it was something like a "Boeuf Bourguignon en croute". It's basically a beef stew served in a pot with a crust of pastry on top. The stew was very good, well cooked with soft and flavorful vegetables in it. The meat was tender, full of sauce and flavorful. The meat tasted good, It didn't have the "dirty cow" flavor that you usually taste in North American beef meat (usually grown with corn). The crust mix well with the stew. I would argue that the crust was too sweet and gave a slight sugary taste with the stew which I'm not a fan of. That plate was a 4.5 for me. My gf had "magret de canard" (Duck breast). She is an unconditional lover of Magret de Canard... yet this dish didn't delight her.To her defense, I don't agree with the mix of green mango and Magret de Canard. It just didn't mix well together. There was way too much green mango and a very tangy one. The Magret just tasted like a sweet green and tangy mango. It didn't have the strong and characteristic taste of duck magret. That dish was a 2.5 for me. In total it's a 3.5 which I rounded up to 4 because the appetizers were good. read more

The service was absolutely amazing. Very professional, precise and not snob. The food was so so. We took a cauliflower gaspacho that was way too rich, the chef went over and above on the cream. Then we took a special dish: lobster tagliatelle . It was good but too salty we couldn't really taste the lobster. But everything was perfectly cooked ; the pasta and the lobster .
