    Pork sandwich
    Alberto V.

OMG!!!! The pork shoulder sandwich was incredible. It had a thin crusted layer of cheese on top of this heavenly crusty yet ever so soft french bread. It definitely deserved the serrated knife and fork. When you take a bite the pork just melts in your mouth. I'm Already thinking of coming g back for it. One reviewer complained of flies. In all honesty you can't seem to escape them anywhere up here in July. Despite the flies, the terrace ambiance is lovely nestled by the St Lawrence river.

We sat on their beautiful terrace overlooking the water. So romantic serving delicious meals, they even start you off with a mis-a-bouche that was unexpected, ours were bite-sized cod fritters with homemade mayo sauce. Went back for brunch because we wanted to be the water during the day, their lunch menu was just as great!

I arrived in Saint Paul ville at like 11:00 AM after like 2 hour walking in village i get to hungry and tired we ( me and my family) asked for a good restaurant near us they said yeah there is a place making something special black sheep!!!!! what?! OK let see what is this black sheep! after all we went there for try that steak delicious and tasty and it came with salad or soup i selected the soup! you know always french foods are different you can't ignore them you know! the negative thing is just one of the waiters knows English the servant who serving the dessert didn't know English!! and he must get help of other waiter. but the point is i was lucky cause of choosing soup you must try their soup it was wonderful! i can't forget the taste of that soup and the dessert was usual! like other french restaurant! ( just kidding) other thing is if you sit outside the restaurant you will have a nice view of a river in front of the Mouton Noir!

Cocotte en croûte d'épaule de porc

I had many great experiences getting good food in Quebec. We stopped in Baie-St. Paul, and randomly chose Mouton Noir. Wow! We were starving after a long drive, so I think that may have provoked the fifth star, but we had a great dining experience. If there is any doubt about what you want to order, get the Cocotte en croûte d'épaule de porc.

Atmosphere was nice, but the food and service did not impress, especially at the price point.

I had an excellent table d'hote menu meal here with beef tartare and a brownie with a haunting espelette pepper sauce drizzled atop it.

The food was superb, but holy smokes, the service was terrible. Two hours before we got our main dish! No explanation.

The preparation was on par and the flavors clear with focus. The osso bucco was so tender. Although not my flavor profile, I ate it all. It was prepared with bitter orange sauce with a fruit sweet which mellowed as I kept eating. I still prefer a savory version but hats off to keeping it balanced. I started with what I would call a deconstructed pot pie, but this version was with escargot. Ended with a creme brulee. To top it off at the end, the bill was reasonable. I have spent just as much for pub fare, but this was an elevated experience. It is located at the edge of the touristic zone across the street from the cathedral.

What could be below allergen non-friendly?…read more Ok so probably without my experience with this waitress and my intolerances, it would probably be a 4-5 stars as I could truly appreciate the aromas. I can truly say the decor is superb and from the people around us, people seemed to enjoy their dishes. I chose mainly this restaurant for my mother, telling myself I could always eat just a salad being vegan and gluten free by intolerances. When I asked if they had gluten free pasta the waitress told me no. Then I asked just for a green salad and she grimaced meaning no. I said ok, I guess there is not much I can eat ( most of their stuff is cooked in butter). She turned the menu around but when I explained to her, I felt her powerless. Now I understand my situation is difficult but in every restaurant I went in my life, most waitresses were like" wait I will go consult the cook and see what we can do". Nada. My mom was appalled and said, as the table next to us got a plate with rice, seafood and vegetable " well they could at least offer you rice and veggies cooked in oil". Then my mother's appetizer came in, with some greens in the middle. I said, well couldn't I get just something like that...salads and lemon juice...and she goes " I don't have salad , this is aragula". I looked at my mother and just bit my tongue. Unsure if this woman was just unressourceful, to remain polite, or if I was laughed at...cause there was this comment she made at the end of the evening, where I wondered if they took me seriously or not. Anyway I ended up not eating, letting my mother eat ( yes before some of you go " well why did you not just leave": my mother is with reduced mobility, hard to walk long ways and we were in the summer's busy touristic time...took us time to find an available restaurant) Note: when I shared my experience with a local place which had some beautiful options to offer, one of the girls asked me where I went. When I named The Batture she made a face which said it all( something like " oh ya, well"). So I guess it is great for most people, but truly ALLERGEN UNFRIENDLY. Waitresses are the extension of the image of restaurants, as a clerk is in a hotel, or in a store. I don't know if it is the chef's decision to not be accommodating or just the waitress ' inability to adapt.

Restaurant Terrasse Le Vieux Club House - Ceviche de st. Laurent! Fresh scallops!

Then came dinner, which was phenomenal. I started with the Ceviche du St-Laurent, which was made with such fresh scallops, sprinkled with finely diced pepper medley, olive oil, and balsamic vinaigrette. The dish was perfectly salted and peppered to bring out the precise fresh quality of the scallops. My husband enjoyed the spinach salad (Salde d'epinards et effiloche de canard roti au miel, vinaigrette au yogourt). He LOVED it! Dinner, for me, was the Grilled halibut steak, tagliatelle pasta with coriander oil and vegetables (Pave de fletan grille, tagliatelles a l'huile de coriander et legumes du marche). Halibut was cooked perfectly on the outside with some raw-ness in the middle, which was just right! My husband had the grilled pork chop, apple and sortilege liquor chutney, french fries, and vegetables (cote de port grillee, chutney aux pommel et sortilege, pommel de terre frites et legumes du marche). Pork was not overcooked at all! Fries were so, so, so good! High quality meal, divine atmosphere, and intimate fine dining experience!! My daughter enjoyed her chicken fingers and french fries. She does not even like french fries, but she said that it was the best french fries she ever had! She NEVER liked french fries...but today she thought it was so good! Also had the chocolate cake for dessert, and it was absolutely phenomenal! They have a Thursday night sushi happy hour special, so we plan on checking it out! You cannot beat the service, the car service from Le Manoir Richelieu, and the beautiful views of the St. Laurent River at night! Breathtakingly gorgeous!
