We rented a home for Christmas 2025 and it was filthy. When I emailed photos showing how dirty/dusty the surfaces were to the office, the response was, "it looks like it needs a deep cleaning". Rented a home for 9 this past weekend from this realty. The home was just the right size for our needs, BUT it was not at all clean! Would NOT recommend renting through this agency. Too many things to list, but when they charge a cleaning fee and then you have to clean your own place - something's not right. Black mold on the bottom of shower curtains. Toilet didn't flush well, we had to keep plunging it, hot tub was slimy and had white particles floating in it along with murky brown water, bugs and cob webs throughout. We were asked to wash our towels and put in dryer before we left. WHAT DID I PAY CLEANING FEE FOR if I had to clean myself?????? Wouldn't recommend this company! read more

Fifth time renting from them in three years and it was always good but this time they really messed up at first. We arrived at the cabin and it had obviously not been cleaned yet. Muddy dog prints on the floor, wet sheets in the dryer and dirty blankets on the beds plus the hot tub was broken. We called and they informed us that there had been a scheduling mistake and that they did not have any rentals available that met our specs (amount of bedrooms, bathrooms, hot tub, pet friendly etc.) to replace the rental that we had reserved. Zero stars should be an option here. The owner, Matt, is a dishonest, immature and angry human. Becky, his rental manager is just as bad. The house we rented had a filthy hot tub and a non-working dryer filled with wet, sour towels. Two calls to the after hours number (6pm & 8pm) - calls not returned. Zero usable towels in the house for our family of four, gross hot tub. (hot tub man did come two days later and said MT often doesn't service them between renters, which is disgusting). Becky half dried the sour, smelly towels the next afternoon at their office and threw them in a bag then hurled them at my feet, angrily saying she's got other renters with bigger problems than mine. I carried them out to my car and actually thought something must've been misinterpreted for her to be so rude to me (a paying customer who had no towels). Went back to the office hoping to hit a reset and was met with a locked door. I knocked an angry-faced lady let me in - "hey, I'm not sure what just went on but I let's hit reset here". I was met with even more rudeness and anger and when I asked for MountainTop owner's (Matt) number they wouldn't give it to me. Day four dryer man came - said It was fixed, it wasn't. After another call to the after- hours number, Matt called back. He sounded intoxicated and I suggested that maybe we should talk in the morning to which he replied he has to talk "now" because he was going gambling the next day. He then called me a "Karen" for calling "70 times" (I called 3 times) and asked if I was the one who hit Becky with my purse (wasn't me - guess she angered someone else). He then said "there's a f-ing laundromat in town, why didn't you take your towels there and do them yourself?" When I replied that we spent $2k on a house that stated it provides all linens then they need to provide them. His reply was "not for you, Karen". Ive since learned he and Becky are known in Canaan Valley to be dishonest and rude. Ask other businesses and citizens around town and you'll hear the same. Matt also owns Canaan Valley BBQ so consider yourself warned. Best of Canaan & Canaan Realty are who I will be reserving homes through from here on out. read more

This company only cares about the money and does not protect the property of the owners in their rental program. Despite having an explicit note on work orders stating that they must be approved by the owner before proceeding, Mountain Top constantly slid in charges (many times not fulfilling the work order and making zero effort to remedy). I constantly had to call to remind the team to stay on top of projects and would often be told that they were looking into things, only to never hear back and be charged. Very rarely did the team catch damage after a renter stayed and I was forced to cover the cost, which is the purpose of a deposit. They only care that the customer rents from one of their properties in the future, not if its yours. read more

Cabin was decent. However, it was not cleaned or properly maintained. We found used underwear in the folded towels. The bedsheets were not done on 2/3 beds. The bedsheets were NASTY and unwashed for all 3 beds. Hair everywhere, smelled terrible. Only provided us with 1 toilet roll per bathroom, not even hand soap. Mentioned they would provide a starter roll of laundry detergent, however, did not provide any. Called the office 2 times and it went to Matt's voicemail and ignored DURING THE STAY for maintenance issues and once a wife issue. Would rate 2 stars but with the used underwear and bad service would rate 1 star at best. No need for a refund or anything, just ridiculous though. Will not be booking again. read more

Received great customer care (more than once), from Mountaintop Realty--ending up with a wonderful cabin that was meticulously clean, charming, and well maintained. And, the perfect size for our group. Mingo Lodge is a favorite, and the Mountaintop Realty website makes it easy to search availability dates. They are very responsive! The area is beautiful, with tons of hiking trails in addition to the Ski Slopes. The towns redefine charming--the shopping and restaurant in Davis, and Thomas are a notable treat. Mountaintop Realty takes exceptional care of both the guests and the properties. Being in Canaan Valley is truly a slice of heaven! They are highly recommended!! read more

My group and I stayed this past weekend. One of the worst decisions we have ever made. After that trip I will be sure to tell everyone and their friends not to rent with them. PROTECT YOURSELVES! For what it's worth, I attempted to call them directly to discuss before this escalated, they refused to speak to me over the phone and told me to go to Airbnb, I gave them the opportunity to put this to rest before it reached this level, but now I'm sincerely hoping by some miracle this goes viral and some light is shown on these crooks. This company needs to be put out of business, disgusting standards, bad business practices and only the beginning. The audacity to treat others this way is despicable, these are people looking for an escape from every day stresses, you have to be sure everything is as good as you can make it. Host Matt knowingly allowed us to book a property with broken amenities (hot tub being a major one) then shadily forced us to sign a rental agreement in an attempt to waive liability so they wouldn't have to refund anything, then admitted during our stay they were aware it was broken (oops) and new one was coming soon, not that it matters to me as I won't be there to enjoy it. There is absolutely no way this property was sanitized/cleaned prior to our stay, there were bugs everywhere (flies particularly - see pictures), bedding was stained, walls damaged, wood for renovations around, like someone bought a fixer upper and started renting the same time as the repairs began. How on earth would anyone consider this acceptable standards, especially during a pandemic, is beyond me. As one of the most flexible easy going groups of guests this business we tolerated these issues and told ourselves this was just one we will put behind us, and let it go. However, this was the turning point - where the mask comes off. The they falsely accused us a of damaging a couch and asking $1000 for it (completely ridiculous, nobody in their right mind would pay this much for a couch) This business is making fraud insurance claims placing blame on innocent renters in an effort to increase lost revenue by dipping into insurances pockets. From my discussion with Airbnb, it seems they have attempted to make me a pawn in their insurance fraud scheme and has raised many red flags. There was a nice new Porsche 911 parked at the rental office that doubles as a home for them, I wonder how much of that money was scammed from other innocent renters. Becky sent us a youtube video to try to fix the water pump ourselves. That's really shady considering they have posted in several places all the things they could nickle and dime us for. Becky then offered to give us a different Cabin. We went to the rental office to exchange keys. Matt ended up storming off and messaged on our Air Bnb that he would give a full refund if we returned the keys. That's the first thing we did when we got to the office. about 10 mins later. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PREDATORY COMPANY My wife and I love the Blackwater Falls area and decided to take a weeklong vacation to enjoy the scenery. We rented 23 Pendletonheim Circle in Davis WV, which is managed by MountainTop Realty. Our experience with MountainTop Realty has been nothing short of terrible, and after reading reviews online, this is not unusual. We arrived on 9/8/19 around 6pm and entered using an access code emailed to us by MountainTop Realty. Any time I stay away from home, I check the mattress for evidence of bedbugs. When I pulled up the sheets, the mattress was stained and filthy, and there were dead bugs and detritus that closely resembled photos of bedbug feces and activity. We immediately left and found a room elsewhere. We called MountainTop Realty on Monday morning, and they apologized and offered a full refund. On Thursday, we still hadn't received a refund and got a voicemail from MountainTop saying their exterminator found no bedbugs. I went to the realty office to show them pictures of the mattress that I had taken. The lady from the front office called in the exterminator, and when he looked at my pictures he said, "That seems big for a bedbug. It does look like a dead insect of some sort, but it could be a bedbug. The mattress cover would keep them from coming up and feeding, though." He admitted it in front of me! I'm from rural WV, but I'm not a bumpkin. I know how these relationships between companies work. I offered to pay for one night since the listing was held, but they refused to offer even a partial refund. No one should have to sleep on such a filthy mattress. I did not curse, yell, or raise my voice. I made a reasonable request in a reasonable manner, but they have refused to deal with me. They are unethical and poor property managers. Unless you think sleeping on an insect-littered mattress and being treated rudely is a good vacation, find another company to rent from. read more

***Edit*** Initially I gave these guys two stars, because despite the issues listed below, parking was abundant, and I thought it was cool that the amenities included a Roku with Netflix, and they provided firewood, among a few other things. I've since downgraded them to one star because of the treatment that they demonstrated to my friend who hosted the trip. Among the other issues (see below) they acted rude and unprofessional when my friend contacted their customer service to resolve the issues with the apartment, hanging up on her multiple times and not returning calls. While there were positives of the place, the treatment they apparently exhibited diminishes all of that. My friends and I stayed at a condo at Talheim Village for the weekend to ski at Timberline. My friend organized the trip and made the reservation. On the plus side it was spacious for six people, it was close to the slopes, and they even let us check in early because we had perishable food. Now onto the downsides, of which there were plenty. Talheim had recently "experienced a major fire,". Calling into question the safety of their wood burning fireplaces. Our first fireplace didn't work, the heat seemed to be non-existent at points, and the running water and dishwasher didn't work. To cap it off management had apparently tried to reach my friend who rented the property, but sent someone to fix the problems before she could be reached, as The area is a dead zone for many cell phone users. When she walked in she was scared to see a stranger in the room with all of our valuables, who went on to explain that he was fixing the amenities. It's not his fault though, but these things should have been fixed in advance and the repair times properly communicated when she picked up the keys. To be fair, the people she spoke to were very understanding and tried to accommodate her. Because of the lack of available amenities, we were allowed to move to Beaver Ridge a few miles east. In many ways it was much better, although we were informed that the setup was the same when it wasn't. To comfortably house six we had to use the pullout couch, whereas there were enough beds in the previous unit. The hot water took very long to recover and didn't last long. Still, this one had a working fireplace and Netflix standard! It's cost effective, but I would like to see some more efficiency in communication and amenities. read more

I rented from Mountaintop Reality. The rental process was simple and easy. I sent a number of emails asking questions, but they were never answered. I called them the day I was supposed to be arriving to the rental, because I was arriving late. The lady was very nice on the phone. However, I asked if the rental would be cleaned before I arrived. They said it would be. Unfortunately, it was not. My family and I had to clean the house when we arrived. There was hair all over the bathrooms and floors. There was shower soap left from the last renters, which was apparently a wedding party (because there balloons were left). None of the blankets had been stripped and washed. There was hair and dirt all through the sheets and pillows. I paid the rental company a cleaning fee of $100 as part of the contract, so I don't know where that money went. This company is clearly unethical and frankly they should be shut down for not cleaning the house. read more

We rented a cabin (Altitude Adjustment) from Mountaintop Realty & Rentals for a weekend ski trip to Timberline Four Seasons Resort. We were excited for our stay and skiing, but we had three major problems during our stay. The first was the hot tub. We arrived to an extremely unpleasant smell in the property. We discovered the smell came from the hot tub once we saw mold, fungus, and who knows what sitting in the hot tub. Words cannot describe the condition of the hot tub. Maintenance was called and responded timely. Their reaction to the hot tub was the same as ours, disgusted. They often gagged while cleaning the hot tub. They discovered the cause was throw up and other "nasty things". They also found a shard of broken glass 2 inches long. This took maintenance about 7 hours to clean and was still not fully cleaned. The hot tub was not ready for half of our stay. The smell, although better, remained for our entire stay, and I still do not believe the hot tub is suitable and clean enough for use. The second issue was the bedding. We discovered bloody sheets on one of the downstairs' bedrooms. This is unacceptable and very dangerous to health and safety. We do not know who stayed in the property before us and their health condition. This could very possible have transferred diseases to anyone in contact with the bed sheets. I am glad that my friend noticed this before sleeping in the bed. The third issue was the pull out sofa in the living room. The sofa was broken and not cleaned. There were springs/coils visible and dirt on the sheets. Another of my friends was forced to sleep on the floor because of this. We had booked a property with enough beds for our group, but were displeased when this bed was not functional. We were told to email our issues to the property manager. No response was received. After a few days I followed up. She then replied with an insincere "I'm sorry" and that she would forward the issues to housekeeping and the homeowner. She then proceeded to blame me for the dirty hot tub, "The hot tub would have been cleaned before your arrival but you checked in early." Yes, we checked in before our scheduled 3pm check-in, however we called prior to ask if it was ok for an early check in. They said it was ok and we checked in at noon. To tell me that the hot tub would have been ready by 3pm when it took the maintenance crew about 7 hours to clean is an absolute joke! Since their availability calendar for this property showed vacancy for this property for 4 full days prior, there should be no reason for an unclean property. It is apparent that this property was not properly cleaned or even checked before our arrival. I will not be staying at any of Mountain Top Realty & Rental's properties again. There are severe health and safety concerns. Others we ran into at the slopes mentioned that they had problems with their rental as well, no soap and other toiletries. read more

We requested a dog friendly home and halfway through our stay was threatened by the owner and kicked out of our rental home. The owner stated that the home was not pet friendly and accused us of trying to hide our dog from them. Looking at the guest book the house was clearly a pet friendly home in the past and the booking agent made a mistake. The owner was rude to me, my wife , and my guests in his threatening remarks and use of profane language. Terrible experience. We have been renting in Old Timberline for 20 years. We have never had a problem. My husband and I took our family there for Thanksgiving this year. Dogs and tiny kids..1,2,3 and 5, which required pack and plays, etc. The second day, the septic overflowed. After calls back and forth, they gave us another house, OUT of old Timberline, in a development, and we were told to take it or leave it. We lost an entire day, and basically asked if we could be credited a day either on this trip or a future one. Matt, the owner told my daughter that we could just drive the 9 hours home if we didn't like it. We did not get to see our friends in Elkins because our trip was cut short by having to pack and unpack. Becky was rude...Matt was disgusting. When we got home, we realized in all of the commotion, that 3 jackets had been left in the closet of the 2nd house. Our calls were never returned. We had told our story to some shop owners in Thomas, who told us never to use Mt Top....but to use The Best of Canaan. We will do this with our future visits. Shame on you MountainTop. As Kimberly E said, I really wish I could give Mountaintop Realty& Rentals 0 stars. We stayed four nights over new years and had an unbelievable number of issues. The culture at Mountaintop Realty seems to be deliver crappy/nearly not inhabitable rentals, and if anyone complains, the owner Matt will be defensive then hang up. Dakota at Mountiantop is awesome, and really helpful but owner Matt will not let her do even reasonable things to help customers. -We returned to the unit to a man in a muddy hoodie standing in the unit (8pm), I thought I was being attacked -Muddy hoodie man turned out to be a plumber who stated that the sink/washing machine did not work -The fire alarm was pulled out of the wall, dust everywhere, bathroom dirty, ect. -We were then moved to a new unit and woke up to no heat -The new unit only had 3 beds so we had people sleeping on the floor (yes, they knew how many people we had) -Oh! And when we checked out Jeanie at the front desk told me I should have washed the dishes before leaving and that the housekeeper complained. Tell me Jeanie, how do you want me to wash dishes with no sink or dish washer? I put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher apparently I should have just hand washed everything on my vacation. -When I tried to talk to Matt about the issues he said there was an emergency and he had to hang up- did not call back. Apparently the emergency was that he needed to talk on the phone to his brother. If you value your vacation days like I do, just stay somewhere else. No one wants to deal with these kinds of mess over a holiday ski weekend. read more

I rented a place through Mountain Top and, due to confusion with their email, did not fax the signed Terms and Conditions prior to arriving. Side note: I did check the "I Agree" button to the same document during the online reservation. When I arrived at the office after the 5:00 PM closing, my keys were not in the drop box. Over the next several hours, I called the "emergency" phone numbers posted on the office door but got no response. I finally received a call a little after midnight from Matt who claimed he was out of cell range all night. He said that I could come to his house and get the keys but by that time, I had already found another place to stay. The next morning, they insisted that I would have to pay for the night missed or they would not release the keys to me. I walked out. AVOID THIS PLACE!!! read more

My parents live in this beautiful area. I rented 2 houses for a large family get together. Both were to be 4 bedrooms. 1 house was just as agreed upon, sadly the 2nd house did not go so well. One of the bedrooms was locked. This created a last minute scrambling and inconvenience of accommodations for family members. Our rental was Friday 10/16/15 to 10/18/15. (We called Becky Sat AM 10/17/15 to explain the problem) By 6 pm 10/17/15, no one bothered to stop by to unlock the room. My daughter was at the house all day with her child to confirm this. The house was very dusty, large cobwebs in the doorways, from the beams to the light fixture in the kitchen & the ceiling fan had clumps of dust, indicating it has not been dusted in months. (Having ceiling fans myself, I aware of how they accumulate dust & dirt & how often they need dusting, about every 1-2 mths). The house had a strong mold/mildew odor that required windows to be left open to air it out, which sadly did not help get rid of the odor. And with my brother's mold/mildew allergies, it's not likely he could have stayed, even if the bedroom was unlocked. To top it off, the deer heads had disgusting Halloween masks on them. I might have overlooked them except that was the "icing on the cake". I took photos i case there were any questions about the conditions mentioned. I am well aware my mother called, distressed about the house. Had something been done to rectify the situation, I would have been more than happy to give a better rating but considering I haven't even had an "I'm sorry" text, forget it. Ours was listed to have a hot tube and internet, both of which were not included.. well i mean there was a hot tub on the porch but it was empty and broken. The internet was just non-existent for the 4 days we were there. When mentioned to the people on the phone she at first acted surprised as to why the hot tub would be empty and then later informed us that they were aware that it was broke and were just waiting on replacement parts but that did not justify any price reduction on rental prices. Of course why would you not mention that fact prior to us renting the cabin? In fact they acted like they couldn't care less. I was here for the July 4th weekend with a bunch of friends and I loved the arrangement. The hot tub was functional n water looked clean. There were lots of towels, extra sheets , napkins, kitchenware , dinner plates n cutlery provided. We weren't short of anything. There isn't any game room though. The bed in the attic can technically accommodate two people but it's not really comfortable. Also, the air conditioner makes so much noise in the attic that you cannot sleep in peace. There weren't any comforters which is okay for summer but I would imagine winters would get tough. read more

Dreadful experience with this company! Our family booked a weekend trip with Mountaintop Realty through Booking.com. The online pics of the cabin we chose looked very nice and we were excited for the weekend. But upon our arrival, we were provided keys to a different cabin that had less space and a less desirable floor plan without notice, warning, or explanation. Three (3) calls placed to Matt were totally ignored, even though Matt's voicemail assured a return call will be made "immediately." Email inquiries were disregarded and no response was received. I finally physically went to their office for an explanation as to why we were switched to an inferior cabin. The receptionist said the cabin we chose was "under maintenance." Oddly enough, we could see the original cabin the entire weekend and no work was being done. Contrary to language contained in their own rental agreement, NO EFFORTS were made to tell us why we were moved to a smaller, less compatible cabin before our arrival. After wasting nearly a full day of our weekend trip seeking an explanation for the switch, Matt says they are refusing to move us to a comparable property or provide us with any relief. Instead, he smugly says, "Have a nice day! Drive safely!" If bait and switch business practices enforced by bullying without any regard for the care of their customers is something you want to experience, by all means, call Mountaintop Realty! But if you value your time and wish to be treated civilly, then go somewhere else. Time is too precious to waste fighting with this company. read more

The past years dealing with Mountain Top has always been a positive experience. This year 2018 not so much, the home we rented, was mice infested, to the point, the second day my niece awoke with Mice crap on her pillow, leaving us to believe they were crawling around her in her sleep. Our relatives rented a home ( not pet friendly) that was flee infested. We brought the pillow ( Mice crap) to the reality office explained the situation and asked for a manager to call our mom at their convenience. Over a week later, guess they couldn't or wouldn't find the time so I called them, once again explained and asked why these placed were still on the renters list, also why hasn't my mother been given a call to address any and all issues. The owner Matt told me I was being recored, I said ok but its not like I have threatened you, I just would like to know why these homes are still being rented when clearly their problems aren't being addressed and " ok Matt here is your threat, I am going to write a review and send it to as many local papers as I can because not only would I not want someone to sleep in Mice shit I wouldn't want you to rent to anyone else and give this area a bad reputation shame on you sir. I hung up definitely do not recommend this place I do however recommend the area. After several years renting mountain homes in the Canaan Valley from Mountaintop Realty, we have just had a very bad experience. The house, "Paradise Point" was unkempt, rugs were soiled, the furniture was beat-up, the walls and cabinets sticky, the lamps didn't have bulbs, there was black mold on the walls, appliances were old and partially broken, the kitchen not well-supplied, mice were a problem, the entire unit needed paint, etc. etc. Our complaints to management were not well received. Basically we were told that we "should have rented a better unit" and that they were not responsible for the condition of their rentals. They did give a token refund, but their attitude towards the problems was almost dismissive. I would not deal with them again. Although the house was beautiful, it smelled and the hot tub was broken. When call the rental company all we got told read the contract. In fairest they did send a repairman twice, but it didn't get fixed. I nor my husband know much about hot tubs, but we both got the feeling that they knew about the problem there was a lot of wires unhooked and the breaker was thrown. Another problem was that we had to pay $132.50 cleaning fee, even though we only stayed two nights, but we still had to take the trash to the dumpster at the office or be charged another $25.00. We were also expected to wash sheets and towels (which I did hoping they would give us some of our money back). The basement smelled of mild dew and mold, they had a humidifier on but my it still gave me a since infection. The house could use some updating. The only reason I gave this two stars was view is beautiful and the house is decorated with the memorable of the owner who was a veteran and that was interesting to see the pictures and things. read more

If it was possible to give Mountain Top Realty zero stars, I would do so based on their dishonorable business practices and horrible customer service. I called to inquire about a property and spoke with Dakota who quoted me a price for renting a property for three days, based on a fourth-night free promo they were running. When I tried to book the rental the next day, Dakota said she realized she gave me an incorrect quote. I said alright, but you will honor the price you quoted me, correct? She said she needed to speak with her co-worker Becky, who told Dakota to ask their manager/the owner Matthew, and said she would call me back. I never received a return call. When I called Dakota the next day she said Matthew probably wouldn't approve it -- so basically she didn't even bother to ask him like she said she would! Another example of bad business. I cannot believe Mountain Top wouldn't honor the original price they quoted me; an overcharge of $49, which is nothing for a company like them to eat up as a gesture of goodwill to a customer. Frustrated, I reached out to one of their local competitors, Timberline Four Seasons Realty, and explained my situation to them. Their friendly rep Pam helped me secure a rental property AND gave me a discount for the trouble I experienced with Mountain Top because she felt bad for what I had gone through. Now that's stellar customer service to step-up based on a competitor's error. Mountain Top you need to learn customer service skills and proper business practices from them! read more

Mountaintop Realty claimed that we left a door wide open, which we did not. Charged us almost $400 for the damages even though there is a $50 waiver that is supposed to cover up to $1000 worth of damage. Left the house on a Sunday, no one came until Wednesday, the whole problem could've been avoided if someone just checked the house after we left. read more

We wanted the top cabin available, and even rented it and we got down graded to some shed that was not even close to what we rented. The pictures we saw showed a clean, well-maintained cabin with a jacuzzi, spiral staircase, and other features that seemed very appealing. Supposedly, our cabin was under maintenance so we got down-graded. We saw that no workers or equipment like ladders was at the cabin, which is strange because I thought you might need a ladder to change windows. The place we got had none of what was stated before, but we got spider webs, broken doors, and the hardest bed you can think of. Thinking that we had no notice, we thought we were going to have a discount or move cabins. Make sense, right? Well, the company did not think so and said basically that it was our problem and did not help us at all. The changing cabins, lackluster cabin, and also the amount of help from the staff gave this place a one-star review. I would just say get a cabin from the resort itself. read more

We rented with Mountaintop from 5/4-5/8/17. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with them! The staff was very helpful and kept in touch through out the whole process. It was super easy to book with them and get answers to any questions we had. I was glad they offer pet friendly homes with out weight restrictions! I would definitely book with them again! The only complaint we had was that the coffee pot wasn't checked for grinds during cleaning. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I am a real estate professional & this company is the worst. They do not know what customer service is nor do they care. The first time I rented through them the hot tub & dishwasher were not working in the house. Despite repeated calls asking for someone to come and look at them - no one came. We were not refunded any money - 'too bad, so sad' was the attitude. We have just rented again over NYE 2017. The entire bottom floor that contained a bedroom, full bath & 2nd living room reeked of sewer smell. It was uninhabitable & unhealthy to spend anytime down there. Even when the door to the basement opened - the stink filled the main level. We paid for a 4 bd/4 bath; 3 level house. What we got was a 3bd/3bath; 2 level house with a lower level that smelled like nothing I can even describe. We had to go buy blow up mattresses & put kids on the floor & double up on bathrooms. When we told Timberline about it & asked for 1/3 of our money back (1/3 of the house was uninhabitable) they took over two weeks to talk to the owner & then told us they would only reimburse us 10%. What a racket - what a horribly managed company with incompetent, rude people working there. Stay far away from Timberline Realty - use the other companies or VRBO. FYI - the house that reeks of sewer is Timberly - dont rent it!!!! read more

MountainTop Realty is a nightmare! We have rented homes from them in the last few years, and not at a cheap rate, and it has progressively gotten worse as Matt Haverty (his mother Rita Haverty being the broker) has been in charge of handling the clients and the situations. We rented a house from them at the end of January of 2018, advertised as having a hot tub on the deck with beautiful views. When we arrived the hot tub had four inches of frozen water in it. We called the after hours number, left a message, got a call back thirty minutes later and we were told it had been checked earlier that day. Obviously it had not. We contacted the actual owners of the property, who pay alot of money to hire MountainTop Realty to maintain their property, and he advised us that the hot tub had not been working a month prior when he visited his home and MountainTop Realty was to maintenance the hot tub, which in fact they never did. The owner told us to tell the realty company to reimburse us for a night at approx. $319 or he would deal with them. We were reimbursed by the company with no remorse to the situation. We decided that all humans are capable of mistakes and gave MountainTop Realty another chance to have our business. When we arrived at the home we rented, Above It All, the main feature was the hot tub on the 4th floor in the skyroom. The water was cold when we arrived and the hot tub was not on. We turned the hot tub on to heat it up, and then realized there was water coming thru the ceiling light in the bathroom beneath. We called several numbers to report the Iemergency, with concern because we have young children. No one would return our calls. Eventually I was able to find Rita Havertys number, being that she was the broker, she should have the most control in helping in the situation. She stated that she would see what she could do. A few minutes later, her son Matt Haverty called, at this time it was about 11:30 pm. I explained the situation and he kept trying to overtalk me and convince me that it was our fault. Again I explained the situation to him and the more he realized I wasn't just *some dumb woman* the more aggravated he became. He wouldn't let me speak, then he started raising his voice interrupting me and saying I was interrupting him. I started to speak again, then him, and he said "SUCKS to be interrupted doesn't it". VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! I informed him that I worked in an office and he said "do you interrupt your clients?". In this situation I was his client and I informed him that we let the client speak and we listen. At that point he became irrate and I ended the call. Unprofessional, unethical and ruined two family vacations already this year. They are nice on the phone, but when it comes down to a real situation, they are extremely undependable. read more

This was our second time renting from Mountaintop Realty and we have had a great experience both times! After looking at different rental places this time we stuck with Mountaintop the quality of homes and the prices were all around better. The pictures of the house and the description on the site were accurate and beautiful! They were even willing to work with us to reschedule if we needed to because of a hurricane that was threatening to hit close to home (thankfully the hurricane missed our home). The only thing that got me this time was a tip envelope on the refrigerator door for the cleaning ladies. I wasn't to happy about this because we already paid a couple of hundred dollars in rent and in that rent was a $96 cleaning fee so asking for tip money I found to be a little to much and unfair to ask that of people. We will book with them again and again and would recommend them to anyone and everyone! read more
