If you are looking for a cozy, friendly campground with great amenities and super-easy access to the Smoky Mountains, you are looking for the Mountaineer Campground. Owners Don and Carolyn welcomed us and made us feel right at home. Don is quite the photographer, and displays his work in a small gallery on site. It is worth your while to spend a few minutes letting them show it off. Every spot is shaded, and there is a good balance between cabin, RV, and tent sites. The place is kept very clean and neat. We didn't try the pool, but there were families here having a great time. Every time I went into the restroom, it looked like it had just been cleaned. Very easy access to the Little River, running right along the back of the campground. The national park is moments away. We spent our afternoons/evenings watching the wildlife in Cades Cove! The burger/ice cream place next door is just awesome, too. We will definitely return to the Mountaineer! Next time, we will probably try out a tiny cabin. Check it out for yourself!

Quaint and affordable. The only negative is they really pack em in. They are nicely located and its very quiet. Very clean and friendly.

I will just list out the pros and cons. Our spot was premium tent site 102. Pros: bathrooms are nice and clean Has a swimming pool and tube rental for the river Farm with animals Right on the river Hay rides and rides to drop you off to tube down as many times as you want. Staff was friendly. Convenient to mountains and Cades Cove Cons: they listed our area as a premium tent site with electric water and sewer. We were sandwiched in between several rvs and did not have a view of anything but rvs. The campsites are very close together and narrow. Feels crowded in your own space The place to put the tent was jagged gravel rocks no grass. There was a metal tent stake left in the ground that ended up poking a hole in our air mattress. Bc we were on rocks this pushed us to go home and sleep for the night as we are local. The pool is nice but the pool area is in the middle of a field and has absolutely no shade or bathroom close by. The four chairs they had were run down and one broken. This is not ideal for having kids that may need to use the potty or need some shade for a min. No grills only fire pits If I could suggest anything to the owners it would be the following Add pictures of each campsite so that when someone is going to book they know exactly what their site looks like and know what to expect. This would help to book a better spot for your needs. Add a porta potty or bathroom closer to the pool. Also add some shade and chairs. Double check the sites before check in. Had that stake been pulled up before we arrived it wouldn't have damaged our air mattress resulting in us having to leave for the night and come back. Add charcoal grills for cooking.

When I brought this to their attention, I was assured that my card information would be removed from the incorrect account and that the issue had been resolved. Despite those assurances, my debit card was charged again. This second charge occurred after I had already notified the staff of the mistake and after I was specifically told that my card information would be deleted. As a result, I spent a significant portion of my vacation dealing with a problem that should never have happened in the first place. Not only did these errors create financial stress and inconvenience, but they also ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. I trusted your staff to correct the mistake after it was first reported, and unfortunately that trust was misplaced when my card was charged again. I believe it is unreasonable for me to bear the consequences of repeated errors made by the office, particularly after I had notified you of the problem and received assurances that it had been corrected. For these reasons, I respectfully requested a refund and I was denied and told that it was my banks fault for letting the transactions to occur. They won't take accountability and refuse to work with me. This was my debit card that was charged and over $400 and was on hold for a total of 8 days. My bank cancelled my card. Just one headache after another because of all of this. I feel as though they should've accommodated me seeing how their actions and failure to pay attention caused all of this.

I liked the campground and listed some of the pros and cons I experienced none were deal breakers I'd camp here again but probably request the site I want before booking. It seems the reviews are a mix of reviews prior to KOA ownership so like everything else things evolve over time, we had a pleasant experience although I'm not sure when the transition from private to corporate completed. Pros: 1. A very attentive staff that patrols the property and ready to help 2. A wonderful camp store stocked with just about everything you need including gasoline and propane and a penny smashing machine. 3. Great Cable TV 4. Great WiFi 5. Close proximity to the crystal clear Little River with easy access for tubing or kayaking. 6. Close proximity to all the amenities of Townsend and the Great Smokey Mountain National Park 7. Nice pool and playground for kids and far enough away from the sites 8. Camp Staff will deliver firewood and ice (maybe more stuff if you ask) to your campsite and apply it to your account. 9. Very little light pollution once the sun sets 10. It was relatively quite after dark. 11. Great water pressure 12. Doesn't seem to be longterm residential sites Cons: 1. The campsites are very close together not much privacy here. 2. The neighbor's sewer connections are in very close proximity to your patio area instead of been on the back side of the sites where the electrical and fresh water connections are located. 3. It's likely your satellite dish won't work 4. All gravel camp sites (most have concrete patios though)

Over the course of the next day, we noticed the wet spot would come and go and began to smell like sewage. The evening of the 8th, the spot became very bad and I notified staff. We then began to notice that our hookup from our camper to the campsite septic did not drain (and would overflow) and started to determine that there was a broken line and backup in the campground's system. The staff explained to us that it was because of many campers draining their tanks and that it was "normal" and would go away. Lazy Daze had their tank pumped on the 8th and the issue continued on the 9th at our site. We decided to leave as the site was unsafe - sewage was draining into our site - into our outside personal property - some of which we disposed of. I contacted the campground on the 12th to find a resolution. First, the campground said they would not provide a refund for the day that we did not stay. This is frustrating, as we left due to health concerns of the property. Secondly, they made a NEW reason as to why the issue occurred in the first place - rain early in the week, which did not happened - and can be proven looking at weather reports. In the end (10/16), I was able to obtain a refund for the site for one day (even though we had sewage issues our entire stay). Please keep in mind, they did not have any other sites open and nowhere else for us to relocate to - we were forced to stay in site 41. Lazy Dazes did not hold any responsibility for our damaged property. The sewage made it's way directly into the river, which is where many kids (including ours) were playing. Kids were riding bikes through the puddles of sewage, which did not have any signage of danger. On top of standard health concerns for humans, animals, and the environment, we have COVID which *SHOULD* add heightened concerned to any responsible business. In this case, I saw none.

The site they place us in was right beside the bath house. The sewer was backed up into our site. They tried to fix it multiple times it was still not draining. We received multiple excuses. Staff was nice but really did not fix the problems. We love camping but felt like we really could not set up our things do to the sewer problem.
