I came here with my daughter to a mommy and me class sponsored by Nature's bakery. It was amazing! The teacher did an amazing job keeping the young kids entertained and still incorporating yoga. The staff were super friendly upon entering as well. The facility is kept clean and is nice as well! I will definitely be going back for more yoga classes! The winter weather has been making me crave some hot yoga and deep stretches, and I loved getting to check out Mountain Yoga recently. I took their 60-minute HOT Stretch class - space element with Julie and it was soooooo good. I always feel like I get such a good stretch when in a warmed room and this class did not disappoint. It wasn't a super demanding class, most of the poses were seated and laying down although we did do some standing poses towards the end of class. I brought my own towel and a towel for my mat as well. I don't know if they provide towels, but if they do they weren't visibly displayed. Excited to come back here! read more

I paid $30 for a drop in to check it out, I couldn't find it and there was a massive accident on the freeway. I was ten minutes late which I get but their class wasn't even full. I probably won't be coming back because you could go to another yoga class where they are more understanding that things happen. read more

I've been practicing yoga at MYS for a little over a year now and I really, really love it! I was looking for something that was just for me, that I might be good at, and that would get me reaching my fitness goals! MYS feels like such a safe space to me these days, everyone is so friendly and encouraging and respectful of peoples practice! I joined Mountain Yoga and the studio quickly became my happy place! Of course I join a class pretty much every other day. Because of their wide selection of class types and times throughout the day, there is always something to suit my mood or body's needs! For ex. my wrist was sore the other day so I did a hatha class rather than flow. it was perfect. Or when my friend was visiting who doesn't like hot yoga classes, we did a class in the room with no heat. The staff are friendly and experienced and the studio is always clean. Mountain Yoga is my yogi home and I stepped in for a class last night, my 2nd in the 8 months since Covid hit...and boy was I glad. They've done a great job with spacing so I can feel as comfortable as can be, during a stupid pandemic. Sharing space with others as we sink into poses and focus on our breath is powerful. Yoga is magic, it is restorative and reflective and the instructors at this studio are all fabulous. Every day I decide what risks to take, and going to a yoga class is worth it. Last night was a flow class, I was able to close my eyes and Sarah's cues kept me on track so I could immerse myself fully. The hot room is similarly spaced and I am planning my next visit, where I can let the heat help me stretch and deepen- the benefit of the movement and the shared experience is worth it. read more

I had never done hot yoga before. And honestly, I was intimidated. In general, I'm not a huge yoga person - when I'm exercising, I need a lot of cardio to feel like I'm doing something. That being said, I figured a hot yoga session would fit well with my need for cardio, and my love of the heat. I was not wrong. Mountain Yoga has a cute store front, with a wide selection of exercise attire, drinks and drink powder, mats, and clearance items. They have a two rooms, Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood. The big one is obviously the room for hot yoga, because as you walk past it, you get an amazing wave of warmth. First off, shoes stay outside the rooms, in the main store front, under the benches. They have a filtered water system, showers, and a changing room. This place just has a really good feel to it. They center their yoga classes around different elements: fire, water, earth, flow, wind, and roots. Depending on the type of class, they are either heated or not, and the temperature can be higher than other classes (meaning some are 90 degrees, some are up to 105). My favorite to date are the restore classes (water) but hot. In addition, they also have Barre classes (I have tried!), and Qigong classes. I've really come to enjoy hot yoga, and honestly, I feel like I've been spoiled with it now, and I think it's the only way I'll do yoga in the future. Lacking heat would seem weird to me. I in no way consider myself a "yogi", but I have found that hot yoga at Mountain Yoga has helped me appreciate the yoga practice far more than I ever had before. This is a great studio! I've been here a couple times over the past year, and it's a well run place. The place is clean, and there's a nice little hangout area in the front. I would point out that they have wooden floors in the studio. This can viewed as a no no when it comes to slipperiness, but they have addressed this issue by simply staying on our mats for several poses (separate leg stretch, triangle, etc). I had a terrific instructor! Merrill. She kept to the dialog, remembered all 20 of our names (!), while talking inspirationally about how important the yoga is to improving our life. The thing about Bikram is that it's not for everyone. Yes it can be a great workout, but getting deeper into the meditative aspects of the practice is so difficult. It can take years. If you are thinking of starting Bikram or already practice, I think Bikram yoga sandy is one of the best studios to practice in! It's awesome after a day of skiing, as it gets the soreness out of the body! read more

I had gotten a small taste of the MANY benefits yoga in general has to offer through a work sponsored program (pre-pandemic). I was interested in pursuing a yoga practice further and outside of the work environment but was involved heavily with other activities and didn't feel like I had the time. My other activities led to a rather brutal ankle injury with a VERY lengthy recovery time, both for my body and my mind. A massage therapist had recommended Mountain Yoga to me and I made sure to "make note" of the recommendation but didn't act on it right away.  Some time later at an all time personal low, with life in general just giving me the business ... I found myself in dire need of an outlet. It was then that I found my courage to try something new and signed up for a trial membership at Mountain Yoga Sandy. I dove in head first for that trial, making sure to try out all of the various class offerings with as many different instructors as I possibly could. I knew after my first class I had found the place for me and that feeling was amplified with each class I took thereafter. (The infrared sauna is also truly incredible... just sayin.)  I've been a regular fixture at the studio for 3 months now and simply cannot fathom the circumstances that would lead that to change. Mountain Yoga is my sanctuary and has given me just sooo much in this short time. I truly lost count but have had the privilege to take classes (and-or workshops) from over a dozen incredible instructors (and counting). ALL of whom are warm, welcoming, genuinely caring individuals who guide your practice to be what YOU need it to be. Yoga at Mountain, thanks to these instructors, will meet you where you're at and there aren't quite words to say how grateful/ thankful I am for it.  Having never done yoga in the heat, I was somewhat nervous about that aspect going in but like many others have said, I kinda can't imagine doing yoga without it now. (That said, their non-heated classes are just as excellent if the heat really isn't for you ;) ) There had been moments in my life before Mountain Yoga where I had felt comfortable-ish with my body OR with my mind, but never BOTH at the same time and never for an extended period of time. One of the greatest gifts Mountain Yoga has given me is just that - the space on my mat to be present and to find true peace, acceptance, and love for both my body and my mind at once and as they are, in a way that feels sustainable for the long-term. In this world of chaos, I am so grateful for my place on my mat at this studio with these incredible instructors.  I'm definitely an introvert by nature and quite shy so the notion of doing something new with so many other strangers also made me nervous. I've found it truly incredible how this is simply just a non-issue, even for someone like me. EVERYONE at the studio, the staff, the instructors, and all the yogi's have been so warm, kind, and supportive. In a FULL class, you sort of forget all of the individuals around you are even there while still feeling the collective, supportive energy of the room.  5 little stars doesn't quite do Mountain Yoga justice in this gal's opinion. read more

I love this yoga studio! A wide variety of classes including Flow, Pilates, Barre, Qigong, and restorative. They offer great workshops too. Inclusive to all levels, from beginning to more advanced with supportive teachers and staff. I've learned so much from the classes I've attended. The people I've met at the studio are part of my yoga posse...amazing people who care about their community and taking what they learn in class off their mats. I'm a total yoga newbie. And by newbie, it means I never even "stuck a pose" before attending my first (and second) class this past weekend. It was amazing! The class sizes are perfect and the instructor Jamie (both classes) was knowledgeable and kind. I have arthritis in my hands and feet so I needed an exercise program that would not harm my joints. I just moved to Cottonwood Heights from Downtown Salt Lake and was nervous about founding a good studio near my new house. Mountain Yoga has been amazing! There is a wonderful balance between spirituality and fitness integrated into each class. I have always had trouble finding a studio that also incorporated the roots of yoga into practice. This is why I was hesitant about trying MYS because many of their classes are hot. (I have found many hot yoga studios lack in the spiritual department) However, MYS has exceeded my expectations and I keep going back for more! I have only been attending classes for a few weeks now, but Danielle and Joi have been AMAZING in helping me through my yoga journey already. I've been to many studios and classes over the past 9 years, so I am picky about teachers, class types, schedules, and studio design/vibe. I am so happy I found MYS because it really fits all of my needs. I haven't found a studio that does so many types of classes so well and has such a robust schedule that fits around my work and life schedule. This is my first time trying Bikram yoga but I'm hooked! I love the feel of this studio and the staff is super friendly with THE BEST customer service I've seen in a long time. I even received a follow-up call a couple days after my first class to see what I thought and if I had any questions. The women's changing area/bathroom is a bit small, but I prefer to grab my stuff and head home to shower, so it's not too big a deal. I love the cold filtered water they offer (always on tap) and the instructors know what they're doing. Plus they're more than happy to talk with you before or after to answer any questions. The only complaint I have (other than the small bathrooms/changing area) is how packed those classes get. I'm sure an expiring coupon was the reason for Thursday night's wall to wall of people, but it's kind of unnerving when a foot is in your face as you're bending over for a pose. I really wish they'd cap the class. I swear we were packed in there with only a few inches between mats (if even that!). Going for my third class tomorrow, though, so I obviously enjoy the studio! Great introductory rate too at $39 for a month of unlimited classes! read more

This is a solid studio. The heat is super reliable and very hot, it is excellent for experienced practitioners and those that really want learn! The locker room is a bit small but whatever, just be ready to wait inline for a shower. They would be better off installing a big group shower, not everyone likes them but they are more efficient. There are not enough bathrooms for the studio as well, that was one of my biggest complaints since I always have to pee when I get there! The intro rate is the best deal in town at 29 bucks for 30 days, truly a bargain. The owners are super nice and excellent instructors. Overall it's a great studio and if you want to learn Bikram and live near this one, check it out! read more

This lobby offers a relaxing atmosphere and the studio is in really good condition. They have several classes offered every day of the week and many instructors, but each class is the same, so once you go a few times you can learn all the poses and really work on perfecting them vs. trying to learn new poses with each different instructor and constantly being confused. The instructors and the owners of the studio, Jackie and Alex, are friendly and helpful and they learn your name pretty quickly. The (women's) changing room is a little small, but very clean and they have showers. The studio is large but classes can get pretty crowded so I recommend showing up 15-20 minutes early to stake out a good spot. Oh, and it's very HOT. If you've never done bikram yoga before, you should know that it's sort of miserable while you are doing it, but afterwards you get the most amazing high - it feels SO good. For that reason, it's totally addictive. Check out the beginners special. You get unlimited classes for 30 days for $29. I have been a Mountain Yoga friend for many years. I have been to many other studios in the valley and we are lucky to have so many choices but I feel most at home at MYS. The vibe is laid back and cozy like a neighborhood bar minus the cocktails. It has a Cheers/Norm vibe when you walk in. I go all times of days, days of the week, and days I don't feel my practice going in to class I feel reborn coming out of class.I love to bring friends to classes so they can get a taste of what I am enjoying on a daily basis. There is no better place to practice yoga than here at Mountain Yoga Sandy - in just a month, I felt so alive and better. Since going to MYS I already notice improvement of my chronic pain, and my broken ankle is getting rehab from classes here, and my mental health has improved - I highly recommend trying the unlimited month trial - it is such a great value - way more bang for your buck than other therapies! I have been going to this studio for about 5 months now. I originally went with a friend hesitantly because I don't do yoga, I don't like being hot, and I'm not flexible. Well, I am addicted.
