Super super friendly family we actually are going to attempt to make reservations for this weekend…read morefor last-minute getaway as a family as a disabled person with type one diabetes. I had a really difficult day that day. We had bad storms and we don't live far from the campground, a couple hours south, but between the storm that not down a tree in our yard, I helped clean up and struggling with my diabetes, and then as I was driving North, a bad lightning storm I wasn't getting any service. I didn't know what to do or where to go. I ended up not spending the night after all, but I can say that communications were wonderful and the facility is beautiful. I did my research before I made a reservation for myself and I was going alone and I haven't been anywhere by myself in 10 years especially since I've become disabled so I ended up having to make other accommodations for the night and didn't get the pleasure of this visit but hopefully there's gonna be something open this weekend and I couldn't have Astro better communication. I can't. I did try to communicate late at night in late into the evening, but they do close their office at five and because of struggles with my diabetes which they have to be dealt with. I can't help that and then the storms here I got a very late start and once I was on my way, and I ran into this lightning storm I had no reception and no visibility. My GPS wasn't working correctly with no reception and this is also in an area that was affected by hurricane Helene and there was flash flooding warnings on the way up to the campground so I did what was the safest best thing for me but I just wanted to say that the prices are wonderful and fair. The facilities is beautiful. The family is kind and very communicative and I will definitely update if we are able to get a spot there this weekend so that our family can go and going with My Husband. I won't have the inability to take care of everything on my Own due to my unique situation so we'll actually make it this time lol I would highly recommend and also I did make it up there the following morning for my getaway and we were all talking about the lightning storm at a couple of places that I went and I was saying what it happened and I didn't make it to my destination where I was gonna stay and everybody that was local was like oh that's the best one out of all of the campgrounds around here if you come back, you need to stay there for sure you missed out and even though you couldn't help it, you know they're an awesome family and they have the nicest place so I did have a good word from local people too, so I'm gonna get a highly recommend for now. I'm sure it will only improve after this weekend. Hopefully there's a spot for us.!

We spent Labor Day weekend at Grandfather Campground and had a great experience. Our campsite was…read morein the wooded area, which we prefer. You can't ask for a better location as it is close to everything and everywhere we like to visit in the area. After all there is a vineyard/winery within walking distance. My only complaint was the bathroom, which seems to be consistent amongst guests. I'm a realist and don't expect a 4star bathroom at a campground, but there was a major drainage issue which meant showering in 1.5 - 2 inches of standing water one morning. My husband is a diabetic and chose to scrub down outside the shower to a avoid any possible infection to his feet. We later planned our showers for a less active time of day. If the drainage problem is too difficult/expensive to fix, it might be a good idea to purchase or build some sort of draining risers to stand on. Also a couple of door mats both outside and inside would help tremendously with the amount of dirt/grass being tracked into the bathroom and save some time and energy spent on cleaning. Even still, I have stayed at campgrounds with bathrooms in much worse condition. We had a wonderful time and appreciate them sharing their beautiful campground with us. We look forward to booking again soon.

We rented the small cabin. Good enough to sleep in, have fire, and use bbq. There is a bath house…read more Showers could use some cleaning. Bathrooms were ok. Coin operated laundry available. Nice creek. Small store for anything you need. Rv and 5th wheel hookups. Clean spacious park. Highly recommend if you want a camping experience.

Comment by Robbie is not correct. There was a construction zone. The fence mansions was a low silt…read morefence because it was the parking area for the construction workers. Not any equipment or construction was taking place. When approached by Robbie, we asked if we could continue on, he said yes, which we did. My original comment stands about the terrible confidence and treatment of campers at this campsite again if you'd like to be on the edge and be criticized and watched over every second of the day to be pounded by the representatives of d deserve Downbythe river, a lot of go ahead and stay there. I have no recommendations for you for this campsite. It is, as mentioned unfriendly hosts. I have been a safety director for many years And there was NO safety issue. In fact I had noticed several OSHA violations at this campsite which I have not yet sent to the NC DOL.

Very clean campground. Nice concrete roads thru the grounds and level concrete pads. Bathhouse…read moreappears recently remodeled and clean. Plenty of nice trees provide shading with plenty of grass instead of dirt or muddy areas. They have a covered social area on the creek with nice big fireplace. This seems to be a gathering spot at night. Several rocking chairs to pull in front of the fireplace and relax. The area itself is very convenient to a lot of NC Mountain landmarks. The Blue Ridge Parkway is approx. 1.5 miles away, Linville Falls is a 10-12 minute drive, Linville Caverns is a 20 minute drive, Grandfather Mountain approx. 20 minutes, and Tweetsie Railroad is about 35 minutes. Bottom line is this is a very nice family campground, friendly staff, and great location. We have now visited twice and will be back.
