Came to visit wrightwood to explore and ended up getting too lit. Called 3 different places and this place was the only one who accepted us at the time. The manager was very helpful and hospitable, he waited for us to get there so he can let us in because he was about to close but made the exception for us. Honestly I loved his hospitality so much I felt very inclined to leave a good review. Very nice man! Got us a room for the night to sleep off the drunkness. Check in was a breeze, we were 30 early & no problem! Room, bedding & towels were clean. We were in town for zip line so just needed a place to sleep one night. Shower: yes there was limited soap & shampoo but we always travel with toiletries so no biggie. I knew by the online pics that these cabins are very basic and inexpensive. And that's fine for the one night I needed to stay and for a low $120 price. I was just disappointed in the lack of maintenance and upkeep. There were quite a few items that were not working or in dismal condition. The cabins have great potential, they just need some maintenance. Here's my cons list: One of the electrical outlets will short out that circuit if you plug something in. Another one was just hanging out of the wall. One of the two lamps was broken. Porch light was out. Bathroom fan was out. Possible mildew/mold? See pic. Window shades were pretty dirty and didn't work properly. Wi-Fi wasn't very reliable. Pros: Very comfortable bed. Nice area right off the highway. I liked the porch. The owner/manager was very nice. The property had a nice vibe and a lot of potential. It just needs some TLC. read more

Scam alert warning. Please don't believe what you see online from this place. When we first got to the place, there was a guy standing outside yelling at us to ask if we were checking in and he immediately asked us for the name for check in. This frightened us as well because we were still in the car looking for parking in a pitch dark area. The office was unlit too. That's our first impression of the place. The rude and impatient manager got mad at us when we asked about the hidden fee that we werent aware about. (Wasn't on the online booking website, he then only showed us a picture of the hidden fee saying"this is the policy". This got me thinking to why he had this out so fast like they have done this so many time. Very unethical practice of business as I am a business owner myself. He get mad and scream at us so fast with little explanation and can't really use english to at least give us any decent customer service. But instead, all he say was; "I don't know, call my boss"(we ask for the number and he won't give it to us and told us to find it online), "I only here for custom service, I don't know how to cancel", and "I can't do anything". He then proceed to go to the back and slammed the door on us and turn off the light while other victim behind us witness the same. This to show how irresponsible him as a manager. How would one run a business if they don't know how to run an online booking service and customer service. I don't recommend this place even it may look okay. I should have read the reviews before booking this "Motel from Hell". Just like some reviewers said, a grumpy rude man was standing in the middle of the road yelling at us when we were looking for parking on the driveway. After getting the key, we followed him to the super ugly room and he started lecturing us that we can't put the toilet paper into the toilet and flush them. He said, we have to put used toilet paper into the trash can inside the bathroom and dispose them ourself to the trash bin down the driveway when we check out . WTF? Also he said , we can't turn on the light on the porch at night. And the heater must be turn off when we leave the room. The room is probably worse than "bates motel" with disgusting carpets , moldy walls, cheap sheets, paper thin towels. The horror didn't end here. The twin mattresses are wrapped in plastic then they put the sheets over the mattresses. Clearly the owner is so afraid of guests staining his cheap spring bed mattresses so he decided not to remove the plastic covers when he bought the mattresses . They provided one tiny little shop bar and one tiny sachet of shampoo for two twin bed room. I was so gross that I didn't even take shower nor sleep all night. This place was better than expected we read the reviews and read the rules so no surprises going in. The room was clean and everything worked as promised. It's mountain cabin living and and didn't disappoint. We brought extra blankets pillows sheets and towels with us just in case. We could have managed with what was on hand. Ed the manager walked us through the unit and politely explained some quirks. We had prior knowledge so I was t shocked by them. Older cabins we have stayed at have had toilets back up. With his simple remedy we had no issues. We stayed two nights and I went skiing day two as planned. It's so close to the slopes I couldn't believe it wasn't packed full. Stay here ski here should be his winter motto. We had a unit with a kitchen and the equipment worked well. Bring your own pots and pans and utensils for a great stay. read more

They should try re-opening as a "Murder Cabin Retreat", they'll definitely get more visitors. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. These people spend the BARE MINIMUM in upkeep of this place and had more cobwebs, spiders and dusty surfaces than Walt Disney's mansion. The manager, spent the first 20-30 minutes trying to turn my reservation away because he was unaware at the time their website said "pet friendly". And even after showing him the service tags for the animals, he still made several attempts to shoo us away and treat us like second class citizens. All while his three LOUD Golden Retrievers barked like crazy on the outside porch nearby! In addition, the harassment did NOT stop there! Every time we turned our heads he was walking by our cabin, making comments about us playing cards, asking us questions about our dogs while eyeing our belongings, freaking out because the screen door wasn't fully closed (even though we were just giving the dozen spiders living inside their nightly feeding).... the guy seriously wasn't trying to be nice, trust us. To everyone reading this review, the ONLY good thing to come out of all of this is that the friend I brought with me to help him forget about his father's recent passing, laughed his ass off since we left 3 hours after checking in without trying to get a refund. This is an awful place to stay, the only thing it has going for it is the location. What a shame, these cabins look like they used to be nice back in the day but the current ownership seems to not care or not know how to run a business. The fireplaces have been ripped out, but the doors and carpets from the 1970's remain. The carpet had holes and there was duct tape over tears and stains, the door was paper thin and barely locked with huge gaps under it to allow all the cold air in, the "cabin" had a random locked door in it that led to another room but was locked from the other side (sketchy), the single beds had plastic sheets under the bedding, you get the picture. Do yourself a favor and don't ever stay here. read more

THE WORST! The absolute worst motel/cabins I have ever had to deal with. I was unable to stay to due to COVID, but called them - and emailed them - multiple times ahead of my booking to try and amend the reservation. No one called me back or responded. I eventually got through to one person who, upon hearing I wanted to cancel my reservation, suddenly forgot how to speak English (after starting the conversation with a perfectly adequate grasp of the language) and started shouting down the phone at me! The cabin was dirty and dusty. The heater was an old wall heater which the vents were filthy and bent and was a fire hazard. Carpet had stains throughout and the front patio was full of pine needles and hadn't been swept or cleaned in months. Furniture was wobbly and unstable and the ceilings had white asbestos. The room rate was outrageous for the conditions. When approached with our concerns, the owner was rude and indifferent to the cabins unhealthy and unsafe condition. I highly recommend NOT staying at Mountainview cabins. read more

I came here on a Friday afternoon and checked in without a reservation. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The cabin grounds are quaint and off of a main road. My cabin (#3) was basic but comfortable and clean. It came with a mini fridge, tv, and microwave. The room, closet and bathroom are all a good size although the shower made me a little claustrophobic. It has a cute little porch where I hung out listening to some music and writing until dark. The room has a screen door which I like bc I like keeping windows and doors open for fresh air. It's super close to the Jensen's grocery store so I picked up some food and drinks and ate in. Very convenient. No complaints really at all. Everything was great! read more

The good stuff... Close to Mountain High ski resort, tubing park and right in town, very close to market and good local restaurants --- Mile High Pizza and Evergreen Cafe were great spots to eat. The room was pretty big as was the bathroom, no bathtub but a shower with plenty of hot water. Our cabin (Cabin #3) had a stand alone fireplace in it and a wall heater, which worked great and kept the room very warm. Our Cabin had a Queen size bed, pull out futon type of sofa/bed, TV (with Direct TV service) microwave, and a mini fridge (you have to unplug the tv or the fridge to use the microwave because there are not enough outlets for all to be plugged in at once) The parking was great and right next to our Cabin, The view was nice. The owner Eddie was accommodating and friendly. The negatives... This is a cabin, not a 5 star hotel by any means. The room is definately dated and a bit jankey, It had a queen size bed with outdated bedding and two tv trays for nightstands. A little table with two bar stools at it. The heater in the bathroom was broken so it could not be turned on at all which made for a very cold bathroom (it has tile floor), The carpet was questionable but did not have any noticeable stains on it. The Futon ( which looked like something Freud would have in his office) was the most uncomfortable thing to try and sleep on and I ended up opting for the floor after half a night of trying to get comfortable on it without success. My daughter was absolutely horrified that there was a no toilet paper in the toilet policy, lol - the look on her face was priceless. The walls are VERY thin and a group of college aged guys had rented the unit attached to us, we literally heard every word they said and felt the unit shake with every stomp on the floor or door open and close as they went about whatever they were doing, granted I think they were just having a good time and it did settle down after I got up and played the angry old man card. I was fine with the accommodations and might stay there again, although I can see a lot of room for improvement that would make me feel better about the price. We had a total of 5 people so we were charged $10.00 extra for each extra person, Out the door, we paid a total of $160.00 for the night which i think was a bit expensive for what it was. read more

If you're not Asian, don't judge his way of speaking or expressing, it's his business & takes care of it amazingly! CONS: there was a spider in the jacuzzi, bed isn't comfy, not enough pillows, exterior door wouldn't close, fire place told missing, outlets are old, restroom flushing issues, it's great for the price! They turned my sons away at 5 PM on a Friday night as they said they only allow 21 year olds to check in, even though that is not on their website and against california state law. They said we could get a refund through Booking.com and then Booking.com refused to give us a refund as the manager said they will not allow a refund. Stayed here in April of 2011. Great experience..even a jacuzzi in the room. For under $100.00 a night. Set up much like a studio, with the jacuzzi and the bed about 10 feet apart. It was just two of us, so privacy was not an issue. Has a microwave and refrigerator in the room. Plan on plugging in the frig when you get there. Very relaxing! Short walk into town to grab some things from the Farmers Market. Everything is close! The bed was uncomfortable, but with enough wine and the jacuzzi, who knew! I would suggest that you bring your own wood and starters for the fireplace. We will be back! read more

So Ive just gotten word from my credit union that Mt. View Cabins will not issue me a refund for their double charging scam. On 8/3/20 I booked a 2 night stay on their website reservation site, this totaled $307.41. Upon arrival Eddy (acting manager or owner, who knows!!) could not find the reservation and told me my new total was $360.93 for 2 night stay. I was charged extra $25.00 per night for a additional person (me, 12yr old and 7yr old daughters). I agreed to the charge and was told the online charge wasn't there so in my mind I only paid $360.93. The whole purpose for renting cabin #8 was that was mine and my husbands honeymoon cabin back in Feb/2008 and my 12 yr old was made that night. LOL. Since this time we lost him to cancer in 2015 so it was supposed to be kind of nostalgic to stay in this particular room. When we got into the cabin I soon noticed many health and safety violations but still remained hopeful to just tough it out and make the most of the stay. Many of the electrical outlets were loose so we had a hard time using them or charging phones Power strip running the mini-fridge and TV dangling from the wall TV not functioning (had 2 vertical lines running down it) Light fixtures missing knobs Screen door literally hanging in place with ducktape No exterior lights at night and the place gets very dark Subfloor right above steps going up to the cabin was completly rotted away and sank when stepped on Fireplace screen very frayed and dangerous Note above electrical outlet not to run even hairdryer or the circuit could blow But the best..... The toilet started spraying water from inside the tank, was going all over the floor so I had to manually turn the water off to the toilet at the wall. It was around 10pm when this started . Every time we needed to toilet we had to fill up water in a empty 32oz cup, fill the toilet basin and flush. If i had left this problem the whole room would have had water damage. I made the decision that night we would get through the night and leave in the am. At about 9:30am I took all final pics and videos of the entire room and surrounding area. I went to the office and it was closed, contacted Eddy and explained everything . He did say thank you for turning water off and asked if I could wait 30 minutes because he was at the other hotel down the road. I told him no. We agreed to letting me put the keys through the office mail slot in the door and he would refund me one night stay. THIS IS WERE THE TOTAL DRAMA STARTS!!!! Days go by, I happen to look at my back account and notice wow I was double charged. $307.41 through reservation@mtviewcabins.com on 8/3 then $360.63 charge when we came there. This guy refused to listen to me no matter how polite I was. I submitted a claim to my credit union Logix and they quickly looked into the matter and gave me a refund minus one night stay. Now I must take this place to court because Eddy will not give me my full refund of $307.41 that I shouldn't pay at all and my credit union is saying to pursue this matter they want additional $540. I just want what's fair , never wanted any fight but now this guys got a fight worse then if he just gave us a refund in the first place. Honestly my fiancé was skeptic about this due to the reviews, but this place was well accommodating and had all the necessities you need. Heater, mini fridge, microwave, towels, shampoo, and tv (with cable). Cable tv didn't work in the morning, but was good overall. We got there late due to traffic, but they let us check in no problem. Room was clean and spacious for my fiancé, child and I. There was also a bed couch. read more

We called ahead and asked if there was a hot tub and/or pool for for use, we wanted to go in the hot tub in the winter time. We were told on the phone that there was 2 pools and 2 hot tubs for guests to use. After being shown our room, we asked "Where is the pool?" The older Asian man (who I assume is the owner operator?) pointed to the bath tub in the room. When we asked "Where is the hot tub?", he again pointed to the bath tub in the room. He was the same man that confirmed on the phone about the 2 pools and 2 hot tubs for general use (he was the only staff member we saw or heard from). I guess I could blame this on a language barrier, but we would not have booked if there was no hot tub. After we checked in, he came to the room later, unannounced and barged inside for some reason. We had a friend meet us there who was in the room. He said if she stayed, it would be an additional $25 for the night, which seemed strange, but I agreed to it. He came into the room in the middle of the night for a second time, apparently to verify that she spent the night, but was quiet, trying not to disturb anyone. In the morning, he was waiting outside our door, yelling and demanding the additional $25. After a brief argument about his rudeness, we left the motel. read more

If you're planning on staying here, please take the time to read this. From beginning to end, we received horrible service. Over the phone making a reservation, the manager was rude talking to us and was upset to answer our questions. We came with 2 children, a 6 and a 4 year old, and they were both afraid to stay in the room because of the safety of our room. We had a dog with us as well, he did not stay in the room with us at night due to their pet fee, so he stayed at our friend's cabin up the street where they did not have restrictions. We woke up to our 6 year old afraid looking out the window because the manager was outside looking in to our car. We later confronted him and he said he looks in to everyone's car twice a day and did not believe that we kept our dog out of the room. It was extremely unprofessional and as we drove away he was screaming things at us, I will never stay there again, or recommend this place to any one. read more

This place is for someone who is extremely desperate for a room. The hotel worker came and screamed at myself and my wife for using a hair dryer and iron. We have video to prove it. The WiFi never worked nor did the Direct TV. The hot water was only able to fill the jacuzzi tub 1/3 of the way. Over priced with out any amenities to support the 149.99 a night price. We had to pay for our fire wood ($7.00). The room layout is great but don't expect to find any soap, shampoo or coffee. Usually when we have a problem with a room the managers do there best to accommodate. In this case we were yelled at and offered a 10.00 discount if we stayed another night. I made a reservation here and couldn't make it cause my husband couldn't get out of work so I called and tried canceling but no one answered so I get a call phone a random number not even the same area code and he is saying I can't cancel unless 3days advance even though I made the reservations the day before, I told him that doesn't make sense but he said he is still going to charge my card and I told him that's against the law but he wouldn't listen.. Not meant for glamping but if you are in need of a nice warm place with great hospitality while out in the mountains with your loved ones this place will suit you just fine. Our spacious room had a queen bed with a futon in a separate sitting area that converted into a second bed - perfect for our lil' family of 3. The room came equiped with a kitchen fully stocked with a dining table, a microwave, stove and a wood burning heater (along with a furnace) which kept us warm and snug all night long. Flat screen TV kept us entertained as well. Don't forget your toiletries though - this place does not come equiped with much more than a bar of hand soap/ The owners, an older asian couple, were really gracious and helped make us feel at home. Cabin 1 has a great view of the mountains - perfect for sitting in the porch with a warm cup of cocoa taking in the view. Like I said - if you are looking for a quick, great getaway while on a budget - than hop in - but if you're used to sleeping in a lap of luxury go elsewhere - this place is for real people and their fams :) read more
