I was traveling with my husband, daughter (w/autism) and two French bulldogs. Heading from Myrtle Beach to Wisconsin when our AC started blowing hot. Our pups & daughter couldn't take it, and it was late so had to stay at a hotel. Next day I took it to a place who let us know we needed a new AC Compressor, but they didn't have it in stock. They recommended a nearby dealership who when I went to it they told me they could do the job and had my car all day. End of the day said they couldn't do it. I was in full panic mode and called tire mountain & auto on a whim and explained my situation. I knew they were closed weekends per their website & also it was so late in the day. I was listened to, and told definitely Monday it could be done. But we had to get home. I thanked them & went to find cooling mats & portable fans to try to make the drive. A couple hours later my phone rang and it was the owner I had spoken to earlier. He called to let me know he had 2 guys willing to come in on their day off, so they could get us on the road. AMAZING owners, service, and boy is our car cold! They didn't jack up the price, which they easily could have. Forever grateful for the kindness of a stranger. I'd 1000% recommend this business! This place will try and scam you into paying for services that are not needed. Made a appointment for a transmission flush and dropped it off, they called and said they couldn't even do a transmission flush on my model car, but for some reason had been test driving my car and determined that the front breaks and rotors was bad and needed to be replaced. Neither of which is true, this place is trying to scam people into paying for services not needed. I would highly suggest getting a second opinion on anything they tell you or simply not using this business at all. read more

Took our Mazda in for repair. Took about three weeks to order parts and repair it. Bill was over $2,700. When we drove away, we stopped by McDonald's and there was smoke coming from the exhaust and there was oil leaking on our garage floor next day. We didn't drive it due to these issues and with only one car in our family, we had to wait until we could find time to take it back in. Last week, about three weeks after the first repair, we took it back in. They now want an additional $3100. Here's my beef: the Mazda is 17 years old. If they had diagnosed all needed repairs the first time and given us the appropriate estimate of $5800.00, I would have said "No thanks", and had it towed off. I feel like they were not thorough with needed repairs initially and we spent $2700 in good faith only to find out it would still not be repaired. read more

UPDATE ON FORMER REVIEW: As of 4/4/24 I will no longer be a loyal customer of, or refer friends and family to Mountain Tire in Candler. Over the past several years I have purchased 4 sets of new tires, the most recent being 5/2024 for a set of Continental tires for over $1200.00 for my 2023 Tesla. I had one of those new tires replaced in 12/2024 due to a puncture; new tire was an additional $420.00. I recently noticed side wall separation of one of my new tires and took it in to have it looked at. I was told the tire was not covered under the 40K mileage warranty, (only tread wear is covered), but they would do me a favor and order me a new tire for $465.00 (more than I originally paid). I very calmly & politely asked why they couldn't work with me and honor the 40K mileage warranty and was told that I had not purchased the additional warranty protection on my new set of tires. I was not offered this additional warranty. They admitted this warranty was not available last year when I purchased my new tires. So if this additional warranty wasn't offered/available last year then they should honor or offer some type of warranty, compensation, or discount. They offered no customer service, read more

Do not get an alignment here! I took my car in for four new tires and an alignment in September 2020. Four months and 4,700 miles later, my rear tires were bare and needed to be replaced. I knew something was up, as my previous set got 40k miles, so I took it into BMW of Asheville for inspection. They re-did the alignment and found it off by the exact amount Mountain View Tire adjusted it, only in the opposite direction. Turns out Mountain View Tire incorrectly adjusted it almost a full degree on both of the rear wheels, when it was actually perfect to begin with. I have attached the alignment print outs from both. What is even worse is that when I called and talked to the manager, Billy, he claimed that it must have gotten bumped off after the alignment, because their alignment machine is very expensive and they never make a mistake. Very disappointed in the quality of car service and customer service. Save yourself from this terrible tire shop. Another lesson in you get what you pay for. Just the fact that Billy suggested they got bumped off by 1 degree on both rears is ridiculous and only adds to the fact that these guys have no idea what they are doing. To add, they torqued my lugnuts down with air tools and it required a 2 ft breaker bar to loosen. read more

My boyfriend and I have both been here and never had a problem before. However today Andrew was exceptionally rude to me and also to my boyfriend who spoke with him over the phone to ask him questions (being that he understands car stuff more than I do) I was nonetheless appalled how Andrew acted (rolling his eyes, getting sarcastic while he spoke to my boyfriend) it was nothing short of unacceptable and unprofessional!!! I own a business myself and my boyfriend is a Senior manager of a Fortune 5K business and both wouldn't be where we are today without integrity and how we associate with others. If I imply that your demeanor was rude and that I didn't appreciate how you spoke to my boyfriend then you should accept your irresponsibility and not raise your voice and get rude yet again. I feel like as a female they were trying to take advantage of me because when my boyfriend was questioning their pricing is when Andrew started to get defensive. He also tried to take away the estimate he gave me and I asked him for it back to which he did give me. I will NEVER EVER come back to this unprofessional establishment to be treated as such! And for the record I will go to Volkswagon whom has far superior customer service and the price is also going to be $184 cheaper for spark plugs and coils than what I was quoted here!!! BEWARE!!! These people are amazing. I grew up in a family of mechanics and have been taught how to work on vehicles, so I have a decent understanding about this kind of thing. At Mountain View they are totally fair, don't try to rip you off, and get the job as quickly as they possibly can, if not sooner. They are the only place in the area I trust when it comes to auto service when the job is just too complex for my comfort zone. I went here to get my oil changed and afterwards they told me I needed my front and rear brakes done. That was over a month ago. Today I went to a different place and they told me my brakes were fine. That the rear ones had plenty of time and the front brakes had at least two oil changes of mileage before they needed to be done. If I could I would give them 0 stars! My girlfriend visited Mountain View to get an estimate to replace spark plugs (4) and ignition coils (4) on a 2011 Volkswagen. They quoted her $630 for this service. She immediately called me to question the extremely high estimate. I asked to speak with the estimator and it was an associate named Andrew. I asked Andrew for a break down of the costs/ labor/ parts and he started to get really defensive about me questioning the repair costs. Andrew did not know but we already had a quote from the VW dealership (which they are usually the highest) and their quote was $450 which was $180 cheaper than Mountain View. Andrew stated that I had no right questioning the cost of the parts and service and I informed him that I was the customer and wanted to make for sure I was getting a good deal. He rolled his eyes and gave the phone back to my girlfriend and said "you can have that." Feeling threatened and taken advantage of, my girlfriend got her car and immediately left the service center. I honestly felt Andrew was trying to take advantage and rip off my girlfriend since she did not know much about vehicles. Potential customers beware! TERRIBILE BUSINESS and even worst business owner. I took my car to have an oil change, they changed my oil and I paid when I began to leave they came back telling me I had an oil leak and they raised my car up and claimed my oil pan was cracked. IF my oil pan was cracked when I drove it in they would have seen it when they started doing the work. I took my car to my local mechanic who insured me that Mountain View Tire had cracked my oil pan while working on it. When I got in contact with the owner he was very rude, he had no idea what was going on and he refused to pay for anything. He hung up in my face several times. They also forged my signature on papers I never signed. I wouldn't advise anyone to have their car serviced there. A law suit will be in place. read more

Friendly staff and reasonable prices for 4 top of the line Michelin tires. However, I felt misled by the salesperson telling me the price quoted was the full price - including "a free alignment test." Given that the huge percentage of new tires need alignment, the extra $89 should have been included in the estimate. When i picked up the car, the sales percent went to great pains to justify the alignment (not knowing of my complaint) which told me that I wasn't alone in my concern. The management should know better and be more forthcoming about the real price of four installed tires. read more

I went to MVT today to use the Groupon purchased for $20 for synthetic blend oil change, filter, and tire rotation. I went knowing that I would have some kind of upcharge for the full synthetic blend that my car requires. When paying, the manager told me that my bill was $45 because he discounted me the $20 I paid in the Groupon voucher since the full price was $65. I nicely explained that this didn't seem correct because I purchased the Groupon for a discount, and I obviously wasn't getting a discount because add the $20 paid for the Groupon and the $45 for the oil change charge equals the full price for the service and I might as well of just went anywhere for an oil change if I was going to end up paying full price. After repeating myself to try to get him to understand after he continued to argue with me saying that I was in fact getting a discount, I gave up. I paid $20 for a Groupon that was worth $45, and not expired yet. He should of discounted $45 from the $65 full synthetic charge and asked me to pay $20. In the end he didn't. He never understood. I paid the full price and will never be back. By the way, my service, which should not of taken more than 30 minutes, took 1 hour and 45 minutes. They only had 1 guy working and he came in TWO times for a coffee break while I was waiting. So incredibly irritated. read more

Had a MAJOR engine overhaul done after a timing belt snapped and warped every single valve in the motor plus a few other little "added extras" associated with this type of incident. These guys had it back together and running smooth as butter melting off of hot cornbread in three days! The car is running just like a new one! These guys are really dishonest and deceiving. They act personable but it is a ploy. It is evident they care more about their bottom line and profit margins than quality care and customer service. I believe in supporting locally owned businesses, and I have, at times, knowingly paid more for something in order to support a local business over a national chain store. However, I also have to be cost conscious. The people who work at this store are very nice and I believe they do their best. To quote the salesman that I worked with, "I don't set the prices, I just tell you what you need." What he said I needed was a repair totaling over $721 (including a $50 diagnostic fee) to replace the radiator on a 1998 highly typical car. To be fair, this includes the core, cap, hoses, clamps, thermostat, gaskets, coolant, environmental fees, and labor. I declined the service, paid the diagnostic fee, and drove down the street .9 miles west to a different locally-owned auto shop where the identical repair was completed, using all the same parts, for $340. Yes, that's $380 less and nearly a week's pay for me. I gave them 1 star because I couldn't give them less. read more
