When gamily journeys north, Cliff Castle and Mountain Spings Buffet is our first stop. Valet, if needed, parking. Clean, immense rest rooms. Redecorated dining area with a robot assistant. I'm not sure when the buffet spreads across the steam tables, covered pans and goodie bar. We ordered simple cafe breakfasts with juice, coffee, and water. We liked our food, We got filled up. The gambling venture removed a few coins of family wealth. That was a few brief minutes. We headed back out on our journey, added some gas at Chevron. We were totally satisfied. read more

Pros: We've eaten at the breakfast buffet two days in row. Good variety. Made to order Omelette, bacon, sausage patty, biscuit with gravy, pancakes, scrambled eggs, frittata, oatmeal. Lots of drink options. I got the orange juice. Hubby gets soda, coffee, and tomato juice. If you're staying at the hotel, it's only $5! Great deal. Good service. Passed by the casino on our way to Montezuma Castle National Monument and decided to stop in to see if their buffet was open. It's a tiny buffet but it got the job done since we were short on time but hungry. Lunch is only $15+tax per person on weekdays! The selection is slim, and some items look unappetizing, but for the most part, everything I actually chose to eat was decent. I really liked the baked chicken and lasagna (Thursdays is Italian Day). Would I return? Possibly, but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to. I also wouldn't really recommend coming here if you have serious food allergies as nothing is marked. read more

Came here after checking out their menu online (and I also had a few nights booked here). The lunch buffet menu really intrigued me, promising items such as teriyaki chicken and assorted pizzas. Upon arrival, I noticed that half of the listed menu items were missing (they also have the menu posted at the entrance of the restaurant). I asked the server how the menu worked, and if they only served certain items on certain days. She shrugged her head and said "we no longer have a menu." So, basically, the menu itself is a "gamble" (haha I had to!). The Italian station they had was my favorite. The lasagna and manicotti were sooooo good. Salad bar was.. meh. Asian station was basically non-existent. No carving station (even though it was listed on the "menu"). Fortunately, not super expensive for the buffet so expectations already weren't very high. read more

This restaurant is no longer doing the buffet (COVID restrictions) but the dining they do offer is a really good bang for your buck. The size and quality of the plate of ribs I received for $9 was HUGE and impressive!! My fellow diner got a delicious patty melt with a large side of onion rings for $8. So zero issue with quality or quantity especially for the price. Since they are still allowing dine in (limited capacity) all the staff wore masks the entire time, they were constantly cleaning and all diners were more than appropriately spaced apart. We enjoyed the food and service (Maria was an absolute gem) so much we came back for Thanksgiving dinner and for breakfast during our stay there over Thanksgiving. The holiday meal was delicious (I was a little worried about handing my Turkey Day stuffing and gravy intake over to a relatively unknown restaurant crew but they did not disappoint! All was yummy and they had no issues getting me my 3rd and 4th serving of cranberry sauce lol. Management even came over to see if all was well and to ask us how our meal was (Tiffany Zepeda). She was even kind enough to take the time to recommend a few things we could do in the area since we were traveling through. All in all this place was a solid 5 for me. After driving all day from San Diego on Thanksgiving day we were all tired and hungry. Our original dinner reservation at a different restaurant turned into a major fail so we were desperate to find a place open for thanksgiving dinner that could accommodate our party of 12 at the last minute. Thank goodness for this place! They were able to seat us with little wait and everything we ordered was not only super affordable but tasty as well. The turkey dinner plate was good, the ribs were tender, the chicken was flavorful, the chicken fried steak plate was devoured by my daughter and service was friendly. Not great... Had the breakfast buffet. Just doesn't seem like real eggs and other items are also just barely edible. Had a made to order omelet, still tasted like fake eggs. Not the taste and consistency of real eggs. Biscuits and gravy were edible but not good. Corned beef hash was good but obviously pre-made right out of a can. I happen to like corned beef hash from. a can. Too bad that was the best thing they had. No toast or bagels anywhere to be found. Due to Covid, this restaurant in Cliff Castle Casino is not a buffet. We order off a menu that had a decent selection of breakfast, sandwich, and meal options. I chose the chicken fried steak dinner. It was a good-sized portion of steak, fried with a crispy coating, very tender. It came with a huge mound of real mashed potatoes with gravy, mixed vegetables, which were steamed nicely, as well as a soft dinner roll. My husband opted for the queen portion of prime rib which came with a baked potato, au jus, and steamed vegetables. His prime rib was tender and flavorful. They have just replaced the $10 breakfast buffet with a $24 brunch buffet for all Sundays. Add tax and tip, and you're paying $30 for a breakfast. If this were some very classy place, then sure, but it's quite down-home and nothing fancy. So unless you need to stuff yourself on 4000 calories for breakfast, it's now a poor deal. Alas. Given that they run the only buffet in Verde Valley, they can do what they want, but you won't find me coming here on Sunday morning. Better options are Wildflower Bread or the Coffee Pot for breakfast, which are nowhere near as expensive. On the other hand, PumpHouse Bistro will also run you $30, but you will get much classier food. read more

I'm a local, and my hubby & I eat here often.... The enjoyability of one's experience here has a very strong correlation to what you expect of it. It's is not a fabulous Vegas buffet. It's a very nice reservation casino, in a small town, right off the I-17. It's clean, bright, open. The chairs could use new and/or cleaned upholstery on the backs/tops. Not all the employees are thrilled with their lives, and it shows sometimes, but that happens almost everywhere, at odd times. We go often, and our favorite server is Joe. Ask for him! Lol The food isn't gourmet, so dont expect it, but expect lit to be pretty alright. Some of the dishes are phenom, some are rather hum-drum, some not to my taste, but nothing has ever warranteed a 'yuck'. The salad bar never fails to be fabulous, and the desert bar is quite varied & impressive, albeit sparse occasionally, due to times of day. I've asked for things before that weren't there, that I know have been there before, and it's available usually. Breakfast is very typical, but good enough. The biscuits are rather lacking. Lol. Again, it's a good variety, tho. Sunday Brunch is rather fabulous, due to the variety, and good food. In a nutshell, I wouldn't put a lot of stock in the bad reviews. Flukes happen everywhere, especially restaurants. This buffet is quite adequate, even good! I'm a fan. read more

Alright, so, it seems many are severely dissatisfied with Cliff Castle and it's offerings all together. I am shocked the stars are so bad for the Morning Springs Buffet just as I am with the rest of them. This buffet, in my opinion, really takes buffet to a whole new level. Granted, the staff didn't seem particularly joyous and outgoing, they did their jobs and it was more than I'd have expected from a buffet. Admittedly, I felt terrible that I had no cash to tip after our meal. You pay beforehand and likely don't realize they will be taking your drink order and they do have omelets made to order. So, you may want to bring a few bucks just because. I can't really think of anything they didn't have. There were eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, yogurt with toppings, pancakes, probably toast of sorts, they had an area they were taking omelet orders as I had mentioned, they had homefries (which were delicious!). Seriously, everything and I'm sure I'm missing items that have slipped my mind at this point. The moment we sat down, we were asked what we would like to drink and they kept those orange juice glasses full. The moment plates were empty or it appeared we were done, they took the plates away, except mine since the one I had been using was perfectly fine for my second round of homefries. I would also like to add, I ate a whole lot of buffet items, I don't usually eat heavily and though it wasn't heavy, it was more so than my norm. We spent the entire day out and drove all the way back to the valley, at no point did my tummy feel upset or did I feel that the quality of the food was only subparagraph. In fact, I felt quite the opposite. I was impressed with the buffet, I really was. Oh yea, they had muffins and other pastries of sorts as well. The server was fantastic. However the Thursday Italian food which shows on the menu the soup being Zuppa Tuscana as the soup it was a very mediocre minestrone that had no flavor whatsoever. The meat and fish were very dry and overcooked. It was totally overpriced at 18 per person. read more

Average food on a busy evening. The coconut shrimp was excellent. But the stark was not very flavorful. The dessert bar was em deserted. Not many items at 7 p.m. and noone coming it up soon. The worst part would be a supervisor/ manager clearing off a table then throwing a towel unto a customer's shoe/ the floor. The employee then picks up the towel and "cleans" off a table with said towel. REALLY BAD. Should never happen, let alone in front of customers. I'm stunned. Traveled 3 hrs from Tucson to celebrate a belated birthday for my Mother. We had a BOGO free. Upon approaching the cashier named Mathew, I noticed a rude interaction between him and a guest. We had no idea what had transpired so we politely greeted Mathew. He did not reciprocate. As he mumbled our total for our meal, my mother asked him to repeat himself. Mathew became shockingly agitated. He was so rude to my mother , who was trying to be so nice to him. I was taken a back. I told Mathew that I hoped his day would get better. I was floored at his reply... he said" oh it will , once I get out of here". My heart was broken at his treatment towards my mother , but I'm at a loss how an establishment can possibly think an employee like Mathew is ok to have in the front of the house position. This is by far the worst that I have ever experienced, and I live in Camp Verde! I would have given it zero stars if I could have. Food was absolutely gross!! Overpriced cold food. This was our first visit - unfortunately it was a Sunday so the buffet priced @ $24/person up from $10/person. It was a brunch compared to just breakfast. It was 7am in the morning so coconut shrimp was not what we were interested in. So okay we drastically overpaid for breakfast, which sucks but... The breakfast items were so terrible no one took more than 2 bites of anything. In fact the only good thing was a store bought danish. Bacon severely undercooked. Biscuits were so dry you could not chew/swallow them. The rolls were good, but so cold the butter would not spread. The Mountain Springs Buffet at the Cliff Castle Casino is pathetic! They open for dinner at 4:00 after closing for an hour after lunch. We got there a 4:45 and the buffet choices were in sad shape. The pan with fish in it had 3 dried up pieces., which must have been left over from lunch. The mixed vegetables were limp and almost cold. I understand that normally on Wednesdays they have either fried or baked chicken, there wasn't either. The chicken nuggets were overcooked and dried out. Most of the other selections on the line also looked like they had been there for hours. There were only four tables of customers so fresh food couldn't have been put out for the 4:00 opening. I don't know what the health department requires as far as steam table temperature and of the temperature of the food, but I doubt this buffet could have passed inspection today. Sadly, they charge $18 a person for this substandard food selection. Before Covid they had a superb buffet, and during Covid a nicely run order per menu. Since they went back to a buffet, they apparently lost a real chef, raised the prices and take zero pride in what they offer and how it is prepared ... and it's even more expensive ($24) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Wow- we have been here before and the food is really not bad. Great prices and filling breakfasts. This time we left before ordering. Our waitress was beyond rude. She asked for our drink order and was exasperated when my husband asked for an Arnold Palmer because she would have to go "look" for lemonade. The. We asked a question-just one about the menu. She didn't have the answer and we asked if she could ask the cook. She rolled her eyes huffed and walked away. That was it. We went to the hostess stand, offered to pay for our drinks and left. We check off what food we wanted on a slip of paper and waitress brought out a plateful of food for us. The starter bread was so soft and delicious. Salad was fantastic; entree..not so desirable. It was an international menu with one item from each of about 7-8 countries like Italy, Japan, Mexico, etc etc. There was turkey and stuffing/cranberry, chicken cordon blue, pork loin, some not-so-tasty beef thing, bland vegetable medley...reminds me of a Hometown Buffet menu. There was mussel with soy something that is far from Japanese and not very edible. Finished off with cherry pie, brownie and chocolate cake. I know I'm spoiled by the quality of the buffets at the Phoenix area casinos, so I set my expectations accordingly. Granted, it's midweek and most of the customers are retirees. I gave two stars because the staff was great. Attentive service and very nice. The food was pretty standard and mediocre. The rolls were hard and inedible. Many of the standard items most likely came from cans and boxes. Even the lettuce was a bit limp. The brisket was good - not laden with sauce so you could taste the meat. The beef and broccoli had great flavor, but the veggies were soggy. The chicken pieces were fairly good - they had an interesting spice and were juicy, but not crispy.
