Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and offered some suggestions on places to eat in and around town. Then, there was the wine.....which did nothing for either of us. Its not bad, it is just not what we like or appreciate. The majority of what they pour are blends of unusual and uncommon grape varietals, so its hard to compare or judge the wines to others in the region. The tasting fee is $10 a person for five samples, however, from the list of wines you have to choose from, there were many unavailable because they were sold out. That situation left us feeling like we only got to taste what nobody else wanted. Overall it was just "OK", but we probably won't return.

There was no reason for these people to keep 5k with as much notice as they had The ultimate bait and switch. Our experience began with pulling up to our appointment time to about 15 other people in 3 different groups standing outside in the rain. We approached and they informed us that we could go take a look around the property, (unguided, uninformed, and in the rain). When we returned to the front about ten minutes later everyone was gone and there was a person outside that informed us that we could take our shoes off and go inside the guest house with the ~15 other people that were there. We walked around by ourselves for about 20 minutes until we were finally approached by someone. At that point it was time to go to the "something borrowed barn". By the name you would assume what this is. No. It is a warehouse painted red to match the rest of the property. When they let you in the door you are actually entering about a 200sqft room with the 15 other people touring the property at the same appt time and are all expected to share ONE (1) mock decoration table in which you may choose decorations they have in two cabinets in the room for your wedding day. Upon further questions the linens on the table and displayed in the room you may choose all other decor from are only available for rental. I wish this was the worst of it. The icing on the cake (and what they failed to disclose prior to committing to them) is that they do not allow liquor without a super special ultra premium gold star bartender with a super exclusive lisence

And the guest house is spacious and lovely. We decided it was the perfect location for our wedding! The best part about this venue is the people we worked with to plan our wedding day. Megan was gracious and extremely helpful in choosing all of the decorations, china, etc. Our wedding was in October of 2016 during the freak rain we had in Northern California that year. As our wedding day approached, it became apparent that it was going to rain. We were faced with paying $5,000 to rent huge tents! Instead Mardy offered us the use of their indoor facility - the Foothill Event Center at no extra charge. She literally saved our wedding day! Although we didn't have the bucolic ranch wedding we envisioned, we had a perfect wedding day! We will be coming back during a less rainy time of the year to renew our vows on our seventh anniversary :)

I will simply say that if you're a wine snob this is definitely not the place to venture too. Once again if you're a wine snob the wines will probably not be appealing to your palate. The wines are decent, we did purchase a sparkling which was the best out of all the ones we tasted. I don't like sparkling wines & this one was fairly decent. Which makes me sad and such because Amador/Jackson is nearby and they are an old favorite Zin haunt for me... I mean well over a decade now. Anyway, the wine is... Not to my taste. Just.... No depth, no big CA kick, just... just what it is. Which isn't super great. I really wanted to like it. I mean you got some pool time drinking wine. But nothing to pour and curl up with. Nothing to to serve and romance with. Sigh. Tasting room was nice and had some live music. Instrumental type, background goodness. Nice staff. I liked all three of their available reds; all of which had a fruity sweet flavor. Even the port was light and sweet; it did not have a strong alcohol taste. Atmosphere - Beautiful views!! And you can see as far as Tahoe. 13.5 miles off of 80, and you have to drive through some "back roads;" not an easy place to find. Good thing for 4-wheel drive and GPS. One of the few wineries in this area that is open 7 days a week from noon to 5pm; Thank you! Plenty of parking. You can also bring your own picnic baskets. :) It is so nice that you also host weddings here - 8 just last year! Service - Linda Clough (founder) is amazing. As we did not know our schedule today, we did not make an appointment, but I wanted to drive and check out the winery anyway. They let us in with no problems. :) The friendly employee greeted us as we entered the gate and called Linda to meet us at the tasting room. What service! Linda gave us a tasting, then suggested we get a glass while touring the vineyard. Then we relaxed on the patio overlooking the vineyards towards Lake Tahoe. What a great place to take a break from our road trips. We talked about our kids and that they both lived in Southern CA; I will be in Santa Monica in April, so hope to run into you there. :) Oh, and there is a friendly family dog who ended up joining us on the patio. My wife and I have gone here twice and left with wine both times. The little room offers up tastings from wineries that don't have their own tasting rooms. Small lots. Nothing you will find in BevMo or your best friend's cellar for sure. We found Convergence Winery by first tasting here and most recently, a great Cabernet Franc from Willow Creek. You are not going to the little room for ambiance or great views. You will also not run into a tour bus or, worse, a bachelorette party while you sip. If the owner is pouring port, take the chocolate tasting as instructed. She knows what she is talking about.

Its a bigger and sleeker store with alot more items to choose from! They have the best EVOO ( extra virgin olive oil) and seasoned salts ! Plus vinegars and so much more! I picked up more smoked salts which flavors everything! They have free tastings as well. The employees that work there are VERY knowledgeable to meet your needs!
