Bacon wrapped sirloin
Jenn N.

Not gonna lie, when my coworkers were excited about going here for dinner I wasn't expecting much. I mean, most of the restaurants out in Edson are Mom & Pop places (heavily laden with burgers & pizza) and of course if you wanna go fancy there's the Boston Pizza. Honestly not thinking it would be busy, we didn't make reservations. But when we arrived, it was packed! Luckily we got a table within 10 mins. Scanning the menu, I could see they were staying true to their name - they were really focused on steak and pizza. I settled on the bacon wrapped sirloin. It came with a starter house salad and garlic bread. I'm not a huge bread fan, but my coworkers insisted I try some. I am so glad I did! The toasted slices were wonderfully coated with garlicy goodness Yummmmm All our steaks arrived together and we all dug in. I was thoroughly surprised because it was probably one of the best steaks I've ever had! Now I know I can look forward to some good eats the next time I'm in Edson.

Had breakfast at this little restaurant for a week, while staying at the Best Western High Road Inn in Edson, AB. Firstly, this location is based in the BW High Road Inn. It's pretty casual and relaxed. I had breakfast vouchers from the BW, which gives you about 4-6 breakfast options you exchange your voucher for. Or if your willing to pay extra, there's an extended breakfast menu. Which still uses up your breakfast voucher, but gives you a lot more to choose from at a subsidize price. I honestly believe you get more food (which is pretty important, if you have an appetite quite like mine). The servers were always very kind, pleasant and respectful; the mornings can be a bit busy but they will always seat you promptly if they see you entering the restaurant. From there on, you have access to "all you can drink coffee" as you browse their menu offerings. I personally had the "Egg Breakfast" which composes of 2 eggs, a choice of 2 strips of bacon, 2 thin slices of ham, or 2 breakfast sausages, hash browns and 2 slices of toast. I love eggs, so I would always opt to add an additional 2 which will took me back $3. I switched it up each day; first day I had ham, which was very thin, but good. Just enough for your mind to realize it's having some other sort of protein. Second day had me going for the bacon, fairly thin cut bacon as well; but still good bacon. Third day I had the breakfast sausage, which I believe is probably the better option of the 3. They offer a bit more meat then the other two. Fourth day, I upgraded, decided to try the steak and eggs. Medium rare, with salt & pepper or steak spice whichever they had, 2(2) eggs, hash browns & whole-wheat toast w/ peanut butter (+ $3 for additional 2 eggs). The steak was so delicious, had me very thankful and appreciative of the fact that my medium rare steak was exactly as I requested. Can't take those little minuté details for granted, if the dining experience is important to you. Overall, I always felt welcomed and left well fed at this restaurant; make sure to check this location out if you happen to be in the Edson area.

Do not order the chinese. Thick sugar coated and not what they advertise.. Example Chow mein with…read moreno noodles. Terrible. But its in a hotel and its open early and late. The prices are all over the map. I dont like giving bad reviews but ordering chow mein and not getting noodles is like ordering a black coffee and having it come with liquid sugar. Things are what they are and if you are going to go rogue then you might deserve to lose customers. And what did come was like bad mall food. Worth 5 bucks a plate not 20.

Do not come here looking for the delicious Olympia Greek restaurant. This has become a Pizza…read morePalace. Stayed to try it out and saw they had a Chicken Souvlaki as the 'Palace Special'. Definitely not the special I was looking forward to. The salad was delicious and the waitress was very sweet - 1 star. The rest - not sure where the chicken came from but it wasn't fresh, french fries, white steamed rice with some kinda herbs just shaken on top, and sour cream with maybe cucumber (but barely) - they called it tzatziki but none like I've ever had.

So actually this gets a 3.5 stars if I could rate it so. Based in a strip mall, entering it I was…read moreconfused by its odd décor. On one hand it hand Greek paintings on one half of the place which are actually quite unique and nice. On the other half there are four tv screens all playing different channels and odd bar with hockey and sports memorabilia in it. I hate this type of place. A place that isn't confident in itself and is trying to cater to too many people. I would of stuck with the Greek. As far as I know this is the only Greek restaurant while there are other places where you can check out a sports game. I probably would have left then, but it was already close to 8 PM and on a Sunday most places close at 9 in Hinton (the independent ones anyway). Our server was pleasant enough. Menu was diverse in terms of Greek food, I saw many dishes that I haven't seen in Greek restaurants in Edmonton, plus some pastas and other non Greek dishes. They also have a really good wine selection with some Greek wines which I appreciated. I decided being hungry after all day hiking, the shrimp Slovakia platter, while my husband tried the lasagna. Both dishes came out in a reasonable time. The flavours though were hit and miss. My platter, in general, was good. The shrimp actually was excellent. Perfectly cooked and lovely flavoured, I would order it again. The lemon half potato was cooked perfectly as well with the right lemon to olive oil ratio. The rice, was fine but bland, however often the rice is. It is meant just to be a carb to fill you with the meat. The salad was okay, but only one olive in the whole thing (?) and the dressing could use some tweaking. Also there was a tonne of salad and half of potato with a small amount of rice. I wished there was more of a balance on the plate. The real issue I had was the pita and tzatziki. No way was that tzatziki that I had. It was definitely Caesar salad dressing. It did not in any way, shape or form resemble tzatziki. I ate the pita without it. My husband said the lasagna was decent, however not awesome. It came out ridiculously hot which made it hard to eat. My husband was pleased with the amount of meat, but didn't like the sauce at all. Too sweet without any of the usual rosemary/basil/oregano flavours you would expect. I think their bare bones are good, but they need to up the game in terms of sauces. This wouldn't be the first place I would go to, but I would also give it another try...especially on a Sunday night where the chains are busy and obnoxious and the independents are few.
