Bruce Jett is the owner of this Buy Here Pay Here Dealership, "Mountain Motors", located in Frederick, Maryland. Mountain Motors & the owner Bruce Jett take advantage of people. He monetizes off of the unfortunate situations of others and sells them vehicles that are salvage title that would not have even passed Maryland Inspection. Like other patrons have previously left in their reviews. He has hired his own personal Maryland Inspector who works there once a week and passes all the illegal cars. My 2006 Toyota Corolla was sold to me around July 2024 with the check engine light on, left and right front apron bent (frame), left front bumper hanging from previous accident, extreme pull to right when drove. I have replaced front tires 8 times, brakes, alternator, and battery 5 times due to electrical miswiring. Exhaust that comes up through holes in floor which is a carbon-monoxide issue to the point it is nauseating. They make no attempt to remedy the situation since notified within 24 hours of purchase not only to Bruce but to Owen who sold the vehicle. I spoke with Bruce Jett directly the morning after(9:00am) purchase of 8:30pm, and was told he did the legal minimal requirement required by law, he would not provide different vehicle, nor return my money. He stated don't bother with a lemon law approach because not a new vehicle. I have been told by a body shop that this salvage vehicle is not safe to drive nor should have been sold with bent frame. Another mechanic shops states that this vehicle should not have even passed inspection and is not legal in Maryland. I also notified Jeanne (finance manager) verbally and by email of the situation. However, even now when I reach out to Jeanne, their financial company representative ,which is located on site. In fact he has three separate businesses listed , yet in one building. The Mountain Motors portion who supposedly sells the cars, Royal Trust the finance Company and his Auto shop with yet another name. that is located at the dealership that Bruce also owns. I tried to trade in on another vehicle yet would not provide pay off amount. I have also reported them to the Better Business Bureau. Please do not trust these people with no parts of an experience that you should be happy and enjoyable. Save yourself from going through what myself and so many other people have/are going through with this dealership. Disregarding this info they referred my deceased father's account to collections who called last week opening old wounds for my mother. Trash people trash company. read more

I need to make a complaint about Mountain Motors of Frederick MD. I'm a veteran and I expected better from this dealership given how the owner, Bruce Jett, is a veteran like me. The car I was sold on August 17th 2023 is a 2009 Chevy Malibu with and none of the door locks work, the glove box handle doesn't work, the radiator fan blew as well as the radiator and it has a million other problems with the engine. The engine light keeps coming on, the car shakes at 60mph. The salesperson and the service manager refused to take the car back and they said the Maryland lemon law is only applicable to new cars. This dealership seems to selling used cars that break down within 30 days as well as appears to be a predatory lender. This should not be acceptable as a dealer practice. For one, they should have a return policy if the vehicle keeps breaking down within 30 days and a money back guarantee, but it appears as if they do not and therefore this seems very predatory. I have made a complaint to the US States Attorney and the Maryland Attorney General. As a veteran who has 100% service-connected disability, this should not have happened to me at the hands of another veteran. The only other option was a smart car they had on the lot. It is very sad that another veteran has done this to me and that there is no protection or refund for these type of issues. There's also no inspection sticker on this car. They claim they didn't need to put the inspection sticker on the car. Now I wonder if it was actually inspected. read more

Absolute worse car buying experience I have had & learning lesson. Mountain Motors & the owner Bruce take advantage of people in bad situations financially and sell them vehicles that should not have even passed Maryland Inspection. He has hired his own personal Maryland Inspector who works there and passes all the cars. My 2007 Saturn Ion was sold to me with the check engine light on, front window would not go down, back passenger window would not go down, every time it rains massive amounts of water comes inside the car (therefore there is mold), the throttle body went out within less than two months, the fuel pump went out ($704 later), over ten different electrical issues. At no point have they tried to remedy the situation. Even now when I reach out to Jeanne, their financial company that is located at the dealership, that Bruce also owns, refuses to provide to me my no penalty pay off, stating she can not provide the amount in an email. However, I have several other emails where information has been provided by them. I have reported them to the appropriate parties in Maryland. This establishment is a fraud. I wish there was a 0 star rating. They prey on poor people like me, with bad credit, that turn to these no credit check used car dealership. They appear kind and helpful but their vehicles are crap and they know it. I leased a car from them with a 2 year contract and after paying off the vehicle, I learn the car had many cover ups. I bought a Blue Dodge Avenger from there and within the first 2 weeks and several trips to drop the car off to the dealership the head gasket went in the car. I was told we will put another motor in it for you. I went to pick the car up and not one person Jason the so called salesman and the owner Bruce Jett could not tell me how many miles was on the motor they supposedly put in. Bruce said in all his years mine was the only engine that didn't come with a receipt. Jason also said that when they inspected the car he admitted to finding anti-freeze in the piston. These people are a scam and sell you STRAIGHT LEMONS. If you have a bad experience with these crooks we need to start reporting them to the Better Business Bureau, and to the Maryland Automobile Dealers Association. Also do not be afraid to take these people to court so they become recognized for what they are doing. read more

my daughter bought a car from Mountain Motors, and I really wish she hadn't they have screwed her over many-a-time. As soon as she finishes paying off her car loan with them we will never buy a car or tell people to buy from them ever. My best advice- do not buy or loan from them-ever (her daughter speaking) As a buyer of the car, i am very frustrated with this company. I try to keep up with my payments, and everytime i call it seems that i owe more money when i had talked the month before and they said i was up to date. It just always seems like i'm paying more and more money and nothing is getting paid off. Then they tell me it has to be paid this summer because the 2 1/2 year loan i signed up for will expire and if i dont pay it all they have the right to take the car till i do pay it. they have all these rules about my car when i'm the one paying them, but clearly not giving enough money. I own a 2001 Hyundai sonata that was 500 down, needless to say over 2 1/2 years, ive had to pay 7000+ which is WAY MORE then the car is even worth. Do not Buy a car from them. My boyfriends car wouldn't start in less than a year, the check engine light was always on. Their own mechanic would say they fix the problem but another problem would happen less that 2 weeks later. Now his car won't start and his been in their mechanic for about a month. If I could rate no stars for them I would. This car dealership will give anyone a car I will admit that. However the cars they sell are complete lemons. They have their own body shop so they fraudulently do their own inspections. I bought my car and not even a month later I had to put money into it. Yes they do offer warranty however the fine print needs to be read. It only covers 3 things and they revoke it if you are behind on payments. I grew really tired of putting money into the car after 4 months. The final straw was my car kept cutting off and several dealers told me I would need to pay 2300 to repair everything that was wrong with the car. I bought my car on Sept 12, 2015 no more than 6 days later check engine came on. Took it to Advance auto came up with Codes P0871, P0440x2, P0700, P0847. Took it to Aspen their auto repair shop and they said they would fix it. Yea right they did nothing but change two belt? Really I maybe a woman but mama didn't raise no fool. My car has been to them 4 times and once to the transmission specialist Aspen sends their work to. Now mind you I live in Silver Spring Md it is 50 miles away from them each way. My tire had a nail in it so I took it to a gas station to have it plugged. The mechanic said my breaks are cracking literally were breaking off in peace's (how this passed inspection) oh I know they have their own state inspector duh!! The mechanic said my rotors are wrapped, Oil leakage everywhere under the hood. I took it up again to have them fix it again for the fourth time and the sales manager started yelling at me and cursing at me saying I put 2000 miles on the car. I don't care if I put 50000 miles it's my car. As I said I live in SS, so to take it to Fredrick back and forth is 100 miles each time. Needless to say stay away from them. They are crooks and liars. This is not the place to go to buy a used vehicle with crappy credit. Every single one of their cars is junk and has problems. Their warranty is a joke. Bruce rips people off and Kevin (the sales guy) is probably the stupidest person on earth and has NO idea about MD inspections or cars. For instance, I asked what kind of transmission was in a car. His reply "uhhhh, a Chevrolet transmission!" He also says passenger seat belts aren't a necessity to work to pass MD inspection. Dumb. Ass. Shockley Honda has a BHPH offer, go there. STAY AWAY FROM THIS TRASH BUSINESS !!! I am a very fair person but when people are scamming customers just to make a buck.....I lose all fairness!! This place is horrible. Trust that any positive reviews are paid commentators or employees. They sold me a super sour lemon that broke down 3 days later and continued to make minor changes to the car to make appear to be okay. The car kept breaking down and I eventually drove it to their lot and left it. They took me to court to try and get me to pay the remaining of the balance on a broke down car. They are well known in the Frederick area as trashy dealers and I was only sucked into it because I was not from the area and did not read any reviews on them. My fault. this is a horrible company that sells complete lemons. I bought a Buick lesabre from them in 2015 and the car was a complete lemon. The car complete broke down on me twice , mind you i lived in Richmond, VA at the time, still under warranty, ( i mean it was clear engine problems). I took the car their a two different times, on the second go around they tried to tell me I would have to pay for some engine mounts (engine mounts are part of the engine right?!?!?!?!?) like wth. what kind of company does business like that. So we left the vehicle their and refused to pay for anything until the vehicle was fixed. Being that it is now 2016, this horrible disgusting company is actually trying to sue me for non payment.
