Not quite done for the day, it's time for another round of drinks and food. Citizen Cider was open…read moreuntil 8 so when I got here in a rainstorm at 7, it was quiet. Still serving and happy for the business. I chose a pint of The Unified Press and an order of the Crispy Brussels, both of which arrived swiftly. The cider was semi-dry with just a bit of sweetness. A perfect nightcap. The Brussels sprouts was a big portion and half of it went into a to go box. But the first half, I enjoyed very much until it was closing time. This was a lovely way to end my day of exploring Burlington. Nice warm spot, friendly service and great eats/drinks. I am only bummed that they were sold out of their non-alcoholic The Clean Mayor to bring a pack back home to my wife. [Review 1657 of 2024 - 146 in Vermont - 22680 overall]

We sampled a variety of them before choosing full pours of the Unified Press (standard cider), and Wit's Up (a bit hoppier, perfect for us IPA lovers). Weren't really a fan of their other selections, as we felt the added in flavors overpowered the appley flavor. Ordered a double patty burger, which was pretty tasty and juicy. Fries were extra. Overall, okay cider, good food, and good service. Probably a 3 for the cider, but service and food bump it to a 4.

Came in here and we were the only ones like in the other two cideries. The big difference here is that Du Minot makes A LOT of ciders of all types. The woman helping us guided us through their portfolio and let us try just about everything they offered from bottle pours including pours of specialties and old vintages. Lots of fun. However, most of what they make is okay and not stellar and almost everything can be bought at Marche des Saveurs in Jean Talon Market in Montreal. So go here for the experience, not for specific bottle hunting. I loved trying the ciders and the staff was hilarious and good spirited though possibly already drunk.

Lobo apples are delicious! There's ladders for those hard to reach apples and plenty of children's parks around and even a little farm with goats and chickens so a great day out for all the family!

If you go during peak apple picking season in September, expect to find large crowds everywhere! If you go in the beginning of October, it is much less crowded and you may even be able to find an available ladder in the orchard. I personally prefer visiting in the first two weeks of October since you can pick Cortland apples as they're the last type of apple to ripen and they keep really well. In September, it's too early for them and they're usually very small and unripe. What to know about visiting during covid is that you're not allowed to eat the apples in the orchard but then again, there's no enforcement of it so people do so anyway. There are lines to go into the boutique and bistro but you have the music of the live band to keep you entertained while you wait. They make some sought after apple donuts and the best place to pick up the donuts are at the Bistro. You can get them fresh out of the fryer and it's 6 for $13.75. They're not as appley as I had hoped, rather they're very doughy and cinnamony. They're best eaten fresh. We warmed them up in the oven the next day but not as good. So my advice is to get what you can eat immediately. If you want honeycrisp apples, those are available outside the boutique already picked, available in 3 sizes: 3lb, 5lb and 10lb. You can also buy other pre-picked apples and mini sour apples. There's a very tall sour mini apple tree located at one of the intersections in the orchard and the kiddies love eating them. If you're going during peak season, go early because the crowds swell as the day progresses. There's tons of parking around so that part isn't a problem. Since they're open year round, you could save the visits to the boutique for another time and avoid the crowds.
