Why or why has this place been getting such positive reviews? I recently stopped to sample the Lunch Buffet and the traffic was limited, and there was good reason. The salad bar was acceptable; the pizza was... well, limited in offerings; but I thought pizza was supposed to have sauce. By the time I got to the third piece of pizza, which is barely warming up for me, there was some barely detectable sauce. Two of the three pizzas under the warmer, that did a questionable job, were burned on top. By that time though, I knew it was time to leave. The experience reminded me of my Mountain Mike's experience in Reno, NV that gave me no motivation to return. The employees were Not unfriendly, but I found no reason to ever go back. The pizza is still really good. Service has changed dues to the new staffing but quality of food still remains good. Staff is not as super friendly as before but the my food usually is out on the table with in 10 min. If you can get my order right and on time in 10 minute, I'm a happy customer. read more

I wanted to give 2 and a half stars to be fair but that's not an option so I gave 2. My wife and our 2 y/I tried out mikes for the very first time since moving here a year ago. I think my wife ordered the meat lovers or something. It had pepperoni , sausage , ham, mushrooms, and olives. Honestly the topping were pretty good but the cheese, sauce, and crust were nothing special. My wife noticed how the crust was thicker on one side then the other like they didn't roll the dough out evenly or something. Also the toppings could slide off the crust pretty easily. I ended up just scraping the toppings with a fork and eating that first then eating part of the crust. My wife got there before me and ordered. She said they customer service there sucks the girls behind the counter aren't friendly or welcoming at all. The waitress who brought out pizza put it in a to go box even high we said dine. No big deal because we took half the pizza home anyways. Just too bad the waitress was actually listening to my wife's requests. Ordered 2 pizzas for carry out tonight at 6:45 my wife went to pick them up at 7:15 and was told the pizzas were still in the oven. She waited 45 mins at the restraunt and when they called her up to the counter to get the pizzas the boxes weren't even hot and by the time she got home the pizzas were lukewarm (5 mins away). To top it off one of the pizzas was overcooked with burnt cheese and rubber crust ends. Never returning here again! Placed an online order on Sat. 04/16/16 at 6:05 pm. for 2 (two) medium pizzas. Estimated delivery time said 45 min. I called them at 7:08 to ask if they knew when our delivery would arrive, the female who ans. said it should arrive asap it already went out for delivery. Called back at 7:41, still no pizza. When our delivery guy finally arrived he only had 1 pizza!!! I called back again, same female answered every time, this time she said she was the manager. She said they would make us another pizza ASAP and have their other delivery guy who was there bring it to us NOW. 1 hour later, still no pizza. Called them again, at 8:50 she said the owner himself was making this delivery. He should be arriving anytime. Our pizza was finally delivered at 9:03 by the same kid who brought the first one. (Did she think we would believe that kid was the owner? Lol) It took them 3 hours to deliver a cold pizza. Needless to say, I will NEVER be returning there. They're not the only mountain mikes in salinas. Will be going to N.main location or Alisal. even lil Caesars has better service than this place. I picked up a pizza today and it was ready when they said it would be and it was made perfectly. When I dine in I enjoy their amazing salad bar, which is a very nice feature because alot of other restaurants are doing away with theirs. Once again, online ordering gets it wrong. Delivery is free to areas three miles or less away. I live 1.53 miles from the restaurant but could not leave to pick up order. My child was down with the flu and the entire household was not feeling well. How to remedy the problem of being charged for a bogus delivery fee? I know; forget about the tip. Ok let's start at the beginning. We walk in and every table is dirty. We had to clean a table ourselves to be able to sit down. Then I order and it's $50. For two drinks, two salads and a xl pizza. The salad bar was pathetic and my salad was basically lettuce and tomato because everything else was empty oh and the lettuce had enough left for me to make mine, it was empty afterward. They call my name and I go up after saying the pizza was for HERE. She goes to hand me a box and says "to go. Right?" No actually here. "Well it says to go" uh ok. They put the pizza on the platter and bring it to the table and hmmm there's barely toppings on this golden pizza. Okay it's edible and my kids are eating. That's what's important. Afterward the kids are playing the machines and it eats their quarters. Her response "yeah... We have a sign... We don't refund when it eats money" great. How about a sign that says this machine is broken. Well, hopefully after all this I don't get food poisoning. read more

Family's favorite pizza!! Never have I had a problem with online ordering. Pizza took about an hr long for delivery but totally understandable for being lunch hour for most (both pizza were still super HOT). Pizza was well proportioned with toppings & cheese. Let me just start with how I love pizza!! Thin crust, thick crust...I love them all! Which also means that I have eaten a fair share of pizza to know a good pizza when I see one. I had one of the best pizza here at this restaurant. Kim made it himself so he customized it to my liking. The jalapenos added that little kick that I wanted, and the dough was so good! I have never thought that I would sign up for yelp, write a review for anything; but the fact that he was so attentive and welcoming to his customers actually made me want to give him and his store the praises he deserves. The pizza is flavorful; salad bar is inviting; and the employees are welcoming. It's family oriented; I like the fact there are multiple TV's which is pretty cool; the employee's are always trying to give their best service to customers; the one thing that stood out is that they are able to multi task not only handling phone orders as well walk-ins and I just have to say it customers like me that are always in a hurry sometimes can be pretty impatient and ....... I take my hat of and give props to the employees because they put up with so much from customers like me that can be pretty impatient. The place is always busy and sometimes there are two employees who are just amazing doing their best in satisfying every customer and yeah sometimes there are tables with some dishes on there but that's understandable some people just got up and left and employees are answering phones etc. some of us are empathic and then there are some of us that aren't. I hate to give any business a bad review but if I can save someone from being in the same position as me, I will do it. So we stopped in Salinas on our way back to the central coast from San Francisco, our intentions were to grab a good quick bite, so we saw mountain Mikes, why not, a quick fresh pizza, be in and out in 30 mins right? So we arrived there were two families sitting eating their meals as we ordered ours, sweet no line/ no wait, I ordered a mini 6" pizza and John ordered an oven baked sandwich, and for the wait we decided to share a salad which we made at their salad bar. The salad bar was ehhh, not great but not bad. So 25 mins rolls around and we are still waiting around for our small meals, and mind you this restaurant is freezing inside because the employees propped open the back door which immediately brings the cold breeze into the dining area (because the kitchen itself is blocked in by walls) so I'm sitting here uncomfortably cold waiting for my food. It wasn't until maybe 35 minutes that I received my mini 6" pizza, which was whatever, too greasy for my liking. The worse part was that as I saw my pizza coming out, I saw Johns sandwich BARELY going in the oven!! So he had to wait another 10-15 minutes before he got his sandwich! Boooooo! We just don't understand why it took so long, yeah they may have phone orders but they should still attend and focus on the customers in front of them! The service was really disappointing too, the young Brunette was too busy talking and taking pictures with her co workers at the register to focus on the orders. Very unprofessional, and then she had the nerve to tell her co workers that she should be in charge... Yikes of what running the business to the ground? When we asked her what was taking the sandwich so long she said well we have to put it through the oven.... Um didn't you have to put this pizza that I just ate 10 minutes ago through the oven as well? You'd think they come out at the same time at least, not 20 minutes apart. I was very disappointed in this location, hopefully management will get this message and take care of the problem. read more

Excellent service! Great attitude, best service in town. The building may seem small but the employees' hearts are big. The pizza is a marvelous mixture of ingredients that seem to come locally (I don't know if they are) and the salad bar was beatiful and clean and correctly labeled unlike most places. read more
