I've been to many and most antique places simply display their stuff without themes or much organization. Basically, they are nothing more than indoor garage sales with stuff as old and in need of repair as the place itself. Old Crow Antique Mall is very different. It's more like a multi-faceted establishment -- part antique store, part museum (where you can buy from the collections), part furniture store, part collectibles shop, and part jewelry store with a place you can enjoy a cup of latte while you decide how you're going to cart home everything you want to buy. Yes, there are antiques here, beautifully displayed in glass cases as well as in cubicles. If you need something from the display cases there are plenty of employees walking around ready to assist. In the display cases, I also saw collections of coins, baseball cards, toy cars including Matchbox, precious stones, jewelry, knives, plates, fine ceramics and statues. In the lower level, there is a collection of animal heads suitable for mounting above your stone fireplace. Scattered throughout the store were furniture pieces of all types and sizes. (Some we are considering for our home.) There were lots of vinyl records although their conditions and pricing weren't the best, but we did find some new Longaberger baskets that were easily half the normal price! There were also new pieces done by artisans that technically aren't antiques but are something you might consider when adding to your home to give it more class and character. If you're not in the mood to buy, but you're a visual person who loves to window shop, There are enough items that you can walk around admiring for hours. The person working the cash register looked it up and said it would be $51. 3 minutes later, I found the EXACT same shawl in a small which had a price tag of 41.50 (the first one was a medium). We asked him to honor the price, and he said "nope, mediums probably cost more because, you know extra fabric." Okay, first of all, that's not how clothes work. But to humor him my friend tried on the small and it fit, and we asked to get that one. "Nope (again) all sales are final (he and not told us that). You can't exchange it, for the exact same item for the correct price. You CAN go buy something else for the price difference (not easy to do), so she bought a bracelet and paid more. Such a contrast to the experience I'm accustomed to shopping on Frisco Main Street. NOT a good reflection on our town at all. I will never bring a guest there again. Plenty of other local shops who treat locals and visitors well.
