12/14/25 Instructor Trevor is the BEST!!!
    Michelle V.

Mountain High Winter Sports School is top notch. Super patient and effective instructors. The day I went with my 4 year old, it was a relatively low crowd day and warm (70 F). My daughter's first time on a snowboard and the snow was a success thanks to the skill and professionalism of Instructor Trevor D. Her two hour lesson flew by thanks to his ability to make the activity interesting, low-stakes, and super fun! I highly recommend private lessons for the smaller kids here especially since they are 1:1. On another note, the runs that day were well-groomed and decent conditions for an afternoon. There's a current flex lift ticket deal where for each adult ticket a child ticket is complimentary is a sweet deal. While you do have to pay $30 for main parking lot at West Resort, much of the quality and excellent service has held up. The dirt lot before the main ramp is still free. You just have to walk up the hill or take the stairs.

This was my first visit to Mt. High this year, and I have to say I was a little disappointed. I came on a busy Saturday right after back-to-back SoCal storms, so I expected the resort to be packed -- and it was -- but it honestly didn't feel prepared for the crowd. One of the most-used lifts on the west side wasn't working, which caused a lot of congestion. Traffic getting into the resort was rough, and the transport buses from the east to west parking lots weren't operating. There was no announcement about this, so my friends ended up walking from east to west parking, which was frustrating. On top of that, we experienced a fireplace being out of gas. They eventually got it lit, but by that time it was late, really cold, and we were about to head out because our lift tickets had expired. Overall, the resort has potential, but I felt unprepared for the crowd and the logistics were poorly communicated. Hopefully, they can improve operations and better handle busy days in the future.

Such a good ski resort! The lift tickets are still pricey but much cheaper compared to Big Bear/Snow Summit. There's a lot of open space, decent food and bev options, and seating for the usual crowd. I visited during President's Day Weekend and was surprised at the crowd turnout. I went to Big Bear in January and felt like a sardine squished in crowds all day. The online ordering was also very easy and lockers are super accessible. My only recommendation is to come before opening so you can get a spot at the West Resort and don't have to take the shuttle to the East Resort. Parking is $20 cash/card which isn't terrible.

Everything we experienced, from the lift passes, rentals and lodge were great. Employees we encountered were very friendly and super helpful. The whole experience was great

I have just been there today (1/22/23). And WOW!!! It was sooo busy. Parking was full, before and after the resort, the road were flooded with cars. Although I didn't see skiers and snowboarders, I saw kids sledding and more kids coming to join them. I saw some merchants selling their food along the road and they were all over. For me, that's not bad as long as they are allowed. As I am sure the food prices inside the resort are very high. I would definitely come back when it isn't busy. I took pictures and we just drove around a little bit.

We only went up the ski lift and did the tubing but I heard they have skiing as well snowboarding possibilities. The ski lift to the top was beautiful and relaxing. It's of course colder on the top but they offer warm drinks and food at the top. The view is impressive and it was such a perfect day. The tubing on the other hand I would say needs more organization so that it moved faster. The two lines, one to get the tube and one to go up the hill seemed repetitive and unnecessary. If you have a line to just move the tubes up the hill so that people just go up one hill and that's all makes the lines go faster and people would move faster. Enjoying the tubing experience is what you're paying for but we took one hour from start to finish and it made us not want to go again. So yes, that's my only complaint about the whole experience.

Initially getting to the rental location had a full lot so we had to park at the lower location and take the shuttle up which ate into the amount of time for skiing and snowboard. What would've helped a little for my noob experience of understanding which of the three lifts went to which elevation which my dumb soul went to medium difficulty without realizing it on rented skis with zero knowledge of how to ski so I had a bad time even with future cousin in law trying to teach me. End up getting rescued by a snow mobile staff! God bless you sir lol! Was about to continue walking down the slope from the middle of the mountain. Ended up switching to snowboarding because I'd had one previous experience snowboarding which thank goodness this place allows for one switch and that switch of gear made the difference in overall experience with enjoyment. I was able to relearn snowboarding on the carpet ramp up to the kiddie slope and then get a few good runs on the easy snowflake lift 3 before calling it a day. Note to newcomers: Right side carpet is best to start, then to the left of that slightly up the slope is lift 3 which is the easy slopes. So the difficulty as it stands is from the right to left is easiest to hardest which is also lowest elevation from the right to the left is the highest elevation.

Their customer service is horrible. Their employees are rude and unhelpful!! The snow conditions are terrible this season. They should not be open! Their prices went up season 25 even though the snow conditions were horrible. Overall, I give this place a 2.5 out of 10. Drive a little more, and you'll find yourself up in Big Bear with better snow conditions.

It was my first time here and my first-time skiing too. Overall I had a good time, and I had fun. The place is not prepared much if you ski off the snow; there are no wall, some trees has blankets around, some doesn't. Even I saw a hole in the area that was just covered with red net like that can stop anyone... The instructor we had was helpful but got into an argument with my friend; while I understood her frustration, she acted childish, and there was no need for all that. Lastly, they tied my boots so tight that I got blisters on my hill! When I told the girl, it kind of hurt, and she told me it was normal and added that I could break my ankle if it were loose. Of course, I was scared to break my ankle so I bared the pain for 5 hours... Next time ill do my boots myself.

Ski Lesson with Tanya! You're the best!
    Lauren M.

Had the absolute best experience this past weekend at Mt High taking a ski lesson with our amazing instructor Tanya (go gators!) Tanya and all of the instructor staff were not only extremely welcoming but friendly and encouraging during our two hour lesson. We had only skied once before with no formal lesson so wanted to really learn the fundamentals and improve. Tanya was SO encouraging and patient with us every step of the way. She truly made our day and we had the best time! Thank you to the Mt. High staff for making our day one to remember!

    Long lines as usual

Been coming here for more than 20 years now. A lot of things have changed here over that period, namely the ticketing system and the prices, but some things still remain the same. Mountain High boasts itself as the closest ski resort in LA with no nausea inducing mountain driving. You can't debate that. What it can also dubiously claim is that it has the longest lines as well. That hasn't changed one bit. Got here to the East Resort on a day before new year's and as expected, it was crowded. They have an online ticketing system now where you can purchase a ticket and redeem the lift card at a kiosk at the resort. No more waiting in line to get your lift passes. Here's the rub, though: it appears that they oversell tickets because it always is way too crowded here. So, you are going to be waiting no matter what. This has been a problem for years. Compounding the issue is that since they now charge an absurd $20 for parking, some just park outside the resort and on the shoulder. Good luck getting an ambulance through that mess quickly. We arrived at 8 a.m. as the site says it opened at 8:30. Got in the long line like we were supposed to. By the time we got off the lift for our first run of the day, it was 10:15 already. Why did it take so long? First, the staff was still busy scraping the snow off of the only lift running, the quad, while people were waiting in line. So the line just kept building and building. Additionally, they were loading up drinks and beer onto the lift to get it up to the top lodge. Now, why couldn't they have done that before opening? Why do it when the resort is already open and people have already paid the 100-plus dollars for a ticket? A guy in line was voicing his complaint to one of the ski patrol staff standing around. What was the staffer's incredulous reply? "Wah, wah, wah!" Really professional, dude. How about you just apologize for cutting into our ski time for starters instead of thumbing your nose at all of us? Once we got on the lift, there was about a 15-minute delay a quarter of the way up. This was an occuring theme throughout the day as the lift would suddenly stop on every ride - sometimes for a couple minutes and other times longer. There's a few reasons why this happens, and most are unavoidable (someone spills at the end, maintenance issues, etc.). But what is troubling is the amount of people taking rides down the lift with no skis or boards. Some were even toddlers and their parents going up for a joy ride it seems. This is a big reason why the lifts slow down. It's because they have to load up the non skiers! Why are they even allowing that? It disrupts the flow! Also, nobody monitors the turnstiles. Obviously, that can be a good and bad thing. Anyway, I'm glad Mountain High isn't the only resort in socal. There are other options like Mt. Baldy and Big Bear that run things more efficiently.

All these years, I have put off coming to Mountain High to snowboard because of all the inferior reviews from friends and online forums. However, upon spending the day here, I actually enjoyed it more than the Big Bear Resort. The drive to this location was so much easier: no winding roads! We live in West LA and were able to get there in less than 2 hours (so you could easily make a day trip here and go back home on the same day!). There was plenty of parking and if the main resort's parking was full, there's a parking lot 1 mile away and you could take the shuttle to the resort! Additionally, I have read somewhere that the snow tends to be thin here and that it's very icy . Admittedly, when we were there, the snow wasn't thick, but it was definitely not icy! In terms of difficulty, I thought the beginner friendly tracks were enjoyable. The more advanced tracks were also clearly labeled as "not for beginners". As for the lift tickets and equipment rentals, I suggest you do that online and then make sure to keep your tickets for future visits ($10 discount per person if you keep the used tickets; they are rechargeable). Overall, I definitely recommend Mountain High Resort if you don't want to deal with long drives and don't mind the thin snow (you'll still be able to enjoy skiing or snowboarding here regardless!).

Ask the Community - Mountain High Resort

I bought the season pass plus rental equipment, does that include the boots and helmet?

Im sure it is. Its. Noted rental equipment.we were kist there 2 weeks ago. Boots 30 dollars. I didnt rent the helmet got my own. But if u prefer if might as well buy snowboots and helmet since there somewhat less pricy now for next season. Thats…

Is snow play, tupping, sleding still open untill? How to check road conditioner for chain required?

Yes, Snow Play is now available weekends through March. Please click here to learn more. https://www.mthigh.com/site/mountain/events-and-activities/yeti-snow-play

    Is there snowmobile rentals here?

I saw one but From my own understanding its only for staff users

Is the snow/playing an tubing open for this weekend?

Yes, the Yeti's Snow Play at Mountain High is open 7 days a week through Jan 7th then Thursday - Monday for the next several months. Hope to see you soon.

Is snow play/ tubing/ sledding still open for this season? I was hoping to come the weekend of April 21/22. Also, is it lift serviced?

Thanks for asking. No...unfortunately, snow play has ended for the season at Mountain High. The mountain is still open for skiing & snowboarding though and lessons are available until closing weekend. See you in the snow.

Is there free access to the snow? My kids just want to see/touch snow for a few hours, was wondering if I can just pay for parking and play in the snow without purchasing the Snow Play / Yeti tickets. Thanks

You can park on the side of the road and your kids can play on the snow. Bring some sled too.

What kind of shoe is required? Do they rent shoe here?

Not sure about "required". My snowboard boot size is 0.5 + my regular shoe size. But sure, they rent here. Usually long lines though (Sat 8am).

What's there to do if you're not playing in the snow? Anywhere comfortable to lounge, stay warm, and be entertained? Are the indoor areas are open? Thanks for the input

In Mt High West, there's Bullwheel Bar & Grill (indoors) and a beer bar (outdoors). You can socialize and relax while watching ppl have fun. As for Mt High East, there seemed to be souvenir shops (indoors).

For the Snow Play. If both adults are buying a full day pass, do we need to buy one our 5 year old as well or would he be free?

no the 5 year old would need a pass as well.

Mountain high still gives the birthday free lift ticket?

    Lol

Is the Yeti area what used to be North Resort or are they different?

No, the Yeti's Snow Play is a much bigger snow play operation at the base of our East Resort. We are no longer using the North Resort for tubing or snow play.

Does snow play include tubing and sledding?

There are areas for that as well

I have an electric vehicle not sure I can make it there and back. Do you have car charging?

No, I'm afraid we don't have electric charging stations yet but we plan to next season. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Is Mountain High open this Sunday, 3/15/2020? We ask b/c Mammoth is closed. Thanks!

We were planning to ski at Big Bear on Monday but just got notice it will be close due to virus. As…

Does anyone know of coupons for a Friday?

I don't know about Friday's, but we did get a good deal thought Groupon last year. Good luck 👍🏻

How much is it for only snow tubing? We don't snowboard or ski so do we pay for the rate for snowboarding?

You don't go tubing here. They don't offer it.

    Are dogs allowed?

There is a sign that says they must be on a leash when are on the property, but I would call the operator to be sure.

How much are the tickets for snow play ? Does it include sledding? Or tubing?

At the Yeti's Snow Play we offer a Snow Play ticket for $30 or an All Activities ticket for $79 which includes tubing, sledding, snow play and one scenic sky chair ride. Please see here for details…

    Is there snow right now?

Tons. For tubing it was great and for snow play it was so deep it was hard to walk in. Speaking for NORTH RESORT

Are all of the Yeti's Snow Parks the same? Is tubing "lower intensity" at any of them?

Great question. We only have one Yeti's Snow Play area, now at our East Resort. We offer tubing, sledding, snow play and scenic sky chair rides. All are low intensity with tubing being the most exciting.

First, in the hot summer, the notch could really be a nice cool escape, except that the chairlift up is so expensive. I know they must do some calculation of what they need to take in to keep operating, but I also know that I would go there, pay for the chair lift, and eat at the notch much more if the lift tickets were $15 or lower, rather than $25 and up even with a coupon. And I'm just one person. This seems prohibitively high for many families. At $15 or lower (plus my seasonal park pass) and whatever lunch and drinks cost, I'd go there (and bring all my visitors) at least once a month. As it is, I go at least once a month in the spring and fall hiking seasons and don't go in the summer much at all. However, I do encourage families for a once in a while splurge to take the chair lift up with the kids, hike around, and have lunch at the notch. It's a great experience! I did the tubbing once long ago and although I don't think it's worth it for adults, I do think it would be fun for kids. I've never skied there, so I can't speak to that feature. All that being said, I love this place. I love taking the chair lifts up the hill and looking out on the scenery. I love hiking from the notch, particularly up Telegraph. I love having a drink with lunch or early dinner at the Notch. It's really fun to see a band there in the evenings. I hope through the years this place thrives.

There are also numerous pine trees throughout that provide shade and a relaxing sound with the wind. I loved the nature part of this camp, and loved that there was even a walking trail traversing the perimeter of the grounds. The campsites are well spaced out for the most part as the campground is pretty big. Some sites are on the perimeter of the camp (best sunset views) and some on the inner part of the camp such as our campsite on site 83. Our site was near a bathroom which was very clean with no stench upon arrival. We also were near a water spout which had drinking water but per the host doesn't have the best taste (so I would recommend bringing your own water if you're sensitive to that). The host that came by was very nice and proactive in telling us about not just the campground but also the area around. First off he offered us firewood for purchase that he had in the back of the truck which was a nice gesture. He also told us about a lake nearby for fishing called Jackson lake which we went to & also about the town which are all about 10 mins away. The town is small and quaint but cute! The lake is small but beautiful and perfect for a picnic. Overall our group thoroughly enjoyed this place and we will be back :)
