Save your money. Come early, take any tables regardless if you paid for reservation. First come first serve. Park rangers are incompetent and conflict-averse. They will not move you from a spot once you've set up so do don't waste your money to reserve. Perfect spot is on top of the hill, get it before anyone arrives!!!! read more

This park is simply amazing !! It's a very scenic park with views of the lake everywhere you look to the left. Their little Picnic tables are full equipped with bbq frills !! If you go in the giant gazebo it has a full bbq which is great for the whole family plus your getting shade !! Just don't forget your tables and chairs. My kids enjoyed this playground and they also have a couple water spouts for the kids to play in and get wet. I ran through it myself lol it's perfect on a hot summer day. My husband really enjoyed this park my cuñado and his wife also loves it. Again it's a beautiful park and it's extremely clean I love that ! I'll be visiting this park again soon. read more

This park become popular during the4th of July as it's one of the prime location to watch fireworks in Eastlake from then Olympic Training Center. This place is very special to me because the person who approved the building plans for this park and worked on this project with it's developers was a friend of mine and he recently passed away so coming out here and standing at the top of the amphitheatre to overlook the lake has special meaning for me. It's a great place for kids to play, to sit and read a book, to walk or ride a bike on it's trails. This park is a perfect setting for family pinics, workouts, or just to get outside. The lake located right across from here expands the various things to do while here. There is a basketball court, a playground, and a jogging/walking trail located on the premises. Its very well maintained. There are also bbq grills, gazebos with tables, and plentiful parking on the street or on the lot in the park. For the South Bay area I'd say this is easily the nicest park compared to the likes of Rohr Park. Its not the largest in size but it is a good sized park regardless with plenty of room for activities (for example there was a boot camp workout going on the day we came here for a family party and there was still a lot of space for everyone). If you are having a party here and run out of supplies Otay Lakes Road is right around the corner and so are your supermarkets and Rite Aide's. read more

Beautiful park overlooking the lake. I recently moved to the area and have been astonished by the amount of parks in the southbay. This one really stands out. A sprawling park that sits on the outskirts of the lake and plenty of area to have pets run around or even host a basketball or football game. They have a new set of townhomes overlooking the park and lake that I will be looking into shortly. Mountain Hawk Park is one of Chula Vista's coolest. Rumor has it, the design is the result of a contest held by the city. Neat! The park sits atop a hill above Otay Lake. Beautiful views of the lake. Facilities abound here. A couple wide, flat fields for futbol or football. Clean restrooms. A fountain installed in the ground, across which the kiddies can run when its hot. Two nifty playgrounds, too. The parking lot gets locked at night, but you can park on the street. I've stayed to watch the moon rise above the mountains east of Otay Lake. Its good times. read more

This is one of my favorite parks, especially in this area. They have a nice jogging/walking trail that is approximately 1.5 miles from the park around the street and back, which is great even with a stroller (mind you I have a Britax which holds well on the gravel). It's a nice trail because the back trail is away from traffic and has a nice view of the Otay Reservoir. There is a splash area which is available May-October which is really convenient during the summer. The slide area is rather small but does the job and makes it easier for me to keep an eye on my son while having to care for a newborn at the same time. There is large amounts of grass space to play football/soccer/etc or to set up an area to lay out. There is a basketball court as well which stays well lit even when the sun goes down. There are 3 areas where you can reserve for a fee (residents receive a discount compared to non-residents). There is ample parking either in the lot or in the street. The park is nice and clean. It's very dog friendly, offering poop bags throughout the park. It's always a good place to exercise and take the kids at the same time. read more

One of the nicer parks in Eastlake. You have a beautiful view of the lake during the day. At night, you get a lot of wild rabbits (there's a rabbit statue there -- perhaps it's their idol). I come here for Pokémon Go, and they have 2 Pokémon Gyms and around 8 to 10 Pokestops (don't remember). Nice area for picnics, very family & friends oriented, well-maintained, and I feel like even though the park closes at 10 PM, the lights are on for an ideal safety. One star off because since there's a lake nearby, there are many mosquitoes and gnats (so put on insect repellent, eat lots of onions/garlic or cover yourselves as much as possible). There may be raccoons and possums digging around the trash cans for food, and usually really dark places people tend to smoke weed and are loud & obnoxious about it. read more

I can't say much else that other Yelpers haven't already mentioned...but if you are looking for a relaxing afternoon, take a book out to Mountain Hawk Park, and sit and enjoy the scenery. We always go to Mountain Park annually for my daughter's end of the year party with her middle school and high school friends. The park is big enough for a lot of families having parties. The 3 gazebos is huge enough to accommodate big crowd and the grass area is huge! It's good for dogs too!! There's a paddle pool that kids enjoy and basketball for father and son bonding or friends and families. I love this park! read more

The park is nice, with big open field. The only thing I can complain about is not having electric power available when I reserved the cabana. Called the office and was told that they don't offer the option of using electricity . Reservation is from 7-10 pm, so I guess we just just go home when it gets dark before 10 when I PAID to use this until 10 pm. There's an outlet but it's locked. Not sure if the installed light will automatically turn on after dark. I'll provide an update .. UPDATE.. the lights in the gazebo turned on automatically, but barely enough for the gazebo .. had to secure at around 7:30pm... read more

This is a great park for photo ops. It has the lake, mountains and a really serene feel to it. I had my group photo shoot here and all the parents were loving the scenery. So far the best park for doing yoga and actually everything else. Overlooking the lake and hills, you get fresh air and serenity, just perfect for meditation. It's clean and I feel SAFE! This is "my" park~ where I instantly go when I want reprieve after work, when I need to think or go away from any argument at home. This park gives me peace, fresh air, calming view of the lower Otay Lakes below. I would sit at the lone gazebo and look below, watch some kayakers from the nearby Olympic Training Center paddle in rhythmm or look up at the mountains almost touched by clouds. And I get peace. CLEAN, WELL MAINTAINED, WONDERFUL VIEW. I would give this park a perfect 5 but because every time I have tried to use the water fountains for dogs they never seem to be working. This is an awesome park for the whole family. In my opinion, one of the best parks in Chula Vista, CA! For starters as you have your barbeque or picnic, you will love the view of Otay Lakes and the local mountains. Next, there is a free water play/park area for the kids (usually operational in the summer), a playground, basketball courts, a HUGE open field for playing kickball, softball, baseball or soccer. There are also trails for hiking or mountain bike riding. Are you into fishing, yup, you can do that too. And yes, there are a couple of good size gazebo's that can be rented in advanced.
