The walking trail from Otay Lakes back to Salt Creek Recreation Center

A MULTIFACETED OASIS: NATURE, CULTURE, AND RECREATION UNITE I walk through this park twice weekly from Salt Creek Recreation Center. And every time I see a different sunset, smell a new plant, and see various people. It's amazing to observe the melting pot of cultures enjoying the same beauty. The open scenery with no building obstructions provides a breathtaking backdrop for a serene escape. This setting also allows for fantastic open space, perfect for photography enthusiasts looking to capture the beauty of nature. What struck me most was the park's dedication to showcasing indigenous influence throughout the parks stone artifacts. It is a respectful honor of the area's history. It's worth mentioning that the park promotes responsible wildlife interaction, reminding visitors that rabbits are for seeing, not hunting. This respect for nature extended to the well-maintained walking and jogging trails that wind through the landscape, allowing for both leisurely strolls and invigorating runs. The park's crowning jewel was its beautiful lake and majestic mountains that provides a picturesque backdrop for relaxation and contemplation. This calm environment is recommended as an wellness break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. For those seeking an active outing, the extensive space can easily accommodated family bbq's, parties, soccer matches, and volleyball games, making it an ideal spot for a fun-filled day with friends and family. In my opinion, this park truly stands out as a harmonious blend of natural beauty, cultural appreciation, and recreational opportunities. Whether you're looking for a relaxed time or an active outing, it offers something for everyone to enjoy. I had been here a few times during Covid because the park was empty, it was huge scenic viewing with a lot of hiking trails and a giant lake, so you can explore the wild life and get your steps in for the day, I really miss my dog coming here.

STUNNING scenery! It's like being in a desktop background or computer wallpaper. Massive green space with unobstructed panoramic views of the lake and mountains. Serene and lovely. Fantastic place to hang out and/or exercise!

Mountain Hawk is such a beautiful park. Overlooking Otay Lake there are Plenty of open fields, jogging trails, a splash pad and playground for for the little ones. One of my favorite places to bring my dog for a jog or the kids to burn off some energy.

This park is simply amazing !! It's a very scenic park with views of the lake everywhere you look to the left. Their little Picnic tables are full equipped with bbq frills !! If you go in the giant gazebo it has a full bbq which is great for the whole family plus your getting shade !! Just don't forget your tables and chairs. My kids enjoyed this playground and they also have a couple water spouts for the kids to play in and get wet. I ran through it myself lol it's perfect on a hot summer day. My husband really enjoyed this park my cuñado and his wife also loves it. Again it's a beautiful park and it's extremely clean I love that ! I'll be visiting this park again soon.

Can't beat looking at the lake during a break!!

This place is very special to me because the person who approved the building plans for this park and worked on this project with it's developers was a friend of mine and he recently passed away so coming out here and standing at the top of the amphitheatre to overlook the lake has special meaning for me. It's a great place for kids to play, to sit and read a book, to walk or ride a bike on it's trails. Take a moment and read the plaques that are on the columns, you'll actually learn something while you're here also!!

Right up the street. Feel so blessed to live in this area, so close to nature. To be able to see the Lake and the mountains in the background, this is a great park to bring the kids to, as well as animals.

This park is a perfect setting for family pinics, workouts, or just to get outside. The lake located right across from here expands the various things to do while here. There is a basketball court, a playground, and a jogging/walking trail located on the premises. Its very well maintained. There are also bbq grills, gazebos with tables, and plentiful parking on the street or on the lot in the park. For the South Bay area I'd say this is easily the nicest park compared to the likes of Rohr Park. Its not the largest in size but it is a good sized park regardless with plenty of room for activities (for example there was a boot camp workout going on the day we came here for a family party and there was still a lot of space for everyone). If you are having a party here and run out of supplies Otay Lakes Road is right around the corner and so are your supermarkets and Rite Aide's.

Recently rented a gazebo here for my sons graduation party and it was wonderful!! The view..AMAZING!!! My ONLY complaint (and it's a BIG ONE)is this..NO DOORS IN THE BATHROOMS! Why? It's terrible that you can't use the restroom without random people walking by your stall..just makes no sense to have no doors.

Beautiful park overlooking the lake. I recently moved to the area and have been astonished by the amount of parks in the southbay. This one really stands out. A sprawling park that sits on the outskirts of the lake and plenty of area to have pets run around or even host a basketball or football game. They have a new set of townhomes overlooking the park and lake that I will be looking into shortly. That being said if you are looking for a park to walk the dog or for other activities this is a solid choice.

Mountain Hawk Park is terrific. I jog here every morning from and to my house just a few blocks away. It has a nice playground, walking trails, basketball court, a large field (soccer fans), huge gazebos for party peeps, lots of parking and the best thing of all - that amazing view of the lower Otay Lake and the Mount Miguel hills. Absolutely breathtaking.

When I was a kid most Easter's & Birthday parties were here. One park has a pier to fish the other has a loading deck for boats. When I was a teenager I came here as well but not for family gatherings but to hang out with friends. And it's a good spot to bring girls late at night & you know....play BINGO in the back seat :) the first park has alot of parking spots for that. Now that I'm a dad & family man I come again for birthday parties & also just to hang with family to grill & see the low riders on weekends. My favorite reason to come tho is to see the Sunsets with my daughters, have a late picnic, listen to music & just watch the sun set, love it. Me & my family's favorite park in the South Bay hands down. Now with the Gaylord Resort next door the park looks better & is extended.
