Right now the park is being renovated. I'll reserve the right to update my review once it's completed.I will say that if the renovation doesn't include doors on restroom stalls they won't fair so well in my future reviews.

Might be my new favorite park. Nice, clean & people mind their business. I've lived in CV all my life & never knew about this park.

Where I grew up from a young lad to an adult still chilling like a villain with fam in the hood park in National City. Good OL Pepper Park

Man let me tell you about this little park. A little hidden & I mean hidden gem in National City. Alway from the city & the madness this park is one of the better little parks in the South Bay. Been coming to this park for years with my pop & my family. You can bring your boats & fish or fish off the pier, bring your doggies for a walk or have a little party here. Or bring your girl for a late little stroll & take her back to the car & you know, make magical moments. Back in the 80's it was not as nicely kept as it is now. I grew up in this park, from a kid with my family to teenage years with the homies to chill, drink & smoke till my later teen years when I brought girls to chill & have a good time (the parking lot is usually empty later at night) & now with my kids & siblings kids for BBQ's & parties. This park has been good to me & my family. The people here are peaceful never had drama. We get them all here, a park for everyone. You have the Jacksons BBQing the Martinez family grilling Carne Asada & the Wangs cooking up fish & pancit & you can even trade food with them that's how cool it is. The upgrades to this park since the 80's is pretty good, from the upgrades to the restrooms, the grass & the playground are all great. And on weekends you get a ice cream truck making his rounds. Yes there is some homeless people that stay in their car & just go to the restrooms to wash up & fish to eat, invite them over for some tacos & a beer, we do. And the cops do make their rounds every once in awhile so make sure to have your Red Cups ready. The park ain't that big but it's ok for us because well the kids & grandpa won't get lost. Over all I love this little park & will be hitting it up in the summer to fish & grill.

I love this park. You can fish, have the kids play at the park all at the same time. Everyone I come across here are happy family oriented people. There is lots of parking and a loading dock for those who have a boat. But love bringing the kites and fishing polls and the dogs. Beautiful park.

" A Lot of Weird People Stay Here " I went to Pepper Park in National City yesterday to wait for a bus to take a tour of the San Diego Waterfront area. I had never been to this Pepper Park before. The Park is small and has some play ground type equipment for kids to play on. The Men's bathrooms was very dirty, and it was a little scary watching the parking lot, as we were waiting for our bus. Several homeless type people who were obviously living in there cars, were parked in the parking lot with their dogs, cats, etc. Those people would go into the bathrooms with towels, shavers, and other paraphernalia. The Parking lot is also very busy with large trucks carrying boats coming and going all the time, as they use the Marina ramp next to the Park to launch and pickup there boats. Not the kind of Park that I would take my family too.

I usually go here for a quick walk along the bay. Sometimes I will bring my fishing pole to fish. A very relaxing place. They have a boat launch here if you want to take your boat out. They also have a fishing pier here. A small park area if you plan on having a picnic or something. A small playground for young kids. The area is also kept clean by the city of national City. The restrooms here are also kept very clean. I been to most city parks and usually the restrooms are filthy and dirty, not this place. I usually come here around weekdays and always find parking. Not sure how it is here on the weekends. One cool thing is they have a pair of Ospreys near the entrance of the park. The nest looks manmade. I usually see nature photographers here taking pictures of the osprey. Overall another cool city park near the bay.

I loved that there was a half wall / seating structure surrounding half of the splash pad for parents to sit.

3.5/5 As of this review…read more Not perfect-but still a whole vibe. Some parks charge you to play-like Balboa Park. Others feel like they're always under repair-like El Toyon Park. This one? Somewhere in the middle. Came through around 8 PM while waiting on a friend at Paradise Valley Hospital. Just needed a quick walk. There's fencing, signs of construction, and honestly... families still using the playground anyway. That tells you everything. If people are working around closures, access isn't being handled right. But here's what matters: *People are actually using the park. *Families on the playground (fence or not). *Couples walking hand in hand. *People eating dinner solo, just enjoying the night. *Friends posted up talking. *Dog walkers getting their steps in. *And a full volleyball game going-with a group that brought their own net and made it happen. That's when it clicked-this park works because the community makes it work. And there's a lot to work with: *Big, open space (perfect for events, parties, just spreading out) *Clean, paved walking paths that feel good even at night *Updated courts (just bring your own net for now) *Bright playground with slides and wood chips for safety *Plenty of picnic benches (not much shade, but still usable) *Bike racks and scattered seating throughout Spring nights, fresh air, people outside connecting-that's what a park is supposed to be. And even with the construction and limitations, this place is still delivering that. Bottom line: Construction is to be completed by May 2026 "Parks are where people build memories." [Don't delay the re-grand opening ]

I have seem more homeless leaving trash around. People with their unleashed dogs, dog poop in the grass. The "playground" in the field side is unusable they have let this park go. They only left the baby slide and swings. The bathrooms are always locked and the bathrooms at the field side are so disgusting, graffiti everywhere. It has become more of a hang out point for homeless. I really hope they fix this park!

We decided to visit this location to get a nice low impact walk as a workout. The weather forecast…read moresaid that rain was expected so it was a quick 30-35min walk that we planned. When we approached the location, there was a co-Ed little league team ending their evening practice. There were about 5-7 cars of families packing up from the field and departing the lot. The parking lot can hold about 35-40 parked cars, with 2-3 handicap parking spots as well. The field is used by many weekend adult soccer players so Saturday and Sunday is normally jammed packed starting at 7am and ending about 6p. There are cars that line the streets in the neighborhood during this time. This recreational center is a very popular spot for little league games, adult soccer on weekends, the Neighborhood Festivals, birthday parties, recreation center clubs, and school break camps. The indoor space is rented to martial arts classes, birthday parties, baby showers, sports banquets, and other private events. The indoor space can hold about 40-50 people when they setup events. There is a half basketball court on the side of this recreational center but it is not marked up as a half court. It just has plain cement as a court, balls can be checked out from the staff when they are open. For Easter and other holidays they sometimes have special events that the City of SD Parks & Recreation Dept hosts, with our tax dollars, and they are great for the kids in the area. I especially like to see the "Teen Nights" as they offer at risk youth an opportunity to participate in meaningful and positive events. There is also free WiFi here. Overall, great location to take a walk on the field and nice place for little ones to play in the smaller playground.
