This park is not quite fully fenced it has two openings to walk in that are not gated. There is also no shade over the play structure itself so that could get hot in the summer. There is no bathroom and not a ton of parking, I've also seen one homeless person here before but that's lower than average for parks in this region. Overall a very nice park. If there was a bathroom or the fence had gates I think I'd give it 5 stars.

Community Parks create memories for birthdays, holding hands, kickball, learning to ride the bike and sometimes relaxing under the sun. By the way this is a good park to learn to roller skate. Montgomery Waller is surrounded by homes, near schools, the community library, senior housing and actual vibrant neighborhoods. It is quite a beautiful layout of this park. From a couple of baseball fields, full on outdoor basketball courts, paved walkways and walking trails, and play areas. It's a lot of land. If you can't social distance here, then there's a problema. As you walk the unmarked course around the park you may see cheerleaders practicing, litte league baseball, Pop Warner football, AYSO soccer, father's pushing baby carriages, celebration of birthdays and dog walkers. I really enjoy how this park is elderly friendly and safe. The paved walkways is very clean and flat and no cracks, crevices or unleveled ground. There are several manageable inclines and declines. If I was too start a walking or running club I would train at this park. In fact, I see groups doing yoga, tai-chi and cartwheels. It's biiiig. There are two areas of play structures that will likely become boring after a couple of times because expansion needs to happen. The rec center where classes are offered is atop the hill and classes are usually free. I saw Zumba having a blast. Also, there are dog poop bag boxes which offer free bags. Don't let your dog poop on the paved clean walkway. The cons to this park are a few: Limited toilets. I saw one outhouse, and two single toilets in this big park. I guess because this neighborhood is 90% diverse, perhaps they don't use toilets. I guess. Cause this is ignorant for this space to not have real toilets around the entire Park area. The other con, is the walkway should be marked with mileage markers. Parking is available in the lots or around the park. I come here once a week and enjoy it a lot. It is mostly an unshaded park from morning to evening. It's not impossible to find shade but it is a task. Bring your umbrella and/or canopy. You will thank me later. Absolutely, I would recommend this park if you are near the area. Would I make a special trip? Ummm, probably because it is a best kept secret; many people don't know it exists. If you're a trainer or have an exercise class or meet up outdoor meditation, this is a perfect place to do it.

Adjacent to the Chula Vista Marina, Yacht Club, and an RV park. There are sculptures, playgrounds, picnic tables, gazebos, fishing piers, an exercise station, and the Bayshore bikeway path. If you accidentally end up spending the day here, have no fear because there are public restrooms here! The kids used to love to walk along the bay and play in the sand, or feed the many birds that flock here. It's definitely worth a visit if you are in town.

When I was a kid most Easter's & Birthday parties were here. One park has a pier to fish the other has a loading deck for boats. When I was a teenager I came here as well but not for family gatherings but to hang out with friends. And it's a good spot to bring girls late at night & you know....play BINGO in the back seat :) the first park has alot of parking spots for that. Now that I'm a dad & family man I come again for birthday parties & also just to hang with family to grill & see the low riders on weekends. My favorite reason to come tho is to see the Sunsets with my daughters, have a late picnic, listen to music & just watch the sun set, love it. Me & my family's favorite park in the South Bay hands down. Now with the Gaylord Resort next door the park looks better & is extended. I feel bad about leaving negative feedback on a FREE park, of all things. But I felt that the space…read morewas unsafe and dirty, so based on my recent impressions, I don't recommend this hike. We arrived before 8AM so the parking lots at the staging areas still had their gates closed. We parked on Hollister, around a block before Main. It did not look like there were any parking restrictions. So we started the hike on the western side of the park, which based on prior Yelp reviews, probably is not the best area to hike. As we progressed through the hike, we headed past multiple tents (unclear if seeing a portion of a homeless encampment or just scattered tents). We got startled by someone who seemed to materialize suddenly outside a tent into the trail. But what made us leave the area was an individual who was yelling angrily and cursing heading toward us. Maybe he was just not a morning person, but we clearly couldn't go any further. Other issues: Each dog we came across was an unleashed dog. The owners would be far behind, so the first two times, I thought they were wild dogs and was not certain of their friendliness. As an avid hiker, this does not seem to be the usual hiking etiquette. Trail is clearly demarcated and paved, but it seemed to have squashed piles of poo versus mud. Initially we went in the wrong direction and went under a dark bridge (see photo, which makes it look less ominous than it actually was). I think this direction actually does take people on a specific trail, but this one was not part of the 8mi out-and-back hike we were planning. If you end up here, you likely took a wrong turn. As we walked, I felt that the park smelled like eucalyptus mixed with something not so pleasant. Not sure what it was, but we had to switch frequently to mouth -breathing, which is not a typical problem I have during hikes. It was meant to be an 8mi hike but we turned back early because we did not feel very comfortable after being possibly chased so ended up just completing 1.6mi. Again, I hate to criticize parks, especially such a large natural space in a sea of urbanity. But this was not a fun hike, and I will never return unless the area becomes less unwelcoming.

If you are near Chula Vista, it is great having a nature trail within a few miles from Downtown CV. First of all, it's a misnomer to call it a park. It is a four mile hiking path, so expect to walk eight miles if you want to do the full length since it is one way. Its endpoints are near Highway 5 and 805. The western canyon section is my favorite. You walk parallel to the river with a view of Otay Mountain in the distance. It has dense fauna so you forget about the houses above you and the glimpses of the main road. The trail is not well marked, but it is pretty straight and level so you can't really get lost. On the western portion there are paths that crisscross. The fire utility access road on a higher plain, the "main" path, and a segway closer to the river. It is mixed surfaces varying between sandy loam, gravel, and small loss rock. You can make it with sneakers, but I prefer hiking boots . In contrast, the western portion is a bit like an apocalyptic movie set. Personally I wouldn't go pass Fenton Pond. As I reached towards the Imperial Beach border, there were underpass sections with some sketchy folks. I came across a few tents and a zombie like woman with her long hair covering her face. The path shares a section with Bella Terra nursery, which makes spruces up the barren landscape but there was an overwhelming smell of fertilizer. There is a constant hum of traffic and the nearby trolley. Since it is near urban centers, you will find graffiti and garbage anywhere by main roads. There are multiple entry points, but unless you are local they are not easy to find. I recommend starting at the ranger station on Beyer Blvd. with a parking lot and good signage. If you are within thirty minute drive, I would recommend visiting this "park." My last tip is to cross the street from the parking lot in lieu of looping around the underpass.

The gazebo is rented at $353+ and you will also be charged with a security deposit (refundable). The food gets cold very quickly. No candles or food warming element can stay lit as the wind keeps blowing them out. Table cloths are flying over the food, etc. All decorations are blown away. Terrible terrible experience. All of our efforts preparing were wasted. No electricity as it turned out it's a separate request in advance and additional fee. So what I suggest is before making a reservation, visit the park first and see for yourself. I wish we read the reviews first.

Such a good time!!…read more ​This is a newly renovated park that is perfect for families! The pirate-themed play structures are super cool, and the kids absolutely enjoyed running and climbing. There are plenty of activities to choose from, including a splash pad, sand play, a huge grassy area for running or flying kites, kayaking, and fishing. There is also plenty of shade for both kids and adults at the picnic tables, but there's also enough room to bring your own pop-up tent if you want. I did see porta-potties on-site. I am hoping they are just there temporarily for a restroom renovation, but no one in our group needed to use them, so I didn't get close enough to see if there were any signs posted. ​ The parking lot has plenty of space for a normal day at the park. I imagine if there is a big event or multiple birthday parties going on it could get full, but it was fine for us. ​The park was incredibly clean, and my kids had a blast playing with the other children. No bullies or mean kid vibes at all, so shoutout to the parents! We will definitely be back and will come even more prepared with props to play next time.
