Tea

We came here for a quick pick me up and were not disappointed. My mom got a bag of coffee and a cinnamon latte with dairy free creamer. I got the Blackberry daydream chai and it was amazing. The lemon cold foam is perfect with the chai, it tastes like a pie in a cup. The barista was friendly and helpful and answered all the questions we had about mountain coffee house. The ambiance was cozy coffee house vibes. I really enjoyed sitting down and chatting with my mom and friend. We will be back to try something else, perhaps the Changa

Birdy Bagel and Iced Latte

Cute little coffee house not far off the highway with a very welcoming, cozy modern cabin ambience. Large menu, featuring tons of coffee options as well as teas and other fun beverages. They offer a good variety of creative bagels and sandwiches, as well as fun pastries. I ordered the birdy bagel and an iced latte with vanilla and hazelnut syrup. Both were quite delicious and well executed. Staff was friendly and focused taking orders correctly. I'll definitely be returning when I am in this area again!

The flowers we bought

Had a lil breakfast date with my sister, it's a cute lil space to grab a small bite and a drink. I had a lavender latte and it was delicious. For food I had a blt, it was good but ended up being pretty messy with grease running down my hands. It was very fulfilling. We definitely enjoyed our time here and on the way out there's some flowers from another local business that you can pick a fresh bouquet. Super cute idea.

Nutella Mocha and Spinach & Feta Stuffed Pretzel

Solid drink, well made, tastes not overly sweet. The stuffed pretzel is really tasty, but I would love it if it came out a tab bit hotter

Breakfast bagel and caramel macchiato

This place is SO cute!! We came the Saturday before Mother's Day and they had a little sign that said they were understaffed and to be patient. However, they were super quick and we got our coffee and food rather quickly! So I can only imagine how fast they are when they've got everyone working :) I ordered the caramel macchiato and asked if they could make it on the sweeter side, as I like my coffee sweeter. They said no problem and made it perfect!! It was so good! After getting home to Bakersfield I found myself craving another! I also ordered the breakfast bagel with sausage. Delicious! Their sausage was so good! Slightly spicy but very juicy. My friend tried it and said it was really good too! They also had farm fresh eggs available on the counter for purchase from a farm in the area! I would absolutely be back if I'm in Tehachapi again. Love this spot!

Hair in grapes

11/10/2025 ~10:30am Around this time last year, we met one of the owners (or the owner's husband) of this coffee shop at another spot in Tehachapi. He was super nice and welcoming, especially since we were new to the area, and told us to check this place out. Since then, I've come by a few times and always had great experiences, friendly employees, amazing food, and good vibes all around. It's even become my go to spot to bring friends and family when they visit. Unfortunately, today's visit was really disappointing and honestly kind of embarrassing. When we walked in, we took a minute to look at the menu and decided to try something from the fall specials. As we went up to order, the employee at the register (Leah) rolled her eyes at us. My friend asked a few questions about drinks and milk alternatives, and the employee's attitude was so off-putting that my friend decided to skip the drink altogether and just order food. Watching the interaction was uncomfortable. Leah came across as annoyed and aggressive, like she didn't want to be there. When it was my turn to order, I tried to keep it quick, but after everything I said she'd respond with, "What else, guys?" in a really dismissive tone, like we were bothering her or taking too long. The food itself actually tasted really good, just like it always does, but it was hard to enjoy it after the experience we had ordering. We ended up spending around $60, and to top it off, there was a hair wrapped around the grapes that came with our food and my friend's sandwich wasn't what the menu described. I've never seen this employee before, so maybe she was having a bad day, but it completely changed the experience for us. I normally don't leave reviews, but this one really needed to be addressed because it was so different from the great service I've had here in the past.

Turkey ciabatta

Love it. Got the turkey ciabatta. Nice and hot when it came out. Full of flavor. Got a Frappuccino with rose and lavender. Also good! The girls were very friendly. Place was clean and nice in the inside. Will be back.

Caramel Iced Latte

This was so good I had to download yelp and leave a good review . The pesto avocado toast is actually the best thing I've had at a small cafe. Service is super nice and ambiance is on point.

Great stop for some hometown charm.

Great local stop. One of my most favorite home town pop ins. The coffee is great the presentation even better. We had the Campfire Mocha today and it is so dang cute!!!! Taste is ooff the charts. Service is exceptional. I am having a grilled cheese today and we got a ham ciabata. The food is top notch. The only downside is if you don't come check it out yourself!!

Gabe is wonderful! I was super indecisive about my beverage. He asked lots of questions and wanted to make sure I had the perfect drink. I appreciate his time

Love this place. They know their craft far better than most and I recommend them over any large coffee chain.

Tuesday, March 10th, we traveled to Bakersfield to pick up a vehicle I had purchased, and of course had to stop by Kohnen's. My wife and I split a Tuna and Cheddar Panini, and a loaded Turkey (we arrived too late for Sourdough!!). It is difficult to walk away without a mini-pie (try them all, but blackberry is freaking amazing!!). As always, Danelle was there with her typical congeniality and work ethic! We love her!! And I got to tell her about her doppelgänger in a restaurant in Yucaipa!! They do exist!! In summary, eat at Kohnen's!! Say hi to Danelle!

I visited Kohnen's Bakery Tehachapi yesterday with my family, and this was honestly one of the…read moreworst customer service experiences I've ever had. I only purchased two items -- one cream puff and one slice of cheesecake -- but the cashier charged my card THREE times due to repeated mistakes. Here's exactly what happened: 1) My first card (Card A) was charged $11.20. The cashier asked me if I wanted a receipt, and I said yes. Then she told me the receipt didn't come out because the transaction "didn't go through," and asked me to provide my card again. 2) I gave the same card again, and this time she charged $11.69. 3) Then again, she told me that it didn't go through, so I used a different debit card (Card B), which was charged $11.20. While sitting at the table with my family, I immediately checked my bank account and thought I had only been charged twice. I spoke to a staff member at the store and requested a refund for one of the $11.20 charges, which was processed. However, today I realized I had actually been charged three times, meaning there was still another $11.20 that needed to be refunded. So I called the bakery and asked to speak with a manager. I spoke with someone named Danielle. I calmly explained the entire situation and told her I would send all my receipts and bank transaction records by email so they could double-check and confirm everything. She said ok and gave me their email address, but it was very long, and I was concerned about making a mistake while writing it down. So I politely asked if she could text me the email address instead. Her response was extremely rude -- she said, "I'm not required to do that," and told me to just write it down myself if I had a pen and paper. Although I was already uncomfortable with her attitude, I carefully wrote it down and sent the email. However, the email bounced back as invalid, even though I had confirmed the spelling with her multiple times over the phone. When I called again, Danielle answered and said, "Ma'am," in a very dismissive tone, and told me that they had found the three charges and had already processed refunds for both $11.20 transactions. I tried to confirm which card the refund was going to, since I used two different cards, but after putting me on hold for a long time, she read off a card number that was not mine. When I told her that wasn't my card, she insisted those were the only transactions for $11.20 yesterday and told me to "check my bank in a few days" and call back if the refund doesn't show up. And, she didn't apologize for the mistake, even though they charged my cards three times and wasted a significant amount of my time. Even yesterday, when I asked for an apology, I only received one reluctantly after I pointed out that they had made a mistake -- and even then, the response was dismissive, as if I should just accept it because they were "taking care of it." The attitude throughout this entire situation was rude, unprofessional, and extremely frustrating. The cheesecake was very good. But because of this experience, I would never come back. We drove all the way from Los Angeles to Tehachapi with my family, expecting a pleasant visit, but this bakery completely ruined the day. Being charged a total of $34.09 for just two small items due to repeated errors is unacceptable. If your staff cannot properly process payments, they should not be working as cashiers. Situations like this should never happen. What's even worse is that after making multiple mistakes, there was not a single sincere apology -- only attitude, dismissiveness, and instructions for me to keep checking my bank and call back again. My time is valuable. This entire situation could have been avoided if things were handled properly from the beginning. This was an extremely unpleasant experience, and I am very disappointed. Cf) For reference, the other $16.05 receipt is for bread that my brother purchased.

We left with at least three whole pies! And some single serving pie slices! And a wonderful gift from the owners! There were only seven of us, but, all of that pie got eaten. And they were delicious. They make pies (of course) as well as some other foods. Because I'm gluten-free and dairy-free, this limits me... but I'm SO happy they always have a safe pie I can buy. (And I have never had a gluten reaction to their GF items.) Their gluten-free dairy-free apple pie has been a bit bland for me. So I recently opted for their berry pie and WOW it did not disappoint! The berry pie was nice and flavorful!!! I bake as suggested by doing an egg wash on top, and that gives the top crust a really nice texture. I've also had their GF breads (because they sometimes have GF ones that are also dairy-free) and they are super yummy. The prices are a bit high, so I don't splurge too often. But I'm grateful there is safe pie for me when I really want it.
