I've been to many wineries in the area and this one is definitely one of the best I've been to. The location is great. There's plenty of seating inside with different location options. The outdoor area is perfect for large groups, families, and pet friendly. The two wines I had were very good. The cab sav was good but a bit bitter. The petit Verdot was very good and full bodied. This was a perfect spot with beautiful weather to catch up with lots of old friends for a reunion. read more

Beautiful venue for weddings. Drive through the vineyards to make way to the gazebo on a lake. If the weather is anywhere above 75 degrees, just wait in the car until the ceremony starts, or you'll be a sweaty swamp @$$ mess. Loved the outdoor wedding site and the lake view behind the gazebo. Drive back to the white building for the dinner and dancing. I can't say the food for the wedding was good, it was bland. You won't have reception out here, I got lucky had enough reception to screen shot directions back home before it lost the signal. read more

I've been to my fair share of wineries in the US, and every time I road trip I like to stop by one and try some local wine. So naturally, when exploring Virginia my friends and I decided to stop by Mount Ida. I knew based off the pictures online the property was going to be pretty, but in person it's even better. The views are gorgeous, the property is large, and tables are spaced out quite a lot (perfect for social distancing during the times of covid). We sat outside where there is a small food menu offered. Options included various dips, soups, a roasted veggie tart, chipotle chicken sandwich, and a burger. Everyone at the table ordered burgers except for one friend who ordered the tart. The burgers were quite good (although not the best I've ever had) and came with either fries or chips. I tried my friends veggie tart, which was delicious, but very tiny. Everyone was happy with their wine orders, and the cab sauv was particularly delicious. All in all a great experience; I'd highly recommend this winery to friends passing through town. read more

While down the road at Blenheim vineyards (worth a stop) we asked our wine server for a suggestion as to where to have lunch. He told us about Mount Ida and off we went. And so glad we did. Mount Ida is really new, only open a few weeks for the Tasting and Tap area with food. I understand they have been an event place for some time. We were seated outside to enjoy our lunch. Started out with a cheese and Charcuterie Board filled with a wonderful selection of meats and cheese. We shared the shaved Brussels sprouts. My son and I had the Mount Ida cheeseburger made with onsite beef, and it was super while my wife enjoyed the wedge salad. We enjoyed a bottle of Moonlight Red and even my wife sho does not drink enjoyed a glass. Beautiful setting to enjoy an afternoon. Will be back for sure the next time we travel to the area. read more

This review and email was sent to the venue with the following response- First of all I want to say that the wedding venue was so beautiful and our children are now happily married and enjoying their honeymoon.  The Wedding time went by all too quickly and my husband and I did not even have a chance to visit your tasting room.  A couple of our family staying with us did go and really enjoyed it.  The scenery during their morning run was also breath taking.  It truly is a beautiful place. In regard to the house where we stayed.  It too was wonderful so well set up with a nice large kitchen to gather around and visit while we all caught up.  There were family members from NJ, UAE, CA and NY.   There were a few issues in the house.  The master bedroom toilet would not flush even urine down without multiple flushes and plunging.  The showers scalded several of our guests during their showers in the main floor shower.  Master bathroom was better in that area.  The bunk beds had a dirty bed that was never cleaned it was turned down and there was hair in the bed showing it had been slept in and not cleaned.  There were many bugs in the house in the bedrooms.  The pool was full of wasps and could not be used.  There was a birds nest on the master balcony that had fallen and we told them about it but it was never cleaned up and so the balcony could not be used as there was debris and dead baby birds.  It needed a once over cleaning before we arrived and this could have all been avoided and our family completely enjoy our stay with you.  Pest control would have helped our one guest with fears as she is very allergic to stings.  I am requesting a discounted amount of our payment to be returned as compensation for these issues that could have been avoided with cleaning and care.  The amount paid for the house should have insured a clean and safe stay with working plumbing and pool use. Response from Venue With respect to your stay at our Mount Pleasant let me try to address each of the issues: the toilet in the master is an eco-friendly model so it does not have a strong flush like others because it doesn't empty the whole tank. You really have to hold the button down and wait for it to flush so that was probably part of what was occurring.  On the downstairs shower I am so sorry someone put the water too hot but it is a two handle fixture with separate hot and cold handles so it is entirely in their control as to how much cold water they add.  Perhaps they didn't feel the temperature before they entered the shower? With respect to the bugs and birds nest and dead birds on the balcony we are a farm and bugs and critters do often come with the territory.  Pest control comes every month to do all of our houses and buildings and the homes are cleaned prior to every stay but even with that we do run a through on the houses an hour prior to check specifically to check for bugs.  But they are a part of farm life and even with pest control and cleaning they are going to be there.  If there were bugs in windowsills, etc those arrived within an hour or two of your stay and wasps in the pool are also a common occurrence.  We just can't outrun the bugs entirely on the farm! Unfortunately none of what you experienced is something for which we would provide a refund or compensation for.  It sounds like the wedding weekend was otherwise enjoyable and I'm glad for that and I am sorry that the stay in the home wasn't quite as you expected. I was raised on a farm so please don't accuse farm life and the great outdoors for excuses to why a house that you charge over $1000 a night is not prepared to be rented.  I notice you did not address the issue of the dirty bed.  The dead birds did not just happen the carcasses were not fresh.  The bugs in the house were not recent.  The toilet doesn't flush even when it is held down the whole time.  My husband tried to fix with plunger etc.  Literally took over 10 flushes to get 3pieces of toilet paper ( squares)  and pee flushed down. The scalding in the shower happened after checking the temperature and was midway through rinsing hair and all they could do was jump out.  The breaker blew when I unplugged a curling iron and I had to go in the basement to put it back on.  Staff was told about the bugs and birds.  The wedding event the staff forgot to put out cookies on the cookie table.  Each one was a favorite brought to share with event.  I had to tell staff to fix issue.  They also did not serve the cake that was for desert requested by grooms mother.  Sheet cake decorated for guests to eat.  Just things that need to be addressed with staff training and cleaning and fixing your very pricey rental.  Your response was disrespectful and an attempt to blame us and our stupidity of farm knowledge instead of owning your part in an unprepared rental. read more

Gorgeous spot! Tons of parking, big spaces for kids to run around, dog friendly, great customer service and the views are breath taking! The burger was so mouth watering, yum!! I had the red sangria and my hubby had the brown ale which was good too. They brew their own beers and the inside is beautiful too. Only challenges were no umbrellas outside so you are baking in the sun (no water offered either) and they don't give you any plates or cutlery as your order comes in a to go bag to your table. read more

Date of sort of visit: May 23, 2020 I'm writing this review based on what we saw and read yesterday on our very brief visit. The property and winery itself are absolutely gorgeous. There is no disputing that fact! However, you could see upon pulling into the parking lot that there is pretty much no shade and absolutely no trees for shade. It was a hot, sunny day and so we recognized that right away. This was during Phase One of COVID 19 reopening so we would've been forced to sit outdoors. We were handed the menu at the door and read the availability and prices of the wines and drinks. We were told they were serving only wine by the bottle and only glasses of Rose and a white wine, along with 1/2 pints of beer. The wines were well above $37 per bottle (we've never been here before so didn't want to take a chance spending that much money on a wine we've never tasted). We really don't care for Rose or white. And a 1/2 pint of beer was $5.25!!! This seems to be a very overpriced winery, maybe a little "snooty". Anyway, we walked back down the beautiful walkway onto another winery. read more

Mount Ida is the quintessential dream wedding venue. From the moment you enter the gate, it's just plain magical. Rolling hills with mountain views, a barn that's been converted into a gorgeous event space, and a manor home that will blow your mind. My husband and I knew we wanted to have our wedding in the Charlottesville area and we had our hearts set on a barn for the reception. Mount Ida was the first venue we visited in person, and although we loved it instantly, we felt like we needed to check out a few more just to be sure. Well after visiting the other barn venues in the area (which were also all beautiful), we knew Mount Ida was the perfect place for us to tie the knot. Not only does it have a stunning outdoor ceremony site in front of a gazebo and pond, it also boasts a room at the event barn with a gorgeous fireplace that doubles as an indoor ceremony site should the weather be uncooperative. That right there sealed the deal for me, because I knew there was no way I would be stressing over rain on my wedding day. We ended up being blessed with amazingly beautiful fall weather with sunny skies, but honestly I would have been just as happy getting hitched at the gorgeous event barn. I mean, a fireplace backdrop? Yes, please! The option of renting the manor house for the weekend was another huge plus for us, and we ended up staying there with our wedding party. We hosted our rehearsal dinner outside of the house under a tent, and we were able to spend more quality time with our best friends than we would have had we just stayed at hotels. The 10,500 square foot house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has nine bedrooms (all but one with king beds), and is more beautiful than words can describe. The master suite has a balcony overlooking the pond, a bathroom large enough for two hair and makeup artists to work their magic, and the blinds are on a remote. Yep, a remote. Is this real life? It was for a weekend! I can't imagine a more picturesque location, and Mount Ida was everything we wanted and more! Our guests were gushing over the beauty of the venue, and our wedding party was thrilled with the manor house. One of my bridesmaids even said, "you know when you think something's going to be good, but it ends up being way better than you imagined? That's how I feel about this house." And one of my mom's closest friends told us that "the venue looked like the French countryside." Direct quotes, promise. Tracey was absolutely fantastic throughout the weekend, helping us with any issues that arose and answering any questions we had. She made sure everything ran super smoothly! Milicent was also awesome and took my husband and I to a gorgeous remote location with breathtaking mountain views for our first look. We felt completely calm and stress-free knowing that we were in such capable (and talented!) hands with Milicent and Tracey. If you're considering Mount Ida for your wedding, don't even think twice. Just book it. If I could rewind and relive our wedding weekend, I'd do it in a heartbeat. read more

By far the most beautiful & breathtaking venue I have ever been to for a wedding! It's a bummer that it isn't as well-known for brides because this place sure is magical!!!! This venue is not (that I know of) open to the public- as it does not double as a vineyard or brewery, etc. But this makes it more quaint. It's tucked away and boasts over 7,000 acres (at least I think that's what I heard at the wedding we attended!). The grounds are absolutely stunning and you have picturesque mountain views in the background...it's amazing! The wedding reception we attended was in the "lodge" which was DREAMY! It looked like a rustic, but modern, barn on the inside with high ceilings and wooden beams. There was also a very nice stone patio complete with a gas fireplace, comfy furnishings and numerous large heat lamps to keep warm! I would highly recommend this venue to any bride or anyone looking for a beautiful setting for an event! You will not be disappointed!!! read more

Stayed at Mt Pleasant for a long weekend. I have mixed views about the home. The home was beautiful inside and out and the lawn was well maintained. The facility was very clean but bathrooms did have a few cellar spiders along the walls but to be expected with an older home. The amenities were subpar. First there was only 10 forks for a 5 bedroom home. There were no bread, pizza or muffin pans and no cutting knives, pizza cutters or bowls of any kind. The was also no grill for outdoor cooking. Be aware of privacy invasion because there is an echo nest camera located in the formal living room. The river adjoining the property was more like a creek and was almost impossible to access from the deck. The website states 4 bathrooms and the house only has three. The pool was nice size and provided adequate outdoor furniture but the water was so dingy you couldn't see the bottom even in the swallow side. Tennis courts with basketball goals was an added bonus. The lake access had an amazing venue and beach area but the water was disgusting, so bad it stained our swimsuits. For the price of $1100/night my expectations were greater than what this property provided. read more

I attended a wedding at Mount Ida Farm this past summer (2014). I can honestly say that this was far and away the most beautiful location/wedding venue I have ever seen. The landscape was picturesque - completely surrounded by cascading mountains and dotted with lakes. It was incredibly convenient to get to as well. It only took 15 minutes from Charlottesville. Throughout the entire drive, I couldn't help but take in the gorgeous setting. Definitely want to retire or raise a family in Scottsville after this trip! read more

My girlfriend and I were at Mt Ida Oct 9th. We typically split our outings so we placed our order and she gave the server her card. The server let us know we could use separate cards when we were ready to close out. We ordered two cheese boxes, two prosciutto packs, two bottles of water, two sangria's and one glass of one of their white wines. The order came and only included one cheese box and prosciutto. My girlfriend had to flag down another server and ask for our additional cheese box and prosciutto. She brought us extra crackers... She then flagged down another server (all three were different) and explained AGAIN what our order originally included and we finally received what we'd asked for. We were only there less than two hours, and the only time we saw servers were when she chased them down. No one ever came by to close out our tab, and we had a dinner reservation to make so we cleaned up our own trash and left. The next morning my girlfriend realized that our tab was a total of $124 which seemed extremely high for the small portions of cheese and three drinks. She called to clarify what the cost was and was told that it states on the wispy paper menu in fine print that failure to close your tab upon leaving is an automatic 20% gratuity. We were a party of two who had to chase down three different servers to correct an order and throw away our own trash once done. We understand guidelines are different with COVID, but the service was terrible and even upon calling, my girlfriend was treated like a bother. No attempt to apologize or accommodate and the bottled water was apparently $4 each! Their prices are extremely inflated, and the customer service is awful. We later ate at Bang, ordered two bottled waters, two drinks, a TON of delicious tapas (6 different items) and our total bill was $78 ($94 with a well earned 20% tip). Disappointed is an understatement and it's no surprise this place is now for sale. The views aren't worth it. read more

This location was better than we ever could have asked for. I met with Milicent and instantly we knew that we needed to have our wedding at Mount Ida Farm. The farm was absolutely beautiful and Milicent was willing to do anything to make sure we had the best wedding possible. Thanks again for the best day ever! read more
