On a fall beautiful fall day, 15 of us visited Keswick Vineyards to try their wines. Keswick offers red and white dry wines, as well as slushees in their class-enclosed tasting room. The windows overlook the property, which interest also includes a mom-golf course for visitors to enjoy. They allow you to bring your own food, as they have a small selection of food offerings. We tried their flatbread, and it was very good. I tried the white wines, and they were very good, with the exception of the Sav Blanc, which wasn't on the menu, but was available. You ordered at the bar, and the servers were fast and friendly. You can enjoy you wine at several tables outside too. It's a nice location. read more

We chose this spot because it had a dog park where dogs were allowed off leash. The idea is awesome - but there was no gate to close it and I spent the 10 minutes in there my dogs would try and go through my legs to say hi to other dogs. One other thing- they were understaffed for a Saturday. It took quite a while to get through a tasting. With that said- Five stars for the wine! The wine was so good we joined the club. We're super appreciative that you could bring your dogs in almost every spot on the property. There were bathrooms everywhere. And it was great that you're allowed to bring your own food! So service is at the bar or at the window for the food truck. Servers were all friendly and helpful. We've been coming here for years and I admit I miss traditional wine tastings. Now it's all flights and figure it out on your own. Lots of seating indoor and outdoor even for larger groups. We did not try the food as the food truck was t open when we got there (we were there when they first opened). The wines were okay but nothing to write home about. As we were "vineyard" hopping, we came across this small, cozy winery. It had outdoor seating, and frankly it looked like someone's backyard with several wrought iron tables and chairs. I get they might want to be low key, but I wasn't thrilled with the atmosphere although the twinkle lights added a nice glow . We picked a few different wines and the flight was not bad, we enjoyed some of the deeper reds. We got some snacks, pimento cheese and crackers, as we had a few sips of wine and enjoyed the simple woodsy view. The folks were nice and knowledgeable. On a whim I pulled in and rode through the lovely vineyard up to the lodge innthe oak woods to have a sip. Hannah at the bar was a cheerful and helpful ambassador of the winery and got me set for a flight. I was able to take it outside where there are tables and the peaceful Virginia autumn warmth that makes me love not living in the North. I sampled Orange Viognier which was a pleasant example of one of VA's signature grape varietals. The Consensus Red was nice and the LVA Rives Red followed up nicely by surpassing it in structure and goodness. The wines aren't cheap, but you won't be disappointed by their quality or the setting in which you can enjoy them. read more

Had a nice tasting here with my husband and kids in tow on a weekday while my husband was still off for christmas. We chose our own flights and each had four different options, we enjoyed all 8. My favorite was the viognier and the orange viognier which was something i'd never encountered before. We all shared a cheese board from the Barrel and Board. It was pretty substantial! for two adults and three young kids we all had a good amount. It was a very cold day but we were warm in their glassed seating area, and had a good view over the vineyard. I imagine there are a lot more options for where to sit/hang out in the warmer, busier seasons. read more

I stopped by this winery yesterday after receiving recommendations from others. It's in a nice location with indoor and outdoor seating. I didn't receive much information about the wines, nor was I able to taste anything before I selected my 4 wines to try. All of their wines run dry, which I wasn't a fan of, and I didn't care for anything I tasted. The flight cost $20 for 4 tastings. It was a windy day, but as they were showing a soccer match on the TV, it was way too loud to sit inside, so I sat in the yard, which didn't have nearly enough heaters to keep the area warm. Very disappointing. Used to come here often two years ago and decided to visit again this year to get the charcuterie. It was $40 and the most expensive item on the menu. Portions were incredibly small, they did not provide jam, barely any crackers, presentation was lacking as the plate looked bare for $40. Visited this Saturday. I like the view, the music and I even liked one of the wines but the service was awful. AWFUL. Weirdly both inside and at the food truck they couldn't crack a smile, but they are quick to spin the payment device around and say "just sign" with the 22% already chosen. It really turns me off. I tip well, but let me choose and PLEASE just grin, we've all had a bad day, but I'm so friendly!!! Not worth it for me. I'll be going down the road to the other vineyards going forward, too many great vineyards to choose from and service means a lot these days. On a side note, to taste the wines, it is $20 and barely filled bottom of stem glass. As for the slushies, there is more alcohol in mouthwash. Wine was good but experience was pretty subpar compared to other wineries in the region. They are currently in the middle of construction on a new glass greenhouse type building, however since it was unfinished during our visit the ambiance felt like we were sitting on old picnic tables in the middle of a construction zone. The wine tasting was more of a grab and go experience, so we didn't get to really learn much about the wines. The food menu was pretty limited and the charcuterie board was more expensive than a few other wineries nearby. Since it was rainy/cold on our visit, we didn't get to spend much time outside but they do have more seating outside that might have been a better experience had the weather been better. Overall, doesn't scratch the top 5 wineries in Charlottesville. read more

Our second favorite on the Monticello trail, Keswick has a wonderful outdoor setting and a decent wine selection, highlighted by their Norton's - a personal favorite. All the wineries on this trail tend to price their wines on the higher side, but Keswick was closer to what I expect on a local vineyard experience. They came in at #2 behind Gabriele Rausse in our opinion, but definitely worth a visit. The tasting pours were good and the location/view is excellent. read more

SO beautiful! Just leaving from a friend's wedding here. It was easily the prettiest wedding I've ever been to. Only removed 1 star because the place is so remote that we were actually unable to get an Uber to leave. They had 1 shuttle bus rather late (we wanted to head out earlier, a more reasonable time for Ubers to be around anyway!) and no drivers even remotely in the area, on a Saturday night. Tried for 30 minutes until simply leaving on the bus. So FYI plan your transportation ahead of time so you aren't left stranded! Otherwise, highly recommend for an event venue. Incredible service and amenities (bathrooms, guest house / lounge areas, beautiful home, high quality tent and great furniture for the reception. Easy to get to on the property as well. If I were from Virginia, this would be on the top of my list of venues! You can't beat the view of the mountains. read more

One of our favorite vineyards in C-ville area! The area is tucked away in the trees a bit so you feel secluded but the views are very nice. The wine is great! Generous pours for tastings (you get to choose 4). The few times we went there was music playing and food trucks. Seating is seat yourself for the most part. They have comfy seats up on the deck and plenty of other tables scattered throughout. Sweet staff. Casual relaxing setting. Loads of room for people to spread out. Lovely live music. We sat on the hill under the trees in a glide rocker overlooking the pond below. Try the rosé and the white blend. Reds still need some time and work, but they were far better than the reds at our first stop. Yes we are wine snobs who just relocated here. Leased and off leash dog area. Huge field for soccer, football, or just to run about. Thanks to parent for minding your kids! This was the last stop on our little winery tour while out in Virginia. We did a tasting while there and then decided to purchase a bottle of rose' to share amongst the 5 of us. Of all the wineries this was our least favorites. What we liked was the outdoor set up. It had a nice outdoor patio set up and seating with a stage and live music overlooking water and mother nature and you could bring in your own food. There was also a food truck in the parking lot outside selling food for purchase and it appeared that the food and music changed every weekend. What we didn't like was the small amount of pours for the tasting and the price especially compared to the other vineyards we had been to already. The pours equated to more of a sip rather than an actual taste especially due to the cost. Also for the cheese and meats they were all pre packaged in a fridge and there were no options for already sliced meats or cheeses. The staff were nice and friendly but this was one of the least favorite wineries in the area that we had been to. read more

I would so go back as we had so much fun. They have a very large outdoor seating area with heaters for when it gets chilly and an outdoor fireplace. The provide service inside and outside as well. They have good views of course. This would be a nice place to go if you had a group of people with you! Our second time to visit Keswick and the second time I forgot to take pics! We so thoroughly enjoyed our time here, I think I was too relaxed and happy to take pics! The drive to get here is just beautiful...Virginia country roads at their finest. The wines are great...really nice pours too. Keswick has so many places for you to enjoy your wine. Nice tent if the weather is not cooperating, beautiful tasting area, nice porch with comfy chairs. Then there is the outside!...Wow! Plenty of seating with tables and an incredible view! They recently added a mini golf course! What a fabulous idea! I just wish it wouldn't be $10 per person. I think $5 per person would be a lot more reasonable, especially if you bring your family. This was my least favorite wine experience during our trip to the Charlottesville area this weekend. I emphasize experience because that is what it is about when you go to a vineyard and, although their wines are ok and their view is nice, our wines were poured with a very salty attitude and dash of hate and punishment accented speech from the lady who greeted us and served our pours. I didn't catch her name but the brown-haired lady acted like we were bothering her by asking about how their flights worked and placing an order. We went at a time when they were not busy. Every response was curt, condescending, and just rude. At one point I said "oh, I am sorry if we are being a little complicated" to lighten up the mood. She simply starred at us unresponsive; to the rescue, her friendlier coworker jumped in and said "no you are not. It's important that you understand our pours and wine." But, unfortunately we were stuck with the ill mannered lady for our entire order. Because of this, we chose to share one flight, not make any food or bottle purchases, and quickly leave for another vineyard. I never understood why some people with zero customer service skills are placed in positions to interface with the public. With so many wineries with great wine, fantastic views, and superb customer service I recommend skipping this one and going to one that comes with the service we all pay for and deserve. That is what we received at the next vineyard we visited, and it was such a close drive! As a tradition, we visit Charlottesville 1-3 times a year on vacation. Outside of the service experience, I found the wines to be overpriced for their quality. Their dry whites were more tolerable--and just ok to me--but I found their reds not as well balanced and with too heavy of a tannin finish. This winery will remain off of our visit and recommendation list to friends and family due to a service I can not overlook. read more
