He is kind, compassionate, thoughtful, an amazing listener, true to his word, down to earth and a great guy. He was so comforting through the unimaginable grief our family has endured by losing both parents so close together. We were in the celebration of life room which has tables and chairs decorated personally and beautifully, coffee, tea, pop and water are readily available in the room and we were able to celebrate my Mom's life which was such a comfort to all who attended and especially for my young nephews. Mark was also amazing with our Dad's wishes of just being cremated and nothing else. This was very hard for the family to accept but we knew we needed to abide by his final wishes. The hall where the service took place was beautiful, besides sympathies, the most common thing I heard was about how great the place looked. They had a couple comfort animals running around and a staff member was always unobtrusively available. They made a wonderful slideshow out of the pictures we gave them. Digitized everything. The most touching part was a display they made, we had discussed interests, hobbies and such. They made a whole display out of the things we talked about with some pictures added on.

I ordered a beautiful spray of flowers to be delivered, and when the flowers arrived, the funeral home sent the flowers back because they are not what they wanted. Even though it was the family's wishes for an full open casket, hours before the showing, they closed half of the casket and told us they would never leave it open (even though that is what we were told and planned). When confronting the problem, the owners were very disrespectful. Therefore I beg you to please avoid this place. Go someplace else and say your goodbyes and prayers at a funeral home that will take care of your wishes. This place ruined saying goodbye to a very special family member.

The sign state the gates close at 5, we were there shortly after 4, and the gate was locked, both by the admin bldg and by Delavan Ave. called the number listed, but no one answered. left a v/m, never got a return call. had to go through the cemetery and out onto Delaware Ave. Had we been in a car, that would have been no big deal, but we were on our bikes which added significantly to our ride b/c we still needed to get back to Main St. in order to get home. They provided a very lovely wake and coordinated everything from start to finish with dignity and grace. I felt at the end as if I had also made a friend with John as he was that close to me and guiding during this time. His smile along and comforting demeanor will immediately provide you with confidence you made the right choice. The funeral home itself is "local and comfortable- simple and dignified". The workers were accommodating for anyone to speak up, come early for private viewing and plenty of water and tissues readily available for public use. The viewing room we were in was rather small but perfect for the small family crowd we had. I appreciated having a somewhat private room across the hall for those moments where you need a minute to be alone. The parking lot was small and became a bit of an issue during peak times. Also, because it's on the corner of several main roads, it's easy to pass if you aren't familiar with the area or to get lost in the tops plaza behind it.

Our family didn't feel rushed or pressured at the wake or the service and burial. The personal service set it apart from other funeral homes: I'd been to two services for my grandmother and stepfather 10 and 15 years ago and they were cold and impersonal compared to John E Roberts Funeral Home.

My sister was cremated but all of the arrangements were taken care of through the funeral home. We made arrangements on a Wednesday and they made sure we had my sister's urn ready for her memorial dinner two days later on Friday. We spoke to Lisa when we picked up the urn and she was so kind and hugged both me and my mom. The price for the cremation was reasonable compared to other funeral homes in the area.
