My family has been going to Hide Auto Centre since I can remember. His specialty is Japanese cars (honda and toyota), but Hide Auto Centre also fixes european and american cars. Hide is an extremely nice man and very trusting. He never "overcharges" for ghost fees or tries to upsell you to do fix something random with your car. One thing that I really appreciate is that he always goes over the entire bill with you. He also will explain to you exactly what happened with the car--sometimes bringing you the broken piece--so you know what he's fixing. When you first walk into his small store-front, keep in mind that his waiting area is not a nice frily waiting area of an overpriced dealership repair shop, filled with a cappucino maker and an endless supply of day-old donuts. Remeber that you're paying to have your car fixed, not to be entertained while you wait. The waiting area is small, with only a few chairs. There's coffee available and a small tv to entertain yourself. It's probably a good idea to bring a book to read if you're going to wait.

Ok so I grew up in a small East Coast town where everyone knows everyone so people had to be honest…read more(and rely on repeat customers) or else word would get around and business would dry up. Then I lived in Montreal & Toronto and realized how hard it is to find an honest mechanic (or is it automotive service technician?). Over the years since leaving NS, I've tried dozens of different garages and wasted thousands of dollars on unnecessary work. Eventually, I lost faith and concluded that most of the shops in big cities are full of con artists because there's enough people that repeat customers aren't so valuable. Then I found this shop, totally by chance. I had tried several of the "highly reviewed" places throughout the GTA and each time, I'd leave with misgivings about how much I'd spent and whether it was really justified. One day I just said "screw it", found a place that was super close and just went in blind. I must say, I'm really impressed (and relieved) with what I found. The owner (Joe) and his son (Eric) are super honest and thorough. They are great listeners and communicators, which is important when trying to diagnose specific issues in older vehicles so as to avoid red herrings. I'm driving around a 13-year old high mileage rattle bucket and so I know there's plenty of opportunity to suggest that I "change the blinker fluid" but everything they've ever proposed is sensible, reasonable, above board and beyond reproach. They have fair prices to boot. Normally I don't take this much time to review anything other than restaurants but discovering this shop has had such a positive impact on my life (imagine when you finally find that barber who does it right and multiply that by 10) that I felt compelled to share. Finally I can just leave the friggin' car in the hands of someone I trust and get the job done with peace of mind.

Bring all the family vehicles here for tires, brakes, oil change, etc. Not one complaint in over 10 years. The service, pricing, and customer service is always great. We've had European, Japanese, and domestics. They work on all of them, and if there is something specialized (ie specific luxury german car programming or recalls) they just give me the honest advice and advise what to do as opposed to trying to make a quick buck off me. They're a great shop to drop in, get things done on time, and then be on your way. Most importantly for a mechanic they explain things well, no nasty surprises, and the pricing is very fair and transparent. They're always happy to help in a pinch, they give honest good advice, and it's frankly a pleasure to have an honest mechanic. Hard thing to come by! As a local resident i believe it's important to support honest, hard working local business owners who live and participate in the community. Congratulations on your new location!

Being decently handy, I had an idea of how I might go about repairing it myself, but sought professional advice. The gentleman I talked to backed up what I had thought, and suggested I could do it myself, with the right parts. He pointed me in the right direction, and saved us $400, that we would have paid at the dealership. Excellent customer service, I'll definitely be returning if we need a mechanic to look at our car.

I would strongly caution motorists before trusting this shop with a major repair…read more In March 2024, I PAID MASTER MECHANIC TO REPLACE the flex/Y-pipe on my 2015 Infiniti QX60. Approximately 27 MONTHS LATER, I was advised that the same exhaust component needed to be replaced AGAIN. In my opinion, that is an unacceptable lifespan for a repair of this nature and raises serious questions about the quality of the part supplied, the installation, or the original repair. I retained the invoice and photographs and subsequently examined the components on the vehicle. Rather than reassuring me, what I found left me with MORE questions about exactly what was installed in 2024 and why I was facing the same repair again barely two years later. This is what concerns me most: customers generally cannot crawl underneath their vehicles and verify expensive repairs themselves. We PAY professional mechanics because we TRUST them to install the parts we paid for and perform the work competently. After this experience, that trust is gone. I brought my concerns directly to Frank, the Service Manager (Habib the owner refused to speak with me). Frank refused to answer any of my questions and did not provide an explanation. My advice to other motorists is simple: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. KEEP YOUR INVOICES. PHOTOGRAPH THE PARTS. ASK TO SEE WHAT WAS REMOVED. GET A SECOND OPINION. I would NEVER entrust another vehicle to this location.

Don't judge a book by its cover; at least not this one!…read more Price: EXCELLENT There's no electronic toys or fake labour hours here, just years of old fashioned car experience. Work Quality: EXCELLENT As far as I can tell I've never had to bring the car back for anything he worked on. Transmission, brakes, shocks, struts... (yup, I've visited Renee a lot over the years). Experience: REFRESHINGLY HONEST Even with a bit of a language barrier, Renee lets you know what needs to be done, what he can do, for what price, and what he can't. He'll show you the book he orders parts from and let you choose after market or OEM to help you stay within your budget / quality parameters. To get 5 Stars: Wider range of services - The City of Toronto "Inspectors" told him he could no longer do transmission replacements or other jobs unless he gets a lift and some other upgrades and permits ($$$). Basically squashing the small business owner who can work just fine using ramps and pulleys. (However in 2012 Renee replaced my transmission and my 2003 Elantra is still running great!) Technology: No website, email, electronic diagnostic machine... *** Why choose Maya Motors *** I first found this shop in 2012 out of frustration of local 'big shop' labour prices when needing my transmission changed on my 2003 Elantra GT. After 10 years and two people learning to drive stick on this car; it needed some love. Having seen this place while running the Railpath I stopped in discussing my car issues with the owner Renee. He said he would take a look and in about an hour called me with the same diagnostic that cost me $175 at Canadian Tire, but with a solution that was over 50% less than CT's quote. Just today I had an oil change and tune up done by Renee and the car is running great (which compelled me to write this review). While he's kind of in an auto strip of greasers who seem a bit shady, but Renee's a great old guy I love working on my car and I'll be honestly a little sad in two years when he retires.
