At the end of class, after I am spent, she has us do like a million Sautés then Relevé in first and hold it. She says something to the effect of..... take all that energy and quiet it. That's what makes a dancer, being able to create all that energy and harness it. That resonates with me and I appreciate it. Granted I am bay FAR the oldest in the class, but personally I don't mind it. I find it both nostalgic and inspiring. Overall great studio, and I can see in the girls the fabulous technique they have. Beautiful dancers, and Chelsea is a great teacher!

The dance team and studio director Jami Gobee puts an enormous amount of stress on these dancers and then criticizes them when they can't handle the stress. She refused to allow any medical accommodations that were provided, and repeatedly told us that she knows more as a dancer than our surgical doctor and therefore wouldn't accept the notes!! Instead of allowing accommodations, she made punishing threats and forced my child to take all of her classes when she was injured and sick. With every request, I received a cold and rigid response like the one copied from the other reviewer. Jami and her dance teachers regularly humiliated and ridiculed my child for her anxiety when they were the root cause of that anxiety, and told her that her dancing was getting worse (I wonder why....). Anxiety increased exponentially during her time at Fusion, and dropped almost instantly once we left. Jami told the entire dance team not to talk to us when we left, which speaks volumes to her character. They are all afraid of this woman. I would love to say that this is a good studio, but Jami creates an unhealthy environment for youth that I would not recommend to anyone. So unfortunate and so misguided.

My daughter started taking dance classes about 5 years ago. We were at another local dance studio…read moretaking ballet classes but then she got an instructor she did not like -- frankly I didn't think much of her; she did not have the body of an older dancer but an overweight average mom (sorry, you kinda want your dance teacher to look like they could do an arabesque) -- unfortunately that instructor took over all the young ballet dance classes so there was no escape. Not wanting her to kill my daughter's enthusiasm for ballet, we switched to PSPA. It was the smartest thing we did. We've been at PSPA for 4 years and it has been great. Tita, the owner, still teaches classes and keeps the studio family friendly. There is a diversity of classes and all the teachers we have had are great. Studio fees are on par to other studios but you can pay monthly or quarterly, check or credit card. The costume recital fees are reasonable which is so helpful when your child has multiple dance classes. As a mom, I am so happy that the costumes are age appropriate -- no crop tops for tots -- no one wants to see their young daughter resemble something from the Vegas strip. The studio is continuing to grow and change to try to fit the demands of the students. Their website isn't always current but it does have a fair amount of information. Typically the office is not staffed in the morning but I've always gotten a call back or email to answer my question. There are two studio locations -- one in Lunada Bay and one across from the PV main library so there is a diversity of offerings and days/times available. Both locations are quite old since they are in old buildings but its functional. They've added more male/boys dance classes so it's nice to see young men encouraged to dance. While most of the dancers are not professionally bound, many do competitions and teams. However, there are dancers that do go on to professional level. My son's friend got a great foundation here before she went on to a more intense venue. While I don't see my daughter having the innate talent to become a prima ballerina, her love of dancing is nurtured here and she enjoys PSPA immensely -- what more could I ask for. They also have an active parent group that helps fund raise to offset production costs for performances and recitals.
