I debated for a long time whether I was going to post a review for this studio as I'm hoping what happened to me was an isolated incident and hopefully doesn't represent the studio in its entirety. But I think if potential customers have a choice to pick a teacher then it's in their best interest to know what happened with my daughters former teacher. I am copying and pasting some from my original email to the owner as it's a real time (back then) depiction of what happened. "This message is for the owner. This is ashley and my daughter hazel is enrolled in the cotton candy 2-5year old Saturday class. During today's class, midway through, miss Jennifer picked up my daughter and brought her to the lobby where she ushered her to me exclaiming "I can't do this anymore." I have many thoughts I want to express and I'll do my best to do so in an efficient but clear manner. Of course, her being two years old, she doesn't listen too well just yet but she certainly has a great time at these classes regardless. She doesn't hit any one, bite any one, scream or kick but she does play well with others and especially likes [Another students] company. Her and [student] had a great time today playing in class and I do acknowledge that hazel can be a distraction at times but again she is only 2 and at this age I imagine the classes essential purpose is for fun right now. I felt miss Jennifer kicking hazel out of class was unwarranted. There are more constructive ways of handling these type of things and getting flustered and making one girl leave in this manner (although both girls were having fun) felt targeted. Besides [student] and hazel, the other two girls were still dancing and participating so I'm not sure why it got blown out of proportion like this. I feel disappointed in how the situation was handled entirely. Hazel taking direction is a work in progress and sometimes she has good days and not so good days; but again she is just 2 years old. If the expectation is that the children must follow direction at all times then 2 year olds probably shouldn't be invited to dance. We have come pretty steady to all classes since enrolling, dressed up for the Halloween party, brought snacks and drinks; brought a friend to bring-a-friend to dance week (who ended up enrolling); pretty much we have tried our best to participate And i feel we were treated unfairly and swiftly. At this time do please cancel my daughters enrollment and discontinue further payment. I'm happy to speak with you further if you'd like to call me." The owner seemed sincere in her apology and suggested hazel take a class with a different teacher but I didn't feel comfortable bringing her back there. In fact I found out later from my friend whose girl danced in that class, the teacher Jennifer made it a point to praise the remaining students for listening at the end of class and it was extremely obnoxious. read more

I feel this is a money scam. They are not interested in your child only the money they debit from your account. I would like to start this review by stating that I am a single mother of a hard working 11 year old who hopes to one day acheive stardom. For this reason I struggle and work hard to pay the extremely high cost of dance lessons. For $300 a month, there is an expectation of some level of customer service. If for no other reason, a childs dreams are at stake. I know there are plenty of you out there that understand. That being said, my daughter has worked hard and sacrificed alot to acheive her goals at such a young age. She is an 11 year old professional dancer. By this I mean that she is lucky and talented enough to get paid for appearances. Ok. So after having problems with her previous dance studio, we went in search of a new dance studio. Most of our dance friends suggested Millenium. Because they are professional and used to dealing with professionals. However, we decided to try out Dance Factory. It was more expensive but closer to home. I went in to discuss our needs and expectations. The owner, Julie met with us personally. She was familiar with our old studio and assured us that she could accommodate our needs. She immediately highlighted a paper with 9 classes and suggested unlimited classes to pay for her 9 highlighted classes. I told them she would miss alot of classes due to auditions and bookings and that our main concern was being able to have make up classes available and useable. Julie quickly assured me there would be make up classes available and it would not be a problem. I informed them she would be out for june as she was visiting family. Julie agreed again and assured me they would accommodate. The problems begin.... First problem. Ashley, receptionist, tells me 2 of her classes are closed due to competition. And that there were in fact only 6 classes for her to take. Thus reducing her tuition by more than 100 dollars. I felt cheated. The owner convinced me to pay for classes that she was not allowed to attend. After I pointed this out they still over charged me but offered me make up lessons as to accommodate for the over charge. In addition as expected she missed a few classes due to auditions and bookings. All in all she had almost 8 weeks of make up classes. Because they auto debit you on the first of month, we either made up the classes or lost our money. Ok, not feeling good about this company's ethics now, but I stay pleasant and attempt to schedule make up classes. Unfortunately, most of the classes available due conflicts in skill level. She is currently enrolled in most all classes for her skill level, leaving few available for make ups...? On top of that, we would show up for dance class only to find that class was canceled due to competition with no prior notice. So she would have to wait for me to turn around and drive back to get her. Resulting in more make up classes. Next problem... most of her classmates are on competition dancers for the studio. They pay closer to 500 a month. So she would be asked to sit and observe for large portions of her paid classes due to the regular dance class would be spent going over competition dance. AFTER COMPETITION COMES RECITAL. SO, this all repeats. So we continue paying for lessons shes not getting and make up classes she cant take unless she wants to waste time with the younger kids that are dancing below her skill level. However, they keep taking my money... So today I call to let them know she has returned and schedule to use her 2 months of make up classes and Ashley says none available due to recital practice. I am upset and all of a sudden she cant hear me. I ask to speak to Julie expecting she will honor her promise. She yells at me and threatens to hang up. Suddenly there is great reception? I tell her i want to discuss getting my money for all the make ups. She again threatens to hang up.... i tell her if she hangs up I will come down to studio to discuss the matter peacefully. I am the customer and they can at least here me out. She tells me the police will be waiting for me. I asked again can we discuss peacefully, she hangs up, when I call back they hang up repeatedly. When I arrive she has the police waiting for me. How humiliated I was. All the parents starring at me. I was mortified. Thank the lord my daughter wasnt there. Julie the owner was rude and loud. Not to mention she lied to police repeatedly. I told her we would be voicing this on social media. She yelled at me and told me to never return. I feel like this is a money scam, dancer beware. read more

This school is amazing. The staff is professional, talented, and very caring. My daughter has learned so much and also gained much confidence since here attendance. The price is more than reasonable for all that she gets as well. I always recommend this school to all of my friends. read more

My daughter started with The Dance Factory 2 years ago just taking a simple hip hop class. Miss Brianna was so encouraging with my newbie dancer. The end of the season "Super Show" is a great performance where each class can show off what they learned for that dance. She has since been invited and participates in their Performing Team and it has been such a wonderful experience. All of the teachers have been great with her and 2 years later she still looks forward to attending each of her classes. Miss Julie has been a great mentor to help me as a new dance mom with decisions on her success as a dancer. I have trusted recommendations for classes and she has been spot on. My daughter began dancing at the dance factory at age 2 and has been dancing here for the past 2 years. The teachers are very patient and wonderful role models for the dancers. There is also an amazing network of moms that appreciate everything the studio has done for their children. The hard work and dedication shows and the trophies lining the walls speak for themselves. Competitive level dance is a big commitment but the benefits are definitely worth it! The studio also offers a range of classes and various commitment levels. GREAT Local dance studio! I only have experience with the 2-3 year old classes, but my daughter loves them! She loves the instructors, and I like the combo class option to expose her to 2 styles of dance/gymnastics in one class. Hello everyone! This is my 11th year at TDF and I can for sure say it's been a positive experience. I started off taking recreational classes for a few years, then joined performing team. After two years on performing team, I joined the elite team (which I have now been a part of for seven years). I can for sure say that at my time at TDF I have grown so much, not only as a dancer, but as a person. Juli and her staff keep the studio a positive space with a family like attitude. My teammates feel as if they are my sisters. I would definitely recommend The Dance Factory for any dancer of any age and level. read more

WOW! I am very surprised by the 3 "good" reviews on this place. I was just there on Friday (last wk) to do a free intro class for my 3 year old. She did the Ballet/Tap/Tumble class in the afternoon. The teacher was very nice, but the tumble part of the class was a joke! Tumble was doing bunny jumps, froggy jumps and 2 somersaults!! NO Cartwheels, NO hand stand, no backbend as the "Class Description" showed on their website! Another bad thing is that I like to watch what my little girl is doing & learning, IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE to do that here, as there is absolutely NO room to seat and observe the class. THere is only a little tiny waiting area in the super tiny lobby. Besides that I had to keep walking outside because IT WAS SO HOT inside! I don't know if the AC was off or they just don't use it - even my daughter complaint (20 min. in to the class) that she was HOT! But this not the worst of it! At the end of class - absolutely NO ONE approached me to see if I like it or not, no one explain the class description, class sizes, teachers / credentials, how many studios, is there a bathroom in here? - I mean absolutely NOTHING!!! The person sitting on the front desk was doing make up on a computer!? There is NO WAY i will recommend this to any of my mommy friends ... and I belong to couple of groups so I'll make sure I say not to go here. I was recommended this dance studio from one of my friend whose daughter was taking ballet, stretch and acrobat. At that time my daughter was little and didn't understand English because we are from Japan. When my daughter become age of 5, she tryout acro class which she was interested in. I promised myself we will comeback when she enter kinder and she start to leaned English. Now my daughter is 8 years old. She is taking many dance styles and join competition team. Thanks to all professional teachers my daughters dance skill is improved a lot and she loves dancing on stage. read more

OK so I First of all Favoritism is an understatement for this studio! It does not surprise me that the studio has two stars they deserve ONE. If you have an active hyper two year old (im sure most parents can relate) I would recommend you keep your children FAR AWAY, My daughter was two and three months when she started here at the dance studio (Cotton Candy dancers) Creative movement , As a growing two year old learning social skills I thought it would be perfect ! It took my daughter a few classes to adjust. (as im sure it would any CHILD who is growing and learning. )Second of all the teachers are the Teenage students in the older classes at the studio, who are offered to teach the younger girls so they can "LOWER THEIR TUITION" . BTW they are not patient or nice. There was an incident I would like to point out, when one of my daughter's fellow dancer asked the YOUNG teacher "May I please have a pink one" (prop that they use to let the kids add in there class, maracas , scarf's , ects. ) The teacher said. "You get what you get DO NOT COMPLAIN" to a two/ year old. When I say favoritism I mean the teacher would constantly recognize certain dancers and not others and it would cause a regular child to act out hungry for any attention even if its bad. ANYWAYS let me get to the point. They should really tell you BEFORE they want to take your money, that your TWO year old toddler MUST not be free spirited or silly or hey lets just say a typical TWO YEAR old before this class. !! read more

We started our 12th year with The Dance Factory. My daughter started at age 3 and will be 15 in November. She started as a "Cotton Candy Kid" in a pink tutu and then 2 years later started on the competition team and was a proud member for 9 years. She has made the most of her dance experience...competed in group routines, solos, duets and trios in all genres (jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, musical theater) and has taken many technique and contemporary classes too. The Super Show (recital) has been a favorite event from the very first time she performed in it. Now thanks to the great technique she has learned she is a dancer on a very competitive Song Team in High School. She continues to keep her technique sharp by taking weekly classes at The Dance Factory. The studio is small so in a very short period of time your child will become part of the family of dancers who love and support each other. read more

I have 2 daughters on The Dance Factory's Competition team. My oldest has been dancing here for 8 years. They have not only learned various forms of dance but have learned about commitment, dedication, discipline and teamwork. The Competiton Teams have performed very successfully, especially in the last few years and all of the dancers are very supportive of each other. Miss Juli, the owner, cares alot about the students and has always been great with my kids. She is easy to talk to about any questions or concerns. I signed up my 3 year old daughter in hopes to break her out of her "shell". Being that she was shy the teachers were very sweet to her and the the rest of the kids as well. I started at TDF hoping my 4 year old would have fun dancing. Now, three years later, she not only has fun dancing but she absolutely LOVES dancing! She went from 1 class to 9 classes a week and she still wants more. My other daughter (now 4) loves it too and dances 5 hours a week. Together they have grown up at the dance factory where the teachers have become like a family to us and the other kids like sisters. I am super proud of their dancing abilities and feel great that they are so happy being at TDF:) I can't wait to my last daughter (6 months) can start! read more
