I visited People's Yoga, Health & Dance for the first time last night to attend one of Rhonda Diamond's monthly West Coast Swing Dance and fundraiser for the DJDK foundation, which raises funds to support dancers struggling with ALS, aka Lou Gehrigs Disease. Did you know that California has an official state dance? Well, we do and it is called West Coast Swing. Once a month there is a West Coast Sing Dance held here at this studio which has a fabulous dance floor. Ask about weekly lessons as I saw signs that indicated they had them. The dance floor here is beautiful and dances well. There were couches and chairs enough for most people to sit when they were't dancing. The restroom was tiny and reached through a narrow twisting hallway all the way in the back but was immaculately clean. The entire front wall of the space is floor to ceiling windows giving people on the street a great view of what is going on inside. I know from the name that there are yoga classes here. There was also a sign on the back wall that indicated that classes were held in a room upstairs by Pole~licious, a Platinum Stages sponsored pole fitness studio. For those who don't know - Platinum Stages are one of the top quality manufacturers of pole dancing poles and supplies in the world. My pole dancing studio back in Bakersfield, Polga Fitness, uses 15 foot spinning poles manufactured by Platinum Stages. We're talking the best, folks! I come here for the Zumba classes. So much fun! I'm the kind of person where I get bored fast at the gym. Not here!!!!! People's Place offers the best private dance lesson sessions. Jan choreographed our wedding day first dance song and we had so much while learning how to dance together. We will be going back for more private lessons! read more

Im updating my review for peoples because I go here more than I used too and learned a lot more about the company. Jan the owner and the person who teaches most of the classes is amazing, the two receptionists are a joy to talk to, and all the rest of the teachers are just as nice! My favorite exotic class that they have is pole dancing, Barbra, Natalie, and Sonya are really great to work with and depend on my weekly classes to keep me in tip top shape! I'm not in the habit of writing reviews, but I finally decided that I needed to find a way to thank everyone for making my wedding day perfect. I was originally "just" going to mention that amazing job Jan did with choreographing and teaching me and my husband my first dance. We didn't even know that my fiance knew how to dance, but Jan really drew us both out, and our first dance was more perfect than I could have ever dreamed of. What brought me to Jan is that after being her client a long time ago, I started participating in the classes at People's. I have gained rhythm, balance, flexibility and reached my weight goals since coming to People's. The classes are all top of the line, and at an extremely reasonable price. I wish I had more time to go to this studio! So much going on! They have a wide range of classes from ballet to Zumba! Jan, the owner, is so hospitable and encouraging! She teaches great classes and really knows what she is doing! I would take ballet from Miss Doris here. I loved the class!! She is supportive to every person who comes into the studio, especially older former dancers. Her class is a good workout and is progressive in intensity! She also teaches a tough floor barre! I LOVE THIS YOGA STUDIO!! I work in San Pedro but live in Long Beach. Shelagh is my favorite I knew the 1st time I took her class I liked her style. she has this amazing way of reminding you of not only to breathe but body mechanics, she is incredible. I believe she teaches on mon/wed/sat am at 10:30. def try her out. I like this place b/c it has lots of variety on classes and ESP. TIMES. i dont like yoga places that are so strict on times like only in the evenings. their prices are the best. plenty of parking and nice big studio so u arent on top of other people. I tell my massage clients about this place and I've even passed out their flyer/schedule to people in the chiro. ofc I work that. San Pedro has needed a place like this for a long time!! read more

I need to work out to stay healthy and strong. It's so convenient for me being two doors away to come to this studio, but mostly I love taking pilates classes with Marcel Nagy here. Prices for classes are great,and the studio is beautiful . I'm so happy that they are in my neighborhood!! read more

I love this place! I used to do Yoga and Pilates here and the instructor was amazing! They offer all sorts of classes! They even have pole dancing! They have different pricing packages for a certain amount of classes. They also have yoga mats and blocks so you don't have to buy your own! The staff is so lovely and everyone in the classes are just such sweet ladies! I absolutely recommend checking this place out for all the different types of classes! Everyone is amazing! read more

I had been attending Zumba classes at this studio for a few months, and at first, thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Then, classes started getting cancelled with no notice, even though they have a social media site, and at times replaced with Yoga (not what you want when looking for cardio). This is extremely frustrating when you pay for unlimited classes. The Thursday class advertised live drums, which never happened. Sunday morning Zumba got cancelled with no updates. Any attempts to get information from the owner were not, and still have not been replied to. To top it off, when I replied to another student who said they were going on Sundays to inform her that the teacher moved, trying to help someone get healthy, I received an uncalled for reply thanking me for driving customers away from the studio. Apparently, the goal is to get people in the door, not get them worked out and healthy. If you are looking for a good studio that cares about your HEALTH for Zumba, check out Xtreme Fitness in Torrance instead. Don't waste your money on a place that simply doesn't care. read more

The people and the instruction have been great. Before coming to the Peoples Place I was seeing a chiropractor about once a week. Once I started taking Yoga & Zumba classes on a regular basis many of my back issues resolved themselves and I stopped seeing my chiropractor. When my back gets tight or out of whack a good Yoga class and/or Zumba class often helps it unwind. I like the variety of Yoga classes. In particular, the restorative & Prime of Life classes have been very helpful. Overall, having a place to go to like the Peoples Place has made a big difference in my quality of life. read more

Taking Policious classes is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Through all my years of running, dance, hitting the gym, and the dreaded Bikram Yoga, pole has been the most satisfying physically and emotionally!! This is something every woman should do for herself. Barbara, Sonya, and Natalie are all amazing teachers. They have created an amazing environment for us to feel comfortable, safe, beautiful, and we have a blast! Acquiring the best workout I've ever had is just the frosting on the cupcake!!
