I received a recent recommendation for physical therapy for some joint pain and gave this spot a try. My decision was motivated more by convenience than reviews or recommendations since it was so close to my regular commute.
I know they say don't judge based on appearances, but it's hard not to here. The building is quite small and unassuming on the outside, and it doesn't get much better on the inside. The waiting space consists of a few chairs, and beyond that, there are a few beds and one or two machines along the wall. The interior shows clear signs of age and dilapidation, and I felt generally uncomfortable lying on a pillow when the pillowcase hadn't been changed since the last patient.
The PT who worked with me was sweet, but I didn't leave with a terribly clear sense of my progress plan moving forward. I was also left alone while doing the exercises, with little sense of whether my form was correct. As I looked around the room, it seemed like a lot of folks were left to do their own thing. It might be because some are repeat patients who know the drill; to me, it seemed more an issue of a few staff being spread thin among lots of patients.
Motion Therapy was my first experience with physical therapy, which didn't leave me with a terribly high opinion of PT in general. Having hence compared notes with a few others with ailments similar to mine who received PT, I realized there were quite a few things that were absent from my appointment that I should or could have received but didn't because the space just wasn't outfitted with a lot of the equipment that might've been helpful. Having since moved on to another clinic, I'm a little wowed at how much more helpful treatment can become with updated facilities, specialized equipment, and use-at-home materials.
On a side note, I should also share that while Motion Therapy is within my insurance's network, the deductibles ended up being FAR more expensive here. I'm now attending another clinic that's technically out of network, but with a copay that's a fraction of the cost. I'll never understand insurance math, but that ended up being another big reason for my non-return. read more
