We were amazed at the cleanliness and neatness of everything. They explained the pool and spa was on a timer and opened at 3pm but if we wanted to use it sooner to let them know and they would turn on the heater for the day. "Wow, hope nice of them!" So we booked the place at one of the best prices on the area. I was amazed for everything we got. The room was huge. When you walk in the room the first thing you notice is the beautiful steel grey carpet. It s newly installed and just makes the room pop. In the entry was a closet with iron board n iron. Your sink with large mirror with good lighting, a large sill that had a coffee pot on it which brews up to a 6 cups of coffee was next. Coffee and sugar and creamer along with 2 cups is provide by the hotel. Across from the sink is your shower/tub combo and toilet room. This is the only room that had tile on the floor. The shower had nice hot water and the tub was a larger then normal so would have been a good for a nice bath. (One of the most spotless bathrooms I've seen in any hotel). We had a sitting area with a sofa bed and chair with a sofa table. You could see the 50' TV from the sitting area or bed. It sat on cabinet which included a microwave, a mini fridge, and some drawers. Across from the TV was the giant King size bed. One of the most comfortable needs we have ever slept on. (Both of us have major back issues, and still slept like babies). On either side of the bed were night stands with a light and plugs for your phones,or tablets, etc. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE ROOM! IT WAS PERFECT! We did get an opportunity to use the spa and pool. The pool was a little too cool for us to go into. It was regulated by air temperatures which were a little cooler than we like. The spa was perfect! Perfect temperature, the jets worked perfect, very relaxing. The staff were very friendly always smiling and asking if everything is ok We did not get a chance to make, although it looked like they were set up for an extended continental breakfast with some hot foods. We originally booked rooms for a family event, and from the beginning, Monica and her team worked with us and gave our family a great rate. Then the weather came in and completely changed our plans. What happened next is something I will never forget. We had well over 100 family members and guests coming together--far more people than the hotel could reasonably be expected to accommodate for an event. But instead of making us feel like we were a burden, the staff opened their doors and welcomed us. And when I say they welcomed us, they welcomed us like family. The kids took over the lobby. Family members were everywhere. Plans were changing because of the weather. There was food, laughter, conversation, and a whole lot of people. Through all of it, Monica and her staff handled everything with patience and grace. I even saw one woman working and cleaning rooms with her children there with her. Everyone was doing whatever needed to be done to take care of their guests. That kind of dedication stays with you. I have traveled all over the world and stayed at some incredible hotels and resorts--from the W in downtown Seattle, to Disney's Animal Kingdom with giraffes outside the balcony, to the Wynn and MGM, New York City, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and many other places. But I can sincerely say that I have never experienced hospitality like my family received at La Quinta in Hillsboro. And there is another part of this experience that means even more to me. We are a large African American family, but more importantly, we are a family made up of all kinds of people, personalities, backgrounds, lifestyles, and experiences. We had family and friends from different places and walks of life, including members of the LGBTQ+ community. Not one person was made to feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, judged, or out of place. Instead, we were shown compassion, respect, acceptance, patience, and genuine love. That matters. They didn't just tolerate my family--they embraced my family. They laughed with us. They talked with us. They even ate dinner with us. And if you know country folks, you know we're going to offer you a plate--and probably aren't going to take no for an answer! For those hours, there wasn't a line between "hotel staff" and "our family." Everybody was simply together. Monica and her staff helped save our event, but they gave us something even bigger than that: they gave us a place where everyone in our family felt at home. I will never forget it. From this point forward, whenever our family comes back home to Hillsboro, there is no question about where we're staying. La Quinta is where we will stay. To Monica, Susan, Amanda, and every employee who worked, cleaned, helped, smiled, answered questions, dealt with our kids running around, shared a meal with us, and showed patience when things got hectic: Thank you. I still had roaches and crickets throughout the room. They have ineffective pest control. Also the towel on the shower ... the one I call the bathmat towel as its intended purpose is to replace mats to keep you from slipping after a shower ... had a few spots on it that I couldn't quite place. My limited interaction with staff was great at check out; check in I could tell she was juggling multiple phone calls and check ins at once .... as my daughter was told to stop to check in at the desk with her adults when my MIL had just checked in and went back out for her bag; she checked in while I unloaded the kids and our bag. If having to stay in the area its probably the best choice though with it being only an hour - hour and a half away from home without my MIL I would just drive thru or stay at my grandparents or aunts next time.

I also found a large bug on the floor, something I was very worried about (insects), the noise outside (which doesn't bother me), and the television was either malfunctioning or just old. As evidenced by the price of the hotel, I am not very particular. However, when half the white towels are dingy grey, it's just wrong. The bed is softer than soft, while the area around the hotel is a little less safe than I feel comfortable with. All in all not a great experience here.

I told her that I had not planned on doing that but I would certainly be doing that now due to her rudeness. I went back to my room and a few minutes later the phone rang. She was calling me to tell us that she wanted us to check out and if we did not, she would call the cops. I told her that if she could find me a hotel nearby, I would gladly leave (there were no hotel rooms available anywhere because it was the day before the eclipse). I had pre-paid $75 for this room and I think she wanted me to leave so she could re-rent it for twice the cost to some desperate person looking for a last minute room. Cops never came. Horrible woman. Hair in the tub, used up pantyshield in corner of shower, dead bugs in fridge, ripped curtains, stained bedding, lumpy pillows, non-smoking room that smelled like smoke. I've stayed in cheaper hotels that were far cleaner and more pleasant. I'm not a difficult person, but I do expect a clean room. I've travelled extensively and stayed in hundreds of hotels. Most hotel staff will bend over backwards to make something right. She didn't care at all about the condition of the room or our experience. She was unacceptably rude.
