We called the front desk and they sent someone up right away and they mopped the entire unit. The floor was still sticky even after the thorough mop. Being too tired to deal with it, we just put on our socks and "lived with it the first night". What followed after is what really impressed me. The following morning, we got a call to check in to see if everything was ok, and if there was anything they could do for us. I brought up the floor again, and immediately someone was in our room to "assess" the situation. They then asked if it would be ok if someone could come in a buff the floor. We were headed to the pool so we accepted. When we came back, the floor was 100% better and the staff continued to call and check on us, follow up and make sure that our stay was going well. This is the kind of customer service that really impresses and made the rest of stay amazing! Besides the floor situation, this hotel was amazing. Our family had the best time here! It's a smaller and more quiet property than the large Marriott on the property, which was just our speed. The pool was well maintained with the best view of the cliffs and ocean. Our room had the most spectacular view! We had breakfast on the large lanai every morning. I loved that the glass "wall" opened up entirely to the lanai so that it felt as if we had an "outdoor" living room. We took full advantage of the on property activities that they offer throughout the day when we could, such as pond fishing, fabric flower making and smoothies. The staff were all very friendly, warm, helpful and personable. parking was a breeze. This was one of the most relaxing vacations we have had and can't wait to come back!

They have the perfect setup on the balcony with 2 lounge chairs and a round dining table where you can eat your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We were lucky to see a full rainbow while enjoying our balcony. The pool area and the grounds were immaculate. They also have a great restaurant The drawbacks are you see a beach but there is no way to get there without trespassing. Everything is driving distance. Parking is easy. Coffee in the lobby area is only served on the weekends. However the coffee in the room is good as well. Highly recommend to get your groceries so you can cook in your room. We always stop by Costco to get food and gas which is by the airport. So go there first rather than going back. Hawaii is so beautiful with so many different properties. So I would not stay here again if I was coming back to this island.

I booked a package through Costco which included the room, car rental and the daily mandatory resort fees. Plus, I received a Costco shop card when our stay was over. I did upgrade to a ground floor room, which was really convenient! We didn't have to deal with the elevators on this trip. We did pay the extra $10 for valet parking versus self parking. At times, the parking lots were full which meant guests had to park in the overflow lot which is not as convenient. The pools were never overly crowded and lounge chairs were available throughout the day. The resort sits on a beach which is great to walk along or spend some time there. All of the staff we encountered were really friendly and always showed us lots of aloha. We're definitely staying here again for our next trip to Kauai!

The hotel is located right across the street from the Marriott property and the locals surf spot at K-bay. There is a hot and cold water dispenser in the lobby as well as cookies and pastries at the front desk throughout the day. Our room was very cute, decorated with colorful walls and bedding. The room and the bathroom was very clean. We had a good night sleep. There is a large garden on the property full of beautiful trees and plants. We even got some organic tangelos from the tangelo tree, big juicy and very tasty! The staff were very helpful and gave us alot of good information on what to do and where to go. definitely recommend!

Didn't have the decency to call me when I asked him to after his inconsiderate email. Same for Lorena. No call just a Yep it's no longer available. What terrible people and poor character. This hotel has 130 years of history and it is dated as you can tell from the furniture inside the room, but it is clean and it is comfortable. They had good water pressure so we enjoyed hot shower. You could sit outside of your room and enjoy their open space and there're many peacocks and chicken running around. They also had a small pool, but we didn't use it because it was raining hard when we went. We didn't spend too much time at the hotel we were out during the day so this hotel was perfect for us so we don't have to break the bank to enjoy our time on Kaua'i.

Stunning lobby and view point! Friendly owners and visitors! Great pools - two infinity pools overlooking the ocean below the lobby. A jacuzzi is nearby. Two more pools are located at the neighboring building, with waterfalls from one pool into the other. In the middle of these pools is a lava rock jacuzzi. Homes include 3 and 2 bedroom condos and ocean facing townhouses with private plunge pools. Tiki torches light up the property at sundown with the sunsetting behind the mountains. Hula shows are every Friday night, with monthly and holiday special hula. Sunrises at the infinity pools are spectacular! Hungry? The onsite restaurant, Hualani's, serves breakfast lunch and dinner. And the food is fantastic and delicious! Many items come from the local Hokuala Farm. And the views from the restaurant are amazing! The entire property was without power for a few days and the water the staff handled the situation made me a customer for life. I can't say enough about the employees that helped all the stranded people. From the pasta dinners to the scrambled eggs in the morning, we don't know how you did it but you guys were awesome. My daughter got married on the island and the place we rented for the week of the wedding was destroyed. This hotel and their staff really took care of us when we were basically homeless. While the staff is super friendly and helpful, that's unfortunately the only good thing about the hotel. The property itself looks ok from the outside but if you look closer you'll notice that pretty much everything metal is corroded or rusted (including TVs). Unlike the other Sheraton, their parking situation is much better as the lot is huge and will never fill up. The oceanfront suite is very large but full of issues: - AC unit is insufficient even on colder / cloudier days and extremely loud - To make things worse, the AC filters are filthy and looked like they haven't been changed in years (which is probably true) - The room has no carpets and the floor looks just ugly and cold (although it's not actually cold because the AC is garbage) - The shower has the most idiotic design where someone turned a great idea into a flooding situation and every time you use the shower the whole bathroom fills up with water To top it all, there are no decent restaurants on the property and pretty much all the food you can buy onsite is overpriced food court stuff. If you're on the island of Kauai and must choose one of the 2 Sheratons, definitely go with the one in Poipu.
