I was staying there but not necessarily on vacation (family illness emergency stay), so not everyone comes here to party. You might think, buy why stay there? Originally, we booked the Melia hotel (a bit more quiet given the situation), but the room was so run down that we asked to be moved (both hotels are from the same chain). Not recommended, this hotel needs a major overhaul.

When we arrived before check-in, they allowed us to store our luggage in a meeting room. However, when we went back later post-check in my group was yelled at for going into the room (with the staff member there) because "we can't have this many people in the room". This was after my group was yelled at while quietly waiting against a wall in the lobby while I was getting the room keys, being told, "We cannot have this many people in here! You have to leave!". On our second night there, we came back into the hotel from dinner and the same staff person yelled at the group for forgetting to do the temp check and hand sanitizing. Again, we had no problem doing it - but the staff person's tone and volume were as if we had intentionally forgotten to do it. Here's the thing, though - I personally observed many people not wearing masks in the lobby, doing the temp check and sanitizing, and none of them were yelled at like we were. The kicker was the fact that at no point during our stay, until I called on the second night, was I informed that we were provided free breakfast as part of our stay. I even heard the same staff woman tell others that they did, but she never said anything to me. I checked my reservation, and there's no mention of it, so I figured that we didn't get it with our rooms. But we did, and we were never informed. That's breakfast for 20 people that I didn't have to buy for them elsewhere. The pool water was dirty and cloudy. The rooms looked like they hadn't been updated since the 60's. The location was out in the middle of nowhere. The one star is for the morning staff, who were kind and helpful. I would highly recommend NOT staying here.

When booking, we were thinking the price wasn't too bad, forgetting it wasn't an all inclusive resort. There are three restaurants in the main side of the resort. We only ate at the buffet for breakfast. It was good, but not worth $27 per person. The pool bar had a small menu, that was pretty good. The pool was very large and the slide section was roped off, so it did not bother the rest of the pool area. The beach was not great. Only about 6 loungers, which were always full. The water is very rough and no lifeguards. What they don't tell you is that there is another side you can go with a very nice pool and much better beach. Go to the valet desk and ask for the shuttle to the golf course. This was pretty empty and we had it almost to ourselves. The downside to that is there was no open bar near the pool. If you go into the sushi restaurant they have a limited bar, but they did not speak English. I figured it out though!

There is not lot but we had no problem finding street parking for the week that we stayed. We stayed in the Muse room. To be honest, this was expensive and more than I would have liked to spend but the hotel was so good it was worth it. You are a block from the beach and they provide beach towels and chairs. We did two beach days near the hotel and it was honestly perfect. The beach is amazing, very blue even though it's in the city. I felt perfectly safe walking around this area. It is technically in a gated community so it is very nice. Right outside the gated area are a bunch of restaurants. The food at dreamcatcher was also very good. They provide free coffee every morning and then pay as you go food from 8am-1pm. Everything I ate was very delicious. The menu changes frequently so if you see something that sounds good, get it! My favorite thing was the tofu huevos rancheros. It was incredible. They serve a dinner on Friday nights that was $65pp but we skipped to try some other things. The courtyard is also very cute, great place to get pictures and sit back and relax. I can't wait to come back. Puerto Rico has my heart!

Well, our family stayed in the Meliá at Ponce for a weekend since we were attending a wedding…read morenearby. We paid for a king sized bed for my husband, my two kids and myself. Checking in was pretty easy and checking out as well. I have to say that staff is pretty responsive and try to make things right quickly. However, this hotel is pretty old. Though it is considered an antique, it is not well mantained and a lot of the amenities are broken down and things do not seem taken care of. They initially gave us the wrong bedroom, but quickly fixed it. I paid extra for the deluxe room for the bed and the fridge since I was carrying breastmilk for my baby. the fridge did not keep contents too cold, room was not cleaned properly and the restroom had even items from previous guest. Again, staff was quick to fix things and they were very responsive, even when I needed to contact them in the middle of the night, however, it is a pretty expensive stay for the quality of the hotel and ameneties. It is a shame since the lobby are is beautiful, the location is great, right in the middle of the downtown and in front of the plaza. I wish they are able to invest in fixing it and keeping the beautiful antique look of the building.
