Honestly you kind of need to lower your expectations when staying at a Motel 6. It's not a fancy destination motel. That being said we booked it on booking.com and from the outside it looked typical. But the room was very big, very clean, had great hot water and a great air conditioner. Little fridge and microwave. Nice big tv. Bed was pretty comfy too! It was cheap and cheerful. The best part was that I felt good about leaving my truck outside because they have tons of security cameras that they monitor. The area is a little sketch. Raven at the front desk was absolutely delightful and professional. She's a real pro and cares about her job and the customers. Raven... The staff is very friendly. The bathroom didn't have hand soap (bar soap) but I got some at the front desk. Towels mismatched and a little discolored, but clean. The bed is quite comfortable and clean, two good pillows and a third kind of hard/thin. And there was a huge light leak to the hall when I turned out the lights for bedtime. Had to use a towel to block it out. Slept great. It was nice and quiet. The fridge works, and is big enough to hold my road trip food stash and some beer. Plenty of surfaces for suitcase, travel bags, a table to eat and/or write, another desk type thing. Everything clean. The paint job on the doors are the only thing that makes it seem kind of dumpy. And there are some weird things on the bathroom wall that I would scrub off if I was housekeeping. I'm choosing to ignore it. AC works great. No roaches, but there was a cricket. We were skeptical of staying here because the reviews are awful although they're pretty old reviews. This was the only place that had vacancy in town so we didn't have a choice but to come here. They're actually more then decent. The rooms are newly renovated. The spa doesn't work, it's down for maintenance but the lady at the front desk said the owner doesn't want to pay to have the pipes replaced so it's just not open anymore so maybe indefinitely. What is the #1 fear/horror story when it comes to travel accommodations? That's right, you guessed it: bed bugs! Those little guys that are insanely difficult to get rid of, multiply like the world is ending, and make the lives of humans miserable. I'm sure you are itching just thinking about it! Unfortunately, you are also right if you think this review concerns bed bugs. It does, indeed. But let's back up for a moment... The Motel 6 in Winslow, AZ is located off the historic route 66 (US 40) near famous roadside attractions like Meteor Crater and directly in-route to Los Angeles. Your initial reaction, especially if you have already been traveling cross-country on this route, will be one of glee as this Motel 6 is more like a hotel than its Motel 6 brothers and sisters. Motel 6 Winslow is a multi-floor building with a relatively new/updated exterior located in the heart of a shopping area filled with eateries and a grocery store. Although the parking lot is small, even the lobby is modern (plus offers coffee/tea) and the room doors are inside the building like a 'regular' hotel unlike many other Motel 6 locations which are outdoors like a true motel. This location also has an indoor pool and hot tub! Talk about 'ooh la la' when it comes to Motel 6! We arrived in the evening hours and snagged a single room with king bed at about $60. Upon entrance into the room, we were still at this point quite pleased as the room was much nicer than the other Motel 6 rooms thus far. Although the bright orange wall is a slightly odd choice, it is 'fun', very spacious, and felt clean ('felt' is clear objective here). In fact, this room had obviously been a double room in a past life because there was a dance floor-like space available and floating wall plugs which meant I was enticed to perform a Tony Danza-style tap number, but I digress. This is where things get buggy: I ventured into the bathroom which also satisfied me with its counter space and Ikea-style towel holders. But immediately... I saw a bug in the tub that looked like a large flea! It appeared to be dead and I know bugs climb up through drains so I sort of let it go even though I mentioned to my travel partner that there was a "large flea" in the tub. He didn't look into it and let it go, as well. The next morning, when my travel partner arose to shower, I told him not to forget about the large flea. It dawned on him... wait a minute! He goes to look and comes back into the main room, "Um, that's a bed bug! I know because my dad once had bed bugs!". OH HELL NO!!!!!! We freaked out and ripped the bed apart to check for bugs. We didn't see anything but obviously we were instantly terrified that we would be taking bed bugs or bed bug larvae home! Now, in proper customer service order, you would think that Motel 6 staff would be apologetic and kind. NOPE! I went to the front desk to mention the bed bug and the front desk associate Juan didn't even crack a facial expression, DID NOT APOLOGIZE ONCE, and just said, "I'll have housekeeping come check." How does that help us? I asked to speak to a manager whom apparently was out of house until Monday (this was Friday night) and he said he will tell her to call our room. Basically, Juan didn't give two shits. Of course, the manager never called our room and instead Mr. Don't-Care-Juan did. My travel partner spoke to him and asked if they will help with costs if we bring bed bugs home and have to get rid of them, etc. Juan still didn't seem to care and said no, he can't say they would. BUT that he spoke to the manager and will give us 20% off the room (that was about $12 -- whoop dee do!). We were so upset and just wanted to get the heck out of there so I went to the front desk to ask for receipt proof of the discount and we were on our way. Buh-bye! Never judge a book by its cover, they say and in this case: it is true. Motel 6 Winslow has a modern, lovely exterior and rooms in comparison to other Motel 6 locations but then BAM! Hello, bed bugs! I'm sure they didn't do anything about this as other reviews over time have complained about roaches and bed bugs and clearly staff doesn't care. To our surprise the rooms were very clean! And the staff was super friendly as we checked in very late. The rates were great as we decided to book at the last minute. The pool was OOO however we didn't come here for that. We needed a clean place to stay and we got that. Went to pool with kids. The pool does need remodeling. Concrete is kind of broken, little dirty around the pool, water was a little cold and jacuzzi needed a clean. The room was cleAn. After reading all the reviews I will say that everyone is right. The first thing we encountered was roaches. Once we saw a few roaches we packed our belongings and placed them back in our car. Slept for a couple hours and we were out of there. Cheap is not always the best route to take. read more

I stayed here last week without any incident and overall it was a decent stay... this week is a completely different scenario... Checked into the room and found a gigantic black hair on my pillow case and when I turn the bed sheets back I found a black hair on the bed, I went to call the front desk and the phone was taken apart in the room. No housekeeping on staff so they had to help me move to a different room which was very inconvenient. The front desk person said someone would meet me at room 117, that did not Happen, I had to walk up to the front desk with all my belongings with me to swap out the room key, no apology.... nothing! BED BUG. A bed bug crawled out of the pillow case one of our kids was laying on. We put the bug in a container and took it to the front desk and also grabbed our belongings because we did not want to sleep in an establishment that had bugs. The motel offered a refund for half of one room which is ridiculous. We rented two rooms to accommodate our family and one room wouldn't accommodate us and they want to refund half of one room when we had to leave at 1am in the morning. Our kids hadn't even slept yet. Stayed last night 11/4/2021and at midnight I got bitten by bed bug about 5 times ..I complained to the front desk..they gave me another room and said that manager would contact me...no one contacted me until I called them...I was told by the manager that she would comp me a percentage and I told her that I expected to be fully compensated for what happened and the inconvenience and she said NO .I told her I was going to contact my credit card company and she said you do whatever you want and hung up on me ..so here I am to let everyone know what happened at this establishment...I am a CEO of Corporation I would certainly never treat my customers like that manager. If she worked for me I would have terminated her...so unprofessional...I will be contacting her corporate office about this matter. This motel 6 is charging $111.00 a night for a room with two beds one night. This room is discussing and has major concerns and issues! The ceiling is our bathroom above the shower was leaking and smelled like mold. Our shower head was clogged with dirt and grime and definitely was never replaced or cleaned! The walls were peeling of paint and I thought I was going to fall through my shower floor because of the weak spots in the floor being to rotten and stuff. Ok for $69 it is understood we're not getting much. But hear me out: My wife, 3 year old son and I drove from Washington State to our reserved smoke free room in Winslow, AZ Motel 6. (I have ashma and a child). Our room key did not work. Had to go get another one. After fumbling and looking like an idiot for 5 more minutes, it finally worked. Upon entering, the room appeared to be clean but smelled like it had been smoked in for years. Went to unload the car and stepped in a big puddle of what smelled like human urine on the way back in the hallway. We then found there was an infestation of cockroaches in the room.. Crawling down the walls, killed a few and caught 5 live roaches and a bunch of other little unidentifiable insects around the bed. This is unacceptable and unsanitary. Oh well, too tired, ill let staff know in the morning. I turned on the tv so my son and I could watch cartoons and we were greeted by a loud pornographic show. Really? Of course the remote suddenly didn't work and the tv was stuck on full volume with no ability to change channel or turn down the volume for a couple minutes. Sorry kiddo, there's a premature lesson on sex ed!. The door lock outside is broken so any of the shady characters roaming the parking lot can come into the hallway. The security latch on the room door appears to have been forcefully slammed from its hinges and is dysfunctional. I looked out the window at around midnight and there were people suspiciously pacing the parking lot. I do not feel safe bringing my family here and now I can barely breathe from asthma attack from the cigarette stench. Maybe you can handle it, but I can't. Be warned. read more

The TV was too small for the size of the room and had a very poor signal. Lack of seating in room ment only able to sit on bed to watch TV and had next to no pillows. No good views from the windows in rooms either. Surrounding plaza had homeless and Riff Raff in it. Not a great neighborhood. Additionally the tub creaked LOUD as you moved in the shower. This motel has an indoor pool and spa which was closed for the season. What made this motel different was the interior hallway that made it seem more like a hotel rather than a motel. I have stayed at this Motel 6 in Winslow, multiple times. I recommend it to my friends and family any time they mention they are going through Winslow on their way to California. I have lived in Winslow but am from South Central Texas. Most Motel 6's are not this nice. I have stayed in Hamptons that had issues. The beds are a bit too hard for me but overall the stay was very nice and a lady named, Carol, who works overnights was very helpful. We called her several times with different questions about Winslow and for help with the TV. She was cheerful and made us feel at home. That makes a big difference. Our only complaint is that they have no breakfast. read more

Summary: best stay I have had for $50 in the recent years. They must have done a remodeling recently. Everything was clean, the staff was friendly. The rooms have fridges. We only stopped for the night, so didn't use the amenities beyond those in the room, but the shower was hot, the AC was cold, the beds were clean, as were the floors (no carpets to get sullied). Room was Clean, Bed was decent. Price was great considering it was off season. I would imagine they are a bit higher in summer. Staff was nice. The biggest problem I had was we checked in at 12:30am, we got the last room available in late December, it was 30 degrees outside and the heater did not work, it just blew cold air all night (yes I had it on heater setting and made sure the temp was right). Me and my girlfriend snuggled up and tried as hard as we could to stay warm but we were cold all night and barely got any sleep. In the morning we tried to get the heater working again but gave up and got dressed in the cold and left. No free breakfast and vending machines were out of order. Came here after leaving econo Lodge because worker was very rude and was pleasantly surprised by the sweet And accommodating young lady. Got a room at a booking.com rate of $51 (just by asking for it). Rooms had been updated you could tell but for $51 for 5 hours sleep it was fine. No bites like previously reported. It is a pet friendly hotel which didn't charge extra or hold a deposit. Beds and pillows aren't the greatest but for $51. Wasn't complaining. Wouldn't have wanted to stay for much longer though read more

As you can see by the pics I was attacked by bed bugs and other sorts. They have done NOTHING to make it right. They say I will be contacted in 30 days and that they need to do an investigation first. WTF is to investigate. Then Corporate MOTEL 6 says it's not their problem because it is a franchise and they don't own that one. They act like I was suppose to know that. I have called the owner directly and left messages for her to call me. She has not. I called the Health Department and asked them to send me a copy of their report. They said they don't so paper work and that they are just going to go over there and check. WHAT?! What kinda Government office just goes over and checks and doesn't have paperwork to do. This is probably the best Motel 6 I've ever been to. Typically a normal Motel 6 does not have an indoor walkway to get to the rooms, it makes more like a ghetto apartment than a hotel. But this Motel 6 is different---all of its rooms have indoor walkways and have typical computerized keycards like all regular hotel rooms. read more

Outside is very scary looking. Inside isn't as bad. I would recommend it for maybe one night but wouldn't do it more than that. Check in and a couple hours later requested a new room since my door would not stay closed or locked. Door was all messed up like someone ripped it off. They have a sign that says when in your room you should lock the dead bolt. That doesn't make me feel safe. A lot of options to eat around it and Safeway is across the street. So that's a plus. No elevators, so if they are all reserved and you have a handicapped person, you need to find somewhere else. read more

I was really surprised at how clean our room actually was, after reading the review on other booking sites. The floors, bathroom and beds were clean. The sink & shower especially were obviously kept clean too. Comfy and fairly quiet for a full hotel. We had a very positive experience here. We checked in a few hours ago and upon checking in there are people across the hall talking LOUDLY in the hallway. And trying to get sleep I wake up to kids running in the room above. The hotel itself is nice. The bathroom is a little small though. For almost $80 I expect more amenities like a coffee maker in the room (there's a coffee maker in the lobby). It is very close to Navajo Nation and Hopi Nation where within a short drive you can see some beautiful land... come back, get some rest -and still have enough time to visit Navajo Nation and Hopi Nation again. read more
