    Bathroom is clean.

We were skeptical of staying here because the reviews are awful although they're pretty old reviews. This was the only place that had vacancy in town so we didn't have a choice but to come here. They're actually more then decent. The rooms are newly renovated. The spa doesn't work, it's down for maintenance but the lady at the front desk said the owner doesn't want to pay to have the pipes replaced so it's just not open anymore so maybe indefinitely. Other than that the rooms are clean and staff is friendly.

Came here Friday night. 2 adults 2 childrens, 90$ not bad. Easy to check in. Very friendly staff. They do have wifi but i was never able to connect to it, trying and trying and nothing. Went to pool with kids. The pool does need remodeling. Concrete is kind of broken, little dirty around the pool, water was a little cold and jacuzzi needed a clean. The room was cleAn. The beds were Well made. The bathroom was clean too i was impressive, but its so small 2 people standing in there's is too small. They told me they have Breakfast from 4am to 10am, for my surprise , next morning i ask for where the breakfast room was and the person there told me they served only coffee and tea ? What? That's not breakfast.... o well,

    Hair!!

I stayed here last week without any incident and overall it was a decent stay... this week is a completely different scenario... Checked into the room and found a gigantic black hair on my pillow case and when I turn the bed sheets back I found a black hair on the bed, I went to call the front desk and the phone was taken apart in the room. No housekeeping on staff so they had to help me move to a different room which was very inconvenient. The front desk person said someone would meet me at room 117, that did not Happen, I had to walk up to the front desk with all my belongings with me to swap out the room key, no apology.... nothing! Wow. Update: the new room they put me into seems to be really good so far so I'm going to change review.

    BED BUG

BED BUG. A bed bug crawled out of the pillow case one of our kids was laying on. We put the bug in a container and took it to the front desk and also grabbed our belongings because we did not want to sleep in an establishment that had bugs. The motel offered a refund for half of one room which is ridiculous. We rented two rooms to accommodate our family and one room wouldn't accommodate us and they want to refund half of one room when we had to leave at 1am in the morning. Our kids hadn't even slept yet. I do not recommend staying here and I will never stay here again.

New beds with pretty platforms, pet friendly furniture.

My daughter and I came in with our geriatric ginger cat in dire need of rest and relaxation, So glad we made it here. Bring your bathing suits enjoy a hot tub soak. I was warmed by the staffs greetings and friendly service. The room is clean and the beds are comfortable, food options are very close, though I would avoid the Chinese food I look forward to breakfast and coffee in the morning. Come check in if you need a good experience out there on the road.

This motel 6 is charging $111.00 a night for a room with two beds one night. This room is discussing and has major concerns and issues! The ceiling is our bathroom above the shower was leaking and smelled like mold. Our shower head was clogged with dirt and grime and definitely was never replaced or cleaned! The walls were peeling of paint and I thought I was going to fall through my shower floor because of the weak spots in the floor being to rotten and stuff. Room has a foul odor the beds were stained and the fridge raider smell awful! Mention it to the front desk and they said that the building is old!

There is a bar and restaurant at the hotel and both are fantastic. There is NO elevator. You have to schlep your bags, all of them, to the 2nd floor. We are not young people, it was not an easy trek. There is no help. The rooms are lovely. Spacious bathrooms, blow dryers, comfy mattress and lots of pillows. There is a train immediately behind the hotel that runs pretty much non stop, day and night. We opted to sleep with the windows open to enjoy the gorgeous weather. At around 10 pm a train blasted the horn and scared me death (hub slept through it lol). After that just the rails, no horn. We will always stay at the La Posada. We will plan in advance for a ground floor room.

It was also designed by a female architect, something that was not common at all at that time (or even now, sadly). Lots of movie stars and even presidents have stayed here and the property has a long, interesting history, you can read about. At present, there is a literal train stop at the back of the hotel, just about 100 feet away. Really. If train noises at all hours--and I do mean at ALL hours--bothers you, make sure you specifically ask for a room far, far away from the train tracks. We were about mid-way from the tracks and could hear trains all night long. Yes, each room has ear plugs but not everyone wants to wear those things. The hotel has a very nice looking restaurant and bar (and they do have a happy hour) and the bar doubles as a coffee house in the morning, which is smart business. We didn't eat at the restaurant, mostly because the dinner prices were off the charts, although I would have liked to have done so. The lunch prices seem more reasonable. The property itself has a beautiful courtyard and a large room they call a "ballroom" and lots of spaces for exploring. They also have many free board games set about which you can use. At the back of the property, facing the train stop, there are chairs set about if you want to relax and/or watch the trains. Apparently, there are roving skunks, too, so keep that in mind. Personally, I would have liked to have seen a wild skunk or two (are there any domesticated skunks?). Our room was delightful. The entire property has a Southwestern theme and decor. During our visit, they had some absolutely wild art hung about here there and everywhere. Perhaps this art is up permanently. I love art but some of it, apart from just being on the weird side, was also somewhat political and, frankly, I think distracted from the beauty of this place. I would stay here again...but only if I was located far, far from the trains at night.

Instead, I broke up my stays between two hotels. The Winslow appears to be a newer hotel in the area. Since I was busy with the tournament, I didn't get a chance to explore much of the hotel. My room was clean and had a king bed, flat screen TV, small desk, mini closet, and more. It was plenty spacious for me and would be spacious for two people as well. The bathroom featured a large shower and large sink. Like one Yelper mentioned, the bathroom fan stays on the whole time. I've never experienced that before, but once I closed the door, I couldn't really hear it anymore. The hotel includes a hot breakfast with your stay which I took advantage of right before checking out. The buffet offered eggs, sausage, potatoes, pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, and more. There's also a bar that offers drinks and food. I slept well and had no issues during my stay. Every staff member I encountered was pleasant and helpful.

It was nice that we didn't have to drive somewhere to have dinner and a cocktail. The hotel was recently remodeled, the rooms were decorated nicely and the bed was comfortable. The reason we will not return is because the fan in the bathroom cannot be turned off, it is very loud. So we had to shut the door to block the sound, that could be ok except when it's dark and you have to find your way to the bathroom. The second reason we would not go back is because the air conditioner unit is very loud. Every time it came on it would wake us.

It's also located quite a bit off the freeway, which is nice because you get a decent night's sleep. Right across the street is small lounge and restaurant. Had cocktails that night in the lounge (no food there after 8pm) and a pretty typical diner breakfast in the lounge the next day. The Desert Sun Motel is a nice little oasis in the desert.

Being able to not take interstate highways for a lot of the trip AND having no clue where we were going to spend each night was something we looked forward to. Arriving late afternoon in Winslow we drove slowly past the Desert Sun Motel. The rooms were in a semi circle around a huge pea gravel parking area. We checked in to room 22 and I must say that it was one of the nicest budget places we have stayed in a long time. At $40 including taxes, this was not the cheapest place we stayed in, but the room was one of the best. It had recently been remodeled and the bathroom was just like home ... spacious, nice tile, well lit ... really clean and roomy. The bedroom had a most comfortable mattress and armoir, sitting chair with ottoman and TV. The room had a very neutral odor ... no cover ups here ... and very quiet during the evening. Driving through Winslow might scare most people off from stopping, but take the time to walk around, have a cup of coffee and definitely stay overnight at the Desert Sun. Nice managers and nice motel. You will think you are back in the 50's again.

Given that I was driving from the LA area to Chicago, this was my first stop. I arrived at 12:45am (the night of 12/30, early early morning 12/31), and walked into the lobby where no one was to be found. I waited for over 20 minutes there after many attempts to call them with the coffee phone provided, as well as ringing the bell, and calling from my personal phone - NO ANSWER, NOBODY. After a very long day of driving and being up early, I was very unsure what to do as all I needed was a bed to sleep in since I had another long drive the next day. I called the Quality Inn down the road since they are apart of the same group that owns Econolodge, and the guy didn't know what to tell me and basically told me to call a main number for help since they had no vacancies. That number did not get me connected to anyone since it wasn't during normal business hours. Long story short, I ended up staying at a Quality Inn in Holbrook (a 35 minute from there) and didn't get to bed until well after 2pm. I also ended up paying more than triple than what I initially paid which they will not refund me for which I find strange considering it was their fault I was put in this predicament. I was very displeased and it makes me disappointed to have even signed up with Choice Hotels.
