We had to make a quick reservation late at night during our 10 hr drive back to Oklahoma. It was pouring rain and we couldn't see Hwy 44, some traffic had pulled over and a semi had a wrecked on the road. There was 4 of us needing a one room/two bed room and the closest place to us was the Motel 6 with a room available for $41.00..perfect! We drove up and a very nice lady was working the front counter. I wasn't expecting too much for the price, just needed a bed to catch some sleep. The only room she had was upstairs..oh how I've loved elevators but no biggie, we can do this. She said our room was right above the office so we went outside and started getting our suitcases and heading for the stairs. Then she came out and said it was on the other side and apologized, but also said the stairs go through to the other side. My newly licensed son was excited to move the vehicle around to the other side while we tackled the steep steps. The motel looked really clean as did our room. Everything worked..the tv, the air conditioner, hair dryer, microwave ice box and even toilet. Shower was great..I noticed an outdoor pool that was empty, which was okay with the cold and rain. The beds could've been softer but after staying on the king sized cinder blocks at the Townhouse in Oklahoma City I wasn't going to complain, bring on the bed! The only thing that would've made our stay better is if they had another room for my mom and brother. He sounds like some type of wild animal sleeping with his loud snoring and mom's a very early riser and had already gotten some sleep in the vehicle while we were driving. I have no idea what time I finally went to sleep but she was waking me up at 5 am wanting to know if I wanted some fudge she got at Uranus the day before and also telling me she brought in 4 White Castle cheeseburgers and heated them up for us. No I wasn't damn interested! She pulled a chair up between the two beds and watched tv. I heard everytime she left the room and returned. She kept waking me up with the time and asking should we be going now? The earlier we leave, the sooner we'll get home!! Honey sorry I keep waking you up but it's 5:15, 5:35, 5:50, 6:10...ughhhh! By around 6:30-7am I had had enough! She was on her umpteenth cup of coffee and met the man that ran the motel, knew his whole life story, insurance plans, criminal record, his kid's lives, how many grandkids he had and where they all lived..she was bound to give me the run down! This woman that birthed me was going to make sure I was up and ready to kill someone! She couldn't wake my son or brother lucky turds..nope just me and now I had to wake them up to start getting around. But yeah, the motel was really nice for a quick room and they do leave the light on for ya!! Just make sure you don't have any early risers or snoring animals in your room if you like to sleep! read more
