We stayed in room two, which was very nice for us; it overlooks the front of the home, and has plenty of windows for a nice cross breeze which we enjoyed in early May for sleeping. The property overlooks a quiet spring in the back, where chairs and a firepit are nestled near the stream. We had a nice time sitting on the back deck and getting to know Carrie and Dave, and another guest; the innkeepers were genuinely interested in getting to know us, but not overly involved and had zero problem giving us and the other guests plenty of room to enjoy the home ourselves. Breakfast was again very generous and enjoyable for us; we are healthy eaters and picky about what we eat. We did not go hungry whatsoever. Breakfast consisted of ham quiche, fresh coffee and tea, milk, sausage, muffins, Greek yogurt with fresh cut fruit and a crumbled topping. All amenities were accounted for in the rooms including towels, soap, shampoo, body wash, Q-tips, cotton, plenty of towels, and clean drinking glasses. We could not have asked for a nicer stay and plan to go back again.

The breakfast was OK and it was included, which was very nice the room that I was in had some issues with a draft coming in from the window. Also, the bathroom wasn't as clean as it should be with two tiny towels and the sink did not drain correctly so I had to change rooms. The new room had noise coming from the outside, which was due to all the rooftop conditioners and heating equipment all night. I heard a knocking I could not sleep at all. The carpet has some stains on it and it does have a musky old smell to it. The wallpaper is coming off in spots. If you can get a deal a cheap deal then it's a OK place to stay. I really like that it's quiet somewhat and you could check out noon time.

I did not need parking but it is located nearby in a deck. The location is very close to campus, plus campus shuttles and public transit stops are nearby. My room was modern, neat, and clean (other reviews indicated problems I did not have). Water pressure for a shower was good (not great) and the water was hot, neat trick in many high rise hotels. There is no fan in the bathroom, so be forewarned. The website does offer some slightly confusing information on dining options, even the staff said that. Federal Taphouse restaurant is the de facto hotel restaurant (a separate business) and I would highly recommend on food quality and adult beverages selections. The hotel does have a very good free breakfast offering in a nice seating area away from the check in areas. A third restaurant basically functions as a bar opening around 4 pm. If none of this works, downtown has many offerings and cuisines. The only major issues I had was (1) no housekeeping during a five day stay. I even requested it mid-week, never happened, mystified why, and (2) I was changed for parking when I did not need it, and it took serious discussion to remove the charge. I expected more from Hyatt in providing the basic services of housekeeping and getting the bill straight. Aside from these two items, overall everything else was really good and if you are staying in the area consider this hotel.

Ramada State College is an interesting hotel. It's easy to find being off of S. Atherton St and has…read moreplenty of parking, but it's clearly an older hotel due to its complicated design. It has rooms with both indoor and outdoor entrances, conference facilities, and an indoor pool directly off of many rooms. Check in was easy, with the biggest challenge being how to find your room due to the maze-like structure, but they do have maps. There is an on-site restaurant and a small game room with several arcade machines. Our room was located in the atrium like area that had the pool and hot tub, with additional space for tables. Room had a large glass window facing into the atrium, but the blinds did keep the light out. The door was hard to get closed at times. Room was clearly renovated at some point, and had modern wood floors and a large non-smart TV. Came with a large mini fridge and microwave. The beds and pillows were reasonably comfortable, and there were enough electrical sockets. Downsides to our room was the bathroom was small, even with the sink being located outside of it. I did not like the shower head, while multi-function it was not powerful enough. The complimentary breakfast was respectable with eggs, sausage, potatoes, French toast, various fruits, baked items, yogurt, coffee, juice, and other items. Items were fresh and kept well stocked. Overall, for some people this hotel would be perfectly fine for a one or two day stay. If you have more people, or are staying several days, I'd probably look for a better but more expensive hotel in the area.

To make it worse, there was no overhead lighting at all. Felt like you were sleeping in your closet. TV had a remote that made it seem like it was a smart TV but it was not. No way to connect to the internet. I don't care all that much, but this is so outdated it comes with a card to tell you what networks are on what channels. But the guide on the TV doesn't work so you have no idea what's playing. So you have to scroll through every single channel and wait 3 seconds per channel for it to come up before you can see what's on and that is only when there's not a commercial playing. There's one lonely alarm clock that actually has USB charging. But no USBC of course, so have a plug adapter or USB adapter. Oh yeah if you want to iron something, bring a screwdriver. Apparently there's a lot of iron thefts around here so the iron is literally cabled to the ironing board on a giant plastic holder that is screwed into the ironing board. So you can't even use a full ironing board to its potential. And it makes it very difficult to fill the iron with water. Don't waste your money. Sleep on the street. That will be better accommodations than this place.

I didn't have time to fool around booking seven rooms online. I called the front desk, talked to an incredibly helpful person, and snagged the rooms in one short call. The quality of the hotel then greatly exceeded my expectations. Even at five Yelp stars, it's underrated. The place is tremendous value for the money. The rooms were sparkling clean. The amenities shined just as brightly. The breakfast was solid (wouldn't mind seeing bacon next time!) and saved time and money by not having to go out for breakfast. What really made the Fairfield Inn stand out, though, was the friendliness of every single staff member me and my team encountered. They put the service back in customer service. That place is clearly managed very well. I'm not a big fan of traveling anymore and dislike staying in hotels more than anything because of the obnoxious fellow guests that now seem to be the majority at every hotel I stay in. The staff at Fairfield gave me a little buffer as it was a low occupancy week, so I slept soundly in a hotel for the first time in ages. If I ever have to go back up to State College, the only place I'll stay is here.

Better than some "nicer" hotels have for sure. Overall I would definitely stay here again.

Shower was a big roll-in shower that splashed the floor, even with the curtain closed. The shade on the window wouldn't go up, it was one of those "old fashioned" types where you pull a little on the bottom and it should go up (no pull cords, etc). It kind of looked like someone pulled it down as far as it could go and broke it. I love natural light, so I ended up using a hanger from the closet (with the clips) and I folded the shade up and clipped it. Breakfast was ok - your typical continental along with flavorless/powdered scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon (depending on the day), potatoes....but they do have a pancake making machine, which I really liked.
